## IBM Cloudability Reviews
  ### 1. A great tool for multi cloud

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Tamas G. | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 13, 2025

**What do you like best about IBM Cloudability?**

I enjoy the quick dashboards, fast reporting on the large dataset and the flexibility on managing business context with normalized tagging, business maps and tagging.

**What do you dislike about IBM Cloudability?**

reporting on the disjointed datasets only possible in Apptio BI, which is slow and have certain limitations on presentation as well.

**What problems is IBM Cloudability solving and how is that benefiting you?**

normalization of the cloud cost data. richer right sizing over CSP own engines.

**Official Response from Janie Carothers:**

> Hi Tamas,

Thank you for sharing your positive experience with IBM Cloudability. We're committed to providing efficient and flexible tools for managing cloud costs, and we appreciate your feedback on areas for improvement. We'll take your concerns about reporting on disjointed datasets into consideration as we work to enhance our platform.

  ### 2. Excellent Finops Product

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Brian T. | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 02, 2024

**What do you like best about IBM Cloudability?**

Solid product that ingests all of the relevant data from our cloud providers (AWS, Azure, GCP). and provides transparency and savings insights across multiple levers for each.

**What do you dislike about IBM Cloudability?**

Reporting is not great for reporting on containers, escpecially for AWS. We would like to get better information for usage and potential savings as well. This has improved over time.

**What problems is IBM Cloudability solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Provides the best reporting solution by ingesting the several million rows of data each month. Gives us insights on how to best perform finops - savings for multiple opportunities, anything from undersubscribed CPU/storage, unused instances, Allows us to customize the reporting to target specific focus areas: tagging, reserved instances, efficiencies.

**Official Response from Janie Carothers:**

> Hi Brian!

We're glad to hear that IBM Cloudability is providing you with valuable insights and transparency across multiple cloud providers. We appreciate your feedback on the reporting for containers and AWS, and we are continuously working to improve in those areas.

  ### 3. Financial Tool for Engineers

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jamie C. | IT Resources Manager, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 06, 2024

**What do you like best about IBM Cloudability?**

It is easy to forget with my finance background that engineers don't speak the same language. I love that Cloudability allows for the reporting of both financial and usage metrics so we can introduce the engineers to the finance side. I also appreciate how everything I need the engineers to look at and consider resides in one tool and also allows for self-serivce.

**What do you dislike about IBM Cloudability?**

I do wish that views didn't have to be created based on Account ID or Name to filter down all of the tool (Anomaly and Rightsizing).

**What problems is IBM Cloudability solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Our engineers had no visibility prior to this tool on what their projects were costing our company or what levers could be pulled to adjust their cost.

**Official Response from Janie Carothers:**

> Hi Jamie!

We love hearing that IBM Cloudability is a useful tool for you!

Anomaly detection needs to be more real time

  ### 5. Improved insight into cloud spend and budgeting

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Utilities | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 13, 2025

**What do you like best about IBM Cloudability?**

The way the UI presents the information allowing for actionable results. Ease of use and the ability to use business metrics to group and sort spend. Powerful reporting and dashboarding capabilities.

**What do you dislike about IBM Cloudability?**

The cost of the solution can be prohibitive and the budgeting and planning elements not being able to be dashboarded in the essentials package. K8s integration is good but is missing deeper integration with K8s which hopefully the recent Kubecost acquisition will help improve.

**What problems is IBM Cloudability solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Visibility and cost control

  ### 6. Great to get Cloud spend mapped to business value and share insights with FinOps stakeholders

**Official Response from Janie Carothers:**

> Hi Pawel,

We're glad to hear that you find IBM Cloudability intuitive and flexible for generating insights. We appreciate your feedback about cost allocation and will take it into consideration for future improvements.

  ### 7. AA with CLDY

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Kim D. | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 05, 2024

**What do you like best about IBM Cloudability?**

The way we can make cloud visible and allocate costs to our end users!

**What do you dislike about IBM Cloudability?**

How some of the products are disjointed. The way we allocate costs in Total Costs but have to toggle to Cloudability to realize other reports and dashboard data. Front end application users should not have to learn how to toggle these systems. We would like to use Rightsizing and other features but does not seem to work well withthe data we have in Total Cost.

**What problems is IBM Cloudability solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Making cloud visible. We previously did not have this visibility and this helps solve that for app teams

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Kenneth H. | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 05, 2024

**What do you like best about IBM Cloudability?**

End users can get the data they need at a glance and drill into cost composition detail quickly and easily

**What do you dislike about IBM Cloudability?**

The reports offer very little flexibility and visualization, and the dashboard UI is at times too rigid, especially with Apptio BI.

**What problems is IBM Cloudability solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Combined with a relatively mature FinOps practice, Cloudability provides our FinOps team, IT leadership, and engineers valuable insight into the makeup of our cloud spend, has given actionable rightsizing insights, and enables us to track against budget in one simple place.

  ### 12. Great visibility of Cloud resources

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Financial Services | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 14, 2025

**What do you like best about IBM Cloudability?**

Being able to see Cloud resources across multiple CSPs from a high and granular level plus recommendations on optimisation.

  ### 13. A great product for cloud cost transparency

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Information Technology and Services | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 13, 2025

**What do you like best about IBM Cloudability?**

The ease of use; customization and ability to apply role-based access relatively easily. Cost optimization recommendations are sometimes better than recommendations provided by a provider natively.

**What do you dislike about IBM Cloudability?**

Enhancement rollouts are very slow. Product roadmap target dates almost never met. Customer support has deteriorated since IBM takeover

**What problems is IBM Cloudability solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Cloud cost transparency across a federated environment

  ### 14. Good product, subpar support experience

**Rating:** 2.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Games | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 28, 2024

**What do you like best about IBM Cloudability?**

We found that Cloudability gave us a much simpler and more useful breakdown of our costs vs the Cost Explorer in AWS, though AWS is always improving their own tools. We also really liked the monthly reports of which direction costs were trending for which services. It was overall a helpful tool in planning our reserved instances, and we liked that it consolidates reporting from multiple cloud service providers.

**What do you dislike about IBM Cloudability?**

We found the contract/renewal/billing process to be quite opaque, and didn't have the best experience making changes. Part of this is due to our contract renewal happening during staffing changes internally. We had to contact support to resolve billing and account closure issues. Our account manager was not able to help us easily with changes to our account.

**What problems is IBM Cloudability solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Our goal with Cloudability was to make informed decisions about AWS Reserved Instances, and attempt to forecast and control our AWS spend.

**Official Response from Janie Carothers:**

> Thank you for taking the time to leave us a review. We strive to make our customers wildly successful, and we’re sorry to hear that we missed the mark here. We have taken your feedback on board, and we will strive to make improvements accordingly. To further show our deepest apologies and gratitude, would you please consider emailing us at customerfeedback@apptio.com to discuss this further?

Kind regards,
Apptio Team

Ease of use for everyone not just engineers

**What do you dislike about IBM Cloudability?**

The number of variables continues to grow resulting in more complexity for those who are not using the tool regularly

Apptio’s FinOps platform has an AI-based anomaly detection feature. It helps review all cloud bills and informs the users if there is any unusual spending pattern.

Apptio has a strong practice in the U.S. and European markets and a growing practice in Australia, where it leverages its own sales personnel. ### 34. Cloudability, One of the best Cloud Cost Governance Tool

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Om Prasad S. | Senior Software Engineer, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 06, 2023

**What do you like best about IBM Cloudability?**

The best thing about CLDY is to get the Anomaly spend detection which is a great feature to get aware about the excessive spend/day by setting a limit.

**What do you dislike about IBM Cloudability?**

Would have been great to add a feature to link EBS & Snapshots with EC2 when cost of EC2 instance gets generated

**What problems is IBM Cloudability solving and how is that benefiting you?**

CLDY helps to organise the cost dashboards and provides features like cost optimization

  ### 35. One stop shop for your cloud economist

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Satinderpal S. | Chief Architect, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 30, 2024

**What do you like best about IBM Cloudability?**

The most helpful for it being providing support for multi cloud environments, it shows way more details then the AWS recommendations, and has a very user friendly interface, integration with AWS and GCP environments is quite seamless.

**What do you dislike about IBM Cloudability?**

Would be amazing if it can integrate with the data center as well so that there is one stop shop for all costs vs looking at multiple interfaces. Would also like to see Apptio giving more and more customization capability to the end users.

**What problems is IBM Cloudability solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Bringing the bottom line costs down with costs available on fingertips to the entire org.

  ### 36. Cloud Cost Management Solutions Need to evolve to cover non-cloud costs

**Rating:** 2.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jeff J. | Job hunter extraordinaire, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 30, 2024

**What do you like best about IBM Cloudability?**

Aption allowed me to report on and identify wasted cloud spend in multiple clouds.

**What do you dislike about IBM Cloudability?**

At the time Aptio didn't allow me to bring in non-cloud saas and paas spend. For example, competitors allow me to report on my monitoring costs, my cdn costs, my software licensing costs, etc which also need reporting an optimization. See Vantage and Finout for example.

**What problems is IBM Cloudability solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Reporting and helping me understand the sources of my cloud spend. Seeing where that spend is coming from helps me focus on optimizing the most high impact areas for my clients business.

  ### 37. Detailed Cost Savings Report and Dashboard

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Siranjeevi D. | Product Manager, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 31, 2024

**What do you like best about IBM Cloudability?**

While applications move rapidly to the cloud, the general trade-off is to reach productivity and availability cheaply. Cloudability helps quantify the enterprise spend on cloud and smoothes the communication of cloud financial management.

**What do you dislike about IBM Cloudability?**

The tool provides complicated recommendations that can confuse and derail new users from picking the right recommendation. Widgets are difficult to understand and can take a good chunk of time exploring.

**What problems is IBM Cloudability solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Visibility into consumption by type, environment and others
Usage recommendation and ability to resize based on usage
Financial Overview and profitability score calculation

  ### 38. CLDY Review- Abhisheik Sharma

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Financial Services | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 05, 2024

**What do you like best about IBM Cloudability?**

One stop shop for consumption based information as well as rightisizing savings

**What do you dislike about IBM Cloudability?**

The visual reporting capabilities lag greatly behind a tableau-like software. Could greatly improve here.

**What problems is IBM Cloudability solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Providing our application owners with insights in how to optimize their cloud footprint. Forecasting module has been a big help.

  ### 39. Review

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Health, Wellness and Fitness | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 30, 2024

**What do you like best about IBM Cloudability?**

Easy to create dashboards and support for new products

**What do you dislike about IBM Cloudability?**

API could use some work. Names of items are not the same in APIs. For instance, a business mapping in cloudability might be called a "Super cool item," but in the APIs, it might be called "map3". The unique ID makes sense in case the name is changed but it would be nice to have this ID seen on the business map to find it faster.

**What problems is IBM Cloudability solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Getting the cost to the team managers in a simple formate

  ### 40. Apptio cloudability in my opinion

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Waseem A. | Associate Engineering Manager - Cloud Engineering, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 31, 2024

**What do you like best about IBM Cloudability?**

Apptio has easy and simple integration with AWS, NewRelic, K8s etc., it is very simle and easy to integrate and use the data. Also, the Business Mapping feature is very helpful since we have multipl cost tags, cost center tags and mapping this to a product/business is easy.

**What do you dislike about IBM Cloudability?**

The cloudability UI could get better in my opinion.

**What problems is IBM Cloudability solving and how is that benefiting you?**

the Business Mapping feature is very helpful since we have multipl cost tags, cost center tags and mapping this to a product/business is easy

**What do you like best about IBM Cloudability?**

**Rating:** 2.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Financial Services | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 29, 2024

**What do you like best about IBM Cloudability?**

We reviewed Cloudability in a bakeoff with other vendors in the cloud cost optimization space
- It has multi cloud support
- Has a lot of bells and whistles for cloud costs especially on AWS & GCP

**What do you dislike about IBM Cloudability?**

- Pricing being a % of spend is not scalable as it drives the wrong incentives
- Overly complicated setup for getting onboarded
- Tailoring the reporting was much harder

**What problems is IBM Cloudability solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Driving cost optimization in cloud spending is a key for driving efficiencies and profitability and we need a tool that is easy to use, integrates into our setup and provides reporting for different teams like finance, cloud operations etc.
