I worked 25 years with Inmarsat. I had many situations where I could rely only on that terminal, even outside the official footprint. I always considered Inmarsat as the reference point in order to guarantee the most reliable communication system to reach voice terminals, polling systems, server and crucial backups, from the deserts to the oceans **What do you dislike about Inmarsat?** Really difficult to say. At the beginning Inmarsat had very high traffic costs. Thanks to the optimization the rate have been aligned with the market **What problems is Inmarsat solving and how is that benefiting you?** Impossibile to provide just one answer. I remember at the beginning of my career the fantastic standard A, using a complex asynchronous modems on the vessels or the "portable" systems, for military applications and for the press agencies as the first milestone in the modern communication, then the standard M and MiniM, simple and rock solid user friendly terminals, widely used in the embassies, military applications, oil rigs and press users, as well as leisure vessel; Inmarsat has always provided the right solution ahead of the times. impossible not to mention standards now supplanted such as the high-speed "B" that made possible the first 64 or 128 Kbps video transmission that I have witnessed on many oil platforms, for telemedicine applications and other innovative uses up to modern Vsat systems integrated that have engineered a technology of broadcast origin and made it available to the most various types of users ### 2. Its a great experience working with the Inmarsat Maritime section. Also have worked on Inmarsat all products starting from Inmarsat A & B, which gave voice and data connectivity. Also worked on all outcomes of Inmarsat, which include Fleet family, BGAN, and FX. **What do you like best about Inmarsat?** Inmarsat is giving free safety services to all marine vessels that are trading in A1 + A2 +A3 areas. The most important, they don't charge for safety services. **What do you dislike about Inmarsat?** Not much to dislike. Inmarsat is a well-established organization. **What problems is Inmarsat solving and how is that benefiting you?** Worked with solving Inmarsat C issue of different make which include Sailor, JRC, And Furuno. Also worked with Fleet broadband of different make and models have sailor 150/250/500 , JRC 250/500/251/501 Furuno 250/500/251/501 ### 3. Mandatory system onboard ships. Receiving Enhanced Group Calling messages, Long Range Information and Tracking, email and telephone. **What do you like best about Inmarsat?** Receiving important navigational warnings and weather reports from various land-earth stations on a regular basis with good coverage. Easy to use interface with multiple useful functions. **What do you dislike about Inmarsat?** Nothing much to dislike. It's sometimes difficult to login to a satellite when changing sea areas, eg: from AORW to POR. It is also difficult sometimes to get a good signal in certain areas in the pacific ocean. **What problems is Inmarsat solving and how is that benefiting you?** INMARSAT systems contribute to the safe navigation of vessels at sea. They are also an integral part of the Global Maritime Distress and Safety System(GMDSS) contributing to the safety of life at sea. ### 5. Sometimes I have to wait 2 - 3 days to answer an issue that I am facing. **Recommendations to others considering Inmarsat:** Inmarsat is the leader and the founder of Satellite Communications in the industry for many years now. All the maritime services are coming from there, so business-wise it's one way, either you go direct to Inmarsat or a partner. In General, doing business with Inmarsat, I can say that it is Good despite some negatives where all the Maritime Solution Companies have. **What problems is Inmarsat solving and how is that benefiting you?** Most of the problems that I had to solve with Inmarsat had to do with FleetBroand / Fleet / Email solution. ### 6.
