**Reviewed by:** Laurent-Philippe G. | CTO, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 24, 2023

I once encountered a weird issue that caused the entire database to stop working. I was able to resolve it on my own by resetting the users via the online administration interface.

**What problems is Google Cloud SQL solving and how is that benefiting you?**

SQL administration via a Linux box is time consuming and requires expertise in Linux systems. Google Cloud SQL manages it for me, so I don't need to worry as much about the Linux system and scaling the instance.

Data is critical to the business, and esp. structured. SQL is the standard, so having turnkey sql databases available quickly, and that run smoothly for as long as needed [ ex: a long time once in production ], that keeps us moving along, and without needing to dedicate significant engineering effort to maintainance/updates/etc.

It has so many good features but what I like the most is the fact that when I am stuck, I can find the answer online because it has a big community.
With a few clicks, I can do the integration I want to do. There is big documentation about everything.

**What do you dislike about Google Cloud SQL?**

Cloud structure can be complicated for someone who doesn't know much about coding. I feel like if you want Google Cloud, then you need to use other Google products as well. In a nutshell, Google wants you to integrate your platform with another Google platform.

**Recommendations to others considering Google Cloud SQL:**

Do it. Users only pay for the amount of data you store, which makes it super desirable in my eye.

**What problems is Google Cloud SQL solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use Google Cloud SQL to schedule reports and send them to our Data Visualization board as accelerated, which makes our reports very fast.
Other than that, we use for CI/CD pipelines. For example, we had our marketing data on Gamesight, and via APIs, we export csv files every day.

  ### 25. The perfect tool to query data

- Very easy and convenient to use
- User-friendly UI
- Supports integration with other GCP services
- Easy to migrate from other relational databases

**What do you dislike about Google Cloud SQL?**

Nothing really serious as such, which I dislike about Cloud SQL. Having more of a feature request rather than an issue - if PubSub could push the data direct into Cloud SQL, how it could be pushed directly to BigQuery.

**What problems is Google Cloud SQL solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We are using Google Cloud SQL as a managed relational database for all our needs. The best thing here is it easily integrates with other Google Cloud services.

  ### 27. Best Database platform for modern users and developers

Easy to integrate with MySQL and PostgreSQL databases. Within a short period, we can create a database and monitor your changes or developments easily and quickly with ease and accurately.

**What do you dislike about Google Cloud SQL?**

I could not find many disadvantages with this except in some cases where there are multiple databases, backup is the issue. We can not take backups on each database.

**What problems is Google Cloud SQL solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Creating multiple databases and maintaining them was very difficult in other database systems . But Google Cloud SQL helped us do that more efficiently and saved our time and Manpower.

  ### 28. The best Structured DB offering yet

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Udesh U. | Course Instructor, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 20, 2023

**What do you like best about Google Cloud SQL?**

CloudSQL offer 3 types of SQL databases. Whether MySQL, PostgresSQL and SQLServer, this is the place to go. Availability, reliability is a major advantage. Worth the shot for a better cost.

**What do you dislike about Google Cloud SQL?**

This can be costly and its not globally scalable. Its a regional resource and can only be deployed on multiple regions if there is a need of higher availability or reliability.

**What problems is Google Cloud SQL solving and how is that benefiting you?**

This saves the operational overhead of managing and maintaining the traditional databases on data centers. This is a huge step in saving the human efforts and cutting down costs.

**What do you like best about Google Cloud SQL?**

The fully-managed service and scalability is nice, which makes it much easier to setup and manage something on-prem

**What do you dislike about Google Cloud SQL?**

There are other solutions, even within GCP (cloud spanner, bigquery, alloyDB), that can often be more applicable to each use case

**What problems is Google Cloud SQL solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I had to migrate a MySQL DB instance from an on-prem machine to a cloud-based service

  ### 30. Cloud SQL at Google

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Software | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 16, 2023

**What do you like best about Google Cloud SQL?**

The best features about cloud SQL are its high availabity as well as the fact that we don't have to manage updates, scalability and protection. It is well integrated with other services which helps managing logs or implementing backups and such.

**What do you dislike about Google Cloud SQL?**

Although it scales very well it cannot support as much storage capacity as other solutions in the google cloud stack. its cost is also higher and it only accept a small batch of database founders.

Logging is also rather complicated.

**What problems is Google Cloud SQL solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It provides a one-to-one solution to easily migrate on premise SQL databases to the cloud. As it's fully managed, it requires much less effort to manage the database and one can concentrate on more important tasks such as database modeling or applications.

  ### 31. Cloud SQL: Solution for Databases

**What do you dislike about Google Cloud SQL?**

I haven't had anything to dislike about Google SQL; maybe when I start working more with it, I will run into some issues that will cause me headaches. But for now at the associate level I don't dislike anything about Cloud SQL.

**What problems is Google Cloud SQL solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I started with a straightforward MYSQL database to track my expenses and fitness journal. So for me when being able to access it from basically anywhere in the world helped me.

**What do you like best about Google Cloud SQL?**

Cloud SQL helps you to automate all the boring parts of getting a database online. Things like OS upgrades, database patches and serving data to data warehouses can be a challenge without many immediate rewards, so why bother? Cloud SQL automates all of these things, saving me a lot of time.

**What do you dislike about Google Cloud SQL?**

There is no option to run databases in a serverless way like BigQuery, where you only pay for processing if you need it. You pay for the processing and the available storage even if you don't use it.

**What problems is Google Cloud SQL solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Cloud SQL takes care of all the operational burden you, as a data engineer, would generally have to tackle. Because it automates all these things, you have a lot of time left to work on things that do more for your business.
