**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Information Technology and Services | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 21, 2023

**What do you like best about IBM Cloudability?**

Cloudability is great. There are a few things I find to be clunky, but overall its a great product.

**What do you dislike about IBM Cloudability?**

Adding new users to Cloudability is a pain. And our new users do not receive a welcome email due to us using SSO

**What problems is IBM Cloudability solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Cloudability is helping us implement showback and eventually chargeback. Cloudability makes it easy for us to show users how much they are using/spending.

  ### 4. A good tool to analyze cloud costs

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Cristian B. | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 22, 2024

**What do you like best about IBM Cloudability?**

Cloudability has a clean interface and is easy to use.

**What do you dislike about IBM Cloudability?**

I believe that Cloudability can offer much more value by providing more functionalities through its API, such as custom data extraction, enabling Service Accounts for administrative functions that should not depend on a specific user's ApiKey. I also think there are opportunities for improvement in the Business Mappings interface.

**What problems is IBM Cloudability solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Global overview of costs across different cloud providers.

  ### 5. Good application to manage multi-cloud CSP cost and usage data

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Financial Services | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 26, 2023

**What do you like best about IBM Cloudability?**

It can efficiently handle multi-cloud cost and usage data from different CSP vendors. Provides customizations in Business metrics and Business dimensions. Provides good visualization of data and easy to prepare reports and dashboards. Easy to manage views, users and access adminstration. Easy to connect CSP accounts and manage vendor credentials. Good rightsizing recommendations provided.

**What do you dislike about IBM Cloudability?**

Report can have only 10 columns. We have raised the change request to make it 20 columns but it never happened. When you export a report, the customized business metrics colum names do not appear which is annoying as we have to manually update the column name in the excel report each time.

**What problems is IBM Cloudability solving and how is that benefiting you?**

we can access the consolidated data from different CSP vendors at one place. It gives us our total mutiple CSP cost and usage data on a desired selected frequency e.g. daily, weekly etc.

  ### 6. A good FinOps tool for cost optimization

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Insurance | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 15, 2024

**What do you like best about IBM Cloudability?**

It is a simple looking tool, that has a great variaty of options, and provides accurate view on public cloud costs, and also provides recommendations for rightsizings, Savings Plans, and Reservations. Also it is useful for getting view of cost allocation for Containers. It is promoting new features regularely

**What do you dislike about IBM Cloudability?**

The forecasting feature is limited, as it does not show forecasts per accounts, but only per services

**What problems is IBM Cloudability solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We need to have better visibility on alerting when some accounts have problems (missing credentials, API expired) Currently a lot of the stuff has to be done manually. In general more automation is required

  ### 7. Cloud spend analysis

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Gigi G. | Partner Sales, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 30, 2024

**What do you like best about IBM Cloudability?**

Insights into mulitplatform CSP spend and analysis output

**What do you dislike about IBM Cloudability?**

UI could be improved to support learning curve of platform quickly and better adoption

**What problems is IBM Cloudability solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Apptio Cloudability allows businesses to allocate cloud costs to business units to support chargebacks, accountability, and project justification

  ### 8. Solid tool, horrible API

**Rating:** 2.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Matt J. | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 18, 2023

**What do you like best about IBM Cloudability?**

Cost insights on cloud resources provide a lot of useful information. Anomaly detection is helpful for pinpointing unexpected changes and issues in the cloud environment.

**What do you dislike about IBM Cloudability?**

The cloud account onboarding process and the API is painful to deal with. While the documentation is very good, the experience of interacting with the API is horrendous. Onboarding accounts is a roll of the dice to see if the account is going to be visbile within Cloudability after being created in the Organization (AWS) with many of them failing to be discovered within 15 minutes, even after re-discovering the master account to trigger an update (the docs say to wait at most 5 minutes).

**What problems is IBM Cloudability solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Analyzing cloud resource usage pertaining to cost and detecting anomalous behavior within the charges. Being able to see a breakdown by service allows us to see where most of the money is going.

**Official Response from Lauren Rappold:**

> Hi Matt,

Thank you for taking the time to leave us a review. We strive to make our customers wildly successful, and we’re sorry to hear that we missed the mark here. We have taken your feedback on board, and we will strive to make improvements accordingly. **Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Software | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 30, 2024

**What do you like best about IBM Cloudability?**

I enjoyed the reporting tools and the use of unit economics within Cloudability.
The multiple features from rightsizing, forecasting and anomaly detection were all useful for finops practicioners.

**What do you dislike about IBM Cloudability?**

I don't like that they charge seperately for the TotalCost module, that should be included in the base platform.

**What problems is IBM Cloudability solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Helping to mature the finops practice at our company by providing a one stop shop for all our cloud cost management and spend. Identify insights for savings opportunities as well.

**Reviewed Date:** August 18, 2023

We really liked the ease of showing costs at various levels for the company through the views
We also like the weekly cadences with our TAM, it helps a lot to solve the team's doubts on a weekly basis.

**What do you dislike about IBM Cloudability?**

The disadvantages of Cloudability are the small amount of graphics enabled, the fact that you cannot adjust simple things on the dashboard such as changing the color of the graphics, having a search field within the widget itself. In the delay to implement features that we requested

**What problems is IBM Cloudability solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Cloudability helps us to give cost visibility to BV bank, it helps to solve the problem of lack of cost visibility in cloud. We believe that this has not yet helped the business to grow, as the bank still needs to evolve finOPs maturity in other processes

**What do you like best about IBM Cloudability?**

Cloudability is a great tool that offers a friendly user experience, combining simplicity with efficiency. Its user-friendly interface makes it easy to navigate and utilize, allowing users to effortlessly manage their cloud resources. Additionally, the tool's speed is nice, providing real-time data and insights without any noticeable delay. The recommendations for cost optimization are precise. Overall, Cloudability is a 4 star product.

**What do you dislike about IBM Cloudability?**

It would be beneficial if Cloudability could introduce a more user-friendly approach to dashboard governance, enabling seamless collaboration among team members, same goes for subscribing to reports.

**What problems is IBM Cloudability solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Cloudability has enhanced my understanding of my AWS spending and helped me optimize my cloud usage. It provides clear insights into my spending patterns and highlights areas where I can improve efficiency.

  ### 15. Additional visibility into cloud expenses helps optimize usage.

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Farhad S. | Cloud Infrastructure Head, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 18, 2023

**What do you like best about IBM Cloudability?**

Creating visuals is easy which helps for providing reports to upper management. So far I'm quite happy with the responsiveness of the customer support teams. I like the ease with which I can share filtered reports and dashboards with others.

**What do you dislike about IBM Cloudability?**

Feature parity across the 4 major clouds is still not the same. AWS support is excellent which is great for us but the other clouds seem a little lagging in feature parity. Anomaly detection is a hit or miss - there are quite a few false positives.

**What problems is IBM Cloudability solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Reduce our cloud footprints. Identify areas in cloud spending that are ballooning out of control. Take appropriate counter measures such as limiting use, moving the application(s) to our DCs, etc.

  ### 16. Cloud ability finops tool

it is helping allocate cost for cloub compustion for mulitaple business units

  ### 17. Apptio Cloudability provides all the actional insights into cloud spend

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Krishna E. | Sr Manager Database Administration, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**What do you like best about IBM Cloudability?**

1st one is about actionable insights into cloudability
The insights are scheduled and automated
These insights are as granular as needed
The personalized dashboards

**What do you dislike about IBM Cloudability?**

At first, as an outsider of the FinOps team, it took additional time for me to get accustomed to restricted access. however by collaborating with FinOps team and interacting more often with the tool, I've understood the product well and found it useful for the firm and interesting for me.

**What problems is IBM Cloudability solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Transparency
Accountablity
near real time analysis
cloud spend reporting

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed Date:** August 22, 2023

**What do you like best about IBM Cloudability?**

The ability to create reports and analysis from multiple sources of data uploaded in Apptio.

**What do you dislike about IBM Cloudability?**

It lacks the ablitiy to automate export of Cloudability reports.

**What problems is IBM Cloudability solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It is a vital tool that sloves issues with manging and analyzing cloud cost.

  ### 19. Helpful software that brings together a lot of different features

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Telecommunications | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 08, 2023

**What do you like best about IBM Cloudability?**

Cloudability makes it easy to find the data you're looking for, whether its adhoc or a recurring report. Thats often the place I go to find interesting trends or need to answer a quick question from an executive.

**What do you dislike about IBM Cloudability?**

The data and reports that are available are mostly directly from the cost and usage report. There isn't a lot of customization of metrics allowed. It would be great to apply additional logic to results to create standard metrics for our use cases. For now, I need to use the api. Bring it out of cloudability, and customize there.

**What problems is IBM Cloudability solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We've identified growing trends within our spend in the cloud, and allowed us to keep spending under control using this discovery. The savings has opened up our options for investing in other areas this year and beyond.

  ### 20. Good user experience

  ### 22. Apptio Cloudability SaaS effectively helps us optimize our software license subscription & SaaS cost

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Shreya B. | Cloud Engineer, Information Technology and Services, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 09, 2023

**What do you like best about IBM Cloudability?**

1. Apptio Cloudability SaaS is a cloud-based software spend management platform which grants us visibility on the SaaS costs of our project.

2. It has various control management & SaaS procurement functionalities that aligns suitably with our enterprise applications.

3. With its expense recommendations, we can consolidate the pricing models of different SaaS providers and identify areas where expenses are unnecessary.

4. This also helps with knowing the overall IT expenditures and effectively optimizing them based on our dynamic use cases.

5. All data-driven investment models can be quickly articulated from its SaaS cost portfolio & we give brief presentations about our business approaches and cost reduction strategies to our clients.

**What do you dislike about IBM Cloudability?**

We don't find anything noteworthy to be mentioned as a dislikable feature in Apptio services. All SaaS consumption reports are generated with just a few clicks. We can track them easily in its intuitive observability & monitoring console. Spend forecast and license renewal updates are also accurate for SaaS management.

**What problems is IBM Cloudability solving and how is that benefiting you?**

1. Apptio Cloudabilty SaaS aids us with our software application portfolio and spend management.

2. It quickly identifies various budget drains, such as least utilized software applications, unused services and duplicate applications, and we decommission those applications.

3. Each user is mapped to their application requirements, usage and associated license cost by Apptio spend management console, so there is excellent categorization & transparency.

4. All SaaS subscriptions are tracked under a single pane of glass &its Application Consolidation feature is remarkable for our end-user audits.

5. We can also enable automatic alert notifications with a customizable date before license expiration. This helps us prevent software unavailability & keep the renewal date under observation.

  ### 23. Helps me to manage cloud cost more effeciently

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Tanzeem M. | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 15, 2024

**What do you like best about IBM Cloudability?**

It is well integrated with AWS cloud csst

**What do you dislike about IBM Cloudability?**

It needs to produce more tutorial for the users

**What problems is IBM Cloudability solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Using view we can group accounts and get a consolidated expense for each division.

  ### 24. Pretty good, but not the best

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Telecommunications | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 18, 2023

**What do you like best about IBM Cloudability?**

The product is relatively easy to use for basic use cases. The on-boarding team is thorough and was able to teach even senior FinOps individuals new approaches to maintaining healthy Cloud costs.

**What do you dislike about IBM Cloudability?**

Some of the dashboarding features do not work well. The Cloudability product is always described as being deprecated in favor of the "new product". Simple things need to be adjusted on a monthly basis and cannot be auto-updated as competitor products easily handle.

**What problems is IBM Cloudability solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Cloudability enables our team to analyze cloud usage and consumption very quickly. This information is not as easily surfaced quickly in AWS. We can identify fast mechanisms to instantly reduce our cloud costs should it be necessary. We are now under budget.

  ### 25. Very helpful to automate costs tracking

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Electrical/Electronic Manufacturing | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 11, 2023

**What do you like best about IBM Cloudability?**

The Cloudability API is great, it allow us to run reports passing customized "dimensions" that are used to track specific AWS tags, on this way we have a lot of granularity to isolate charges, at project and domain level.

**What do you dislike about IBM Cloudability?**

Sometimes the different Costs available for very specific AWS services are hard to be understand, I would say this is more related about how the charges are performed at AWS account level.

**What problems is IBM Cloudability solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The management of costs from multiple AWS accounts at enterpise level, having all the costs consolidated and also having access to the discounts at AWS enterprise level is very helpful, discounts are not tracked properly or they do not appear at all using the individual AWS account billing reports.

  ### 26. Great usage and customization for those familiar with the source data.

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Nick M. | Director, Commercial Strategy, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 28, 2023

**What do you like best about IBM Cloudability?**

It has a lot of customization that can meet the needs of many users. For those not familiar with the source data it might be confusing but having an admin who understands the data this provides an amazing amount of customization.

**What do you dislike about IBM Cloudability?**

The customization can be a double edged sword where you end up with so much customized reports people aren't sure of where to go. I think having a standard set of reports set up as a best practice and use the one off's for specific use cases not covered by the standard reports and if used enough they convert to a standard report. If this process is not setup there will be confusion.

**What problems is IBM Cloudability solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Gaining visibility into costs incurred on our behalf as well as user reports to see what users are using which services that we can target. Overall cost management as well as prioritization for cross sells.

  ### 27. Apptio Cloudability review

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Ashish R. | Deputy Manager, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 20, 2023

**What do you like best about IBM Cloudability?**

It is a cost effective management tool with granular filters which helps us to track our cloud spending and plan budget for cloud services.
The dashboards and reports are also easier to manage as there are good metrices available to drill down the cost.

**What do you dislike about IBM Cloudability?**

Overall it's a good product but sometimes it is very difficult for us customize some dashboard and reports view. And sometimes it is also difficult to export the reports.

**What problems is IBM Cloudability solving and how is that benefiting you?**

This tool has helped us to to analyse the spendings on cloud and incorporate the findings for a client management.
It has helped us to forecast cost of services and allocate budget for the projects and complete it in cost effective manner.

  ### 28. Very Good tool and easy to be tracking the resources reports based tags, accounts and dimensions

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

Apptio Cloudability solving the probelme to Lack of Cost Visibility and Control,Cloud Cost Overruns and Overspending, Inaccurate Cost Allocation,Budget Management Challenges,Inefficient Resource Usage,Multi-Cloud Complexity and Cloud Governance.

  ### 29. All-in-one tool for cost visibility

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Manufacturing | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 08, 2023

**What do you like best about IBM Cloudability?**

The ease of connecting aws accounts to the tool and getting it up and running as well as the comprehensive reporting makes Cloudabiltiy a great cost management tool.

**What do you dislike about IBM Cloudability?**

Can tend to be slow at times and frequent outages. Also, a bit of a learning curve to "learn" the names of values and dimensions to really get the most out of the tool.

**What problems is IBM Cloudability solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Ability to report granularly on multi-cloud costs and create custom mappings to relate costs how we want it which in turn helps us understand who to contact when costs are not as expected.

**What do you like best about IBM Cloudability?**

I love how I get a detailed Monthly summary with spend, percentage over prior month and top 7 spends

**What do you dislike about IBM Cloudability?**

A lot of emails but it's ok. I don't have any majore disclikes about the product. It's straightforward

**What problems is IBM Cloudability solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I get to see what is going on with our useage

  ### 31. Best software for cloud cost management and optimization

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Saravanan K. | Project Manager, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 17, 2023

**What do you like best about IBM Cloudability?**

Apptio cloudability is user friendly in case of the finanacial management that monitors the cloud computing related costs. It's very helpful for a budget cloud management with cost effective.

**What do you dislike about IBM Cloudability?**
