I have discovered that it is a trial and error process at first to get the QoS levels than the tuning of certain types of devices. The Control Center UI is great for a high level overview of the cluster health and message throughput but diving into the logs to trace a particular client ID's connection history can be a bit of a manual work. The ease in which HiveMQ can be used to support an extremely broad and disparate group of IoT devices including simple sensors all the way up to complex actuators is what has been transformative in our business. We specifically like that its topic architecture is flexible enough to split the city data into according to individual department at a granular level like /traffic/sensors or /waste/bins and there is no performance penalty incurred. HiveMQ really excels at the intermittent device connections. We regularly deploy remote sensors in locations with poor cellular connectivity and we very seldom lose telemetry as a result of its smart buffering.
