The Bob interface makes it very easy to work through the solution. During our proof of concept, we integrated our installation with our test environments in minutes, and we were able to jump straight into simple tests to see how it worked.

We had multiple machines with known issues, and Bob was able to quickly evaluate them and suggest remedies that could potentially resolve those problems. After asking for our permission, we let Bob do its thing, and it provided an in-depth analysis of the current situation, along with a clear review of what it was about to do to address the issues.

IBM Bob makes a lot of assumptions, even though there are still many unknowns, such as the new terms. I tried to discuss the migration, which I believe is new knowledge; however, it assumed the migration was based on old knowledge, which led it to suggest the wrong feature. I’d like IBM Bob to ask more questions before doing too much around the migration topic. Once I added more context, like the documentation on how to migrate, it worked perfectly and as expected. It’s not just a prompt-based coding tool; it’s a complete development environment that generates documentation, runs tests, and creates a plan for all the activities involved. BOB Coins are easily consumed and it happens often that a development is stopped because of the lack of bob coins, even when it is running the last step of the deployment. I mainly use IBM Bob for coding support and particularly appreciate the Premium Package for Z. IBM Bob helps me better understand my existing legacy applications by establishing connections and explaining variables, programs, and program flows. I particularly like the ability to choose the most suitable yet cost-effective model to save tokens while still receiving meaningful responses. The dependency analysis works great; I can get entire diagrams of my application structure with just a few prompts and have them explained to me, which is a great advantage for refactoring. The product offers significantly more features in the enterprise environment than other AI code assistants and feels more complete overall. The platform could be improved by adding a real-time UI badge that clearly shows which backend LLM is currently active, along with a built-in token tracker so I can monitor prompt usage and costs directly within the product and onborad support can have more agents in loop for reducing cognitive load of search and setting context.
