No different than ransomware **Rating:** 0.0/5.0 stars **Reviewed by:** Ereck L. | Founder / Co-Owner, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.) **Reviewed Date:** August 13, 2024 **What do you like best about HugeDomains?** There are no upsides to companies like this accept that they have sought to extort so many people and hold domains ransom at such a large scale that perhaps some light will be shed on the problem and reveal much needed change in ICANN policy as well as federal and international law. **What do you dislike about HugeDomains?** HugeDomains uses unethical methods and bots to steal domains from people. When a previously registered domain goes into 30 days grace a holding period that is supposed to be preserved by registrars, Huge Domains has ways to pull the domain from the grace period before the 30 days. This means if your CC expires unbeknownst because you have it on auto-renew every three years which causes the domain renewal to fail, these guys can swoop in and steal domains that nobody else cares about accept for the individual who held the domain and then basically hold it hostage. All before you even get the email showing a payment issue. They're no different than ransomware and they are extortionists. Well the joke is on them in my case, they will have my domain FOREVER because it contains part of my name and is specific to industry, there aren't anymore of me, and I am not playing further victim to their crime. I will use a different domain name. G2 asks for our primary role when using HugeDomains, it is "Victim" **What problems is HugeDomains solving and how is that benefiting you?** HugeDomains does not seek to solve any industry problems, they are the problem and it is of no benefit to me or anyone else. ### 2. They take advantage of people and try to make money from misfortune. They are to be avoided at all costs. What they're doing is extortion, plain and simple. **What do you dislike about HugeDomains?** They use bots to re-register domains as soon as they expire and try to resell them back to the original owners at ferocious markups. The domain I would have renewed at $10 they are trying to sell back to me for $6,200. It's insane. There is literally no one who wants my domain but me and they know that. They are not willing to listen to reason and are just bottom-feeding opportunistic idiots. Don't fall for their scams. **What problems is HugeDomains solving and how is that benefiting you?** No problems are solved with this company. They are just profiting from the misfortune of others. I am a small business owner and the price keeps going up. I've asked to pay less and never get a response. Many years ago, I created this domain and when my credit card auto payment slipped due to a card hack after which I forgot to update in auto pay, these people purchased my domain without letting me know that my payment was late and even thought I've asked to purchase back MY domain name at a lesser price, they won't do it. The internet is littered with stories of how huge domains squatted on names and various sharp practices, but don't take my word for it, google them and always do your own research. They have a tendency to drop domains when you least expect it. They also buy up domains for trademarked names, which is shady. They don't often heed the The Anticybersquatting Consumer Protection Act (ACPA). **Recommendations to others considering HugeDomains:** I recommend going to literally any other domain provider, unless you have no other options.
