## Embold Reviews
  ### 1. Meaningful and actionable insights into your code

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Amit A. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 14, 2020

**What do you like best about Embold?**

Once connected to our repository, Gamma was able to a very good job of static code analysis and reveal correctness and accuracy of the design patterns used in the code. This is a unique proposition of the product and unlike any other in the market. Most other static code analysis products show me obvious issues which of course Gamma does too.

The UI is intuitive and easy to use. Integrations across all tools in the CI/CD pipeline make it easy to implement rules before code gets pushed to the main branch.

**What do you dislike about Embold?**

Setup may take time and especially if it's an on-premise Git.

**Recommendations to others considering Embold:**

Check out the free version first which can connect to your hosted GIT repo. It will generate a report which you can easily interpret and navigate.

**What problems is Embold solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Integrated in our CI/CD pipeline, it shows me if I am breaking any of the standard design principles in my code. This leads to we shipping better and maintainable code.

  ### 2. Simple and Meaningful

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Swarup B. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 12, 2020

**What do you like best about Embold?**

Clean and easy to use UI. Once my code base was connected, Gamma actually came up with the detailed analysis about code quality, design patterns, coupling between components etc. I can easily get to know what's really happening in the code at any point in time. This detailed analysis distinguishes Gamma from other code scanners.

**What do you dislike about Embold?**

Noting as such. Took me a little while to understand the report.

**What problems is Embold solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It shows how well written the code is. It tells me right away if I am following standard practises and no anti patterns are implemented. This gives me the opportunity to make my code more maintainable.

  ### 3. Overall Good

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Phaneendra Y. | associate consultant, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 21, 2019

**What do you like best about Embold?**

Overall experience was good. setup is easy and handy user experience was good. graphical representation was good.

**What do you dislike about Embold?**

the thing we observed we cant upload our custom quality profile files.

**What problems is Embold solving and how is that benefiting you?**

code enhancements, analysis , coverage

  ### 4. Easy to use and clear overview for managers

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Angelina E. | Founder & CEO, Internet, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 07, 2019

**What do you like best about Embold?**

The option to have a broad overview and the go deeper into different areas and issues. It provides actionable insight for managers to improve code quality and helps me to understand the current status of our development.

**What do you dislike about Embold?**

Nothing yet, it took a while to get our code ready to scan, but their support is super helpful and figured it out for us.

**Recommendations to others considering Embold:**

Make use of their support team and resources to learn enough about the product to make full use of it.

**What problems is Embold solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Working with an external development agency, Embold gives us an overview and insight into quality and development status.

  ### 5. Smooth, project management with intelligent program analysis

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Higher Education | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 25, 2020

**What do you like best about Embold?**

The web integration, performance was top notch

**What do you dislike about Embold?**

There could have been more data flow analysis

**Recommendations to others considering Embold:**

Since the trial version exists especially for academics, please give it a shot

**What problems is Embold solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I am mostly using it to play around and experiment. Hopefully we would like to host it in our University server for researchers to improve standard of their code as they work on it

  ### 6. Very easy to use, extremely effective

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Gela K. | Cyber Security Specialist, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 31, 2019

**What do you like best about Embold?**

I love how fast it is! It takes just several minutes to review a huge code. It highlights dependencies and design flaws. It's amazing how many metrics Gamma provides. It's something you don't know how much you need.

**What do you dislike about Embold?**

Pricing model is not very flexible. I'd like to be able to purchase a certain amount of scans, for example. With a large code repository, you might need to upgrade to a larger user pack, which shouldn't be necessary.

**Recommendations to others considering Embold:**

It's free to try out, but be careful - once you see how good it is, you won't be able to stay away. It's one of my most recommended products out there.

**What problems is Embold solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It gives great advice about the code and speeds up the whole development process. Gamma lets my team push out features faster than ever. It's also great to show the quality of your code to management.

  ### 7. GAMMA as improved our Software Quality at Scaling Agile Global Community

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Marco K. | Agile Advisor, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 09, 2019

**What do you like best about Embold?**

- Fresh and Innovative Design.
- Easy to use
- Quick Scan Times even at 2 Mio LOC for java, ( Less than 15 minutes)
- Integration with DevOps Ecosystem

**What do you dislike about Embold?**

Multi-Language repository is not yet being supported yet, but we are sure this will be released some day.

**Recommendations to others considering Embold:**

Do try the open-source version, to get a feel of GAMMA.
They also have a help page and Documentation, which is really hepful

**What problems is Embold solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Before introducing GAMMA into our DevOps Process, it was very difficult to find bugs.
After using GAMMA to scan our JAVA Projects, we not only found the Code Issues but came across Design Issues, which we never thought of.

As a Non-Profit Startup, it is important that we deliver a good expierience to our Community.
And also stable apps.

By using GAMMA, we have noted a quicker release of new features as we saved time trying to fnd the bugs.
Came across Design Issues which gave us a good overview on how they are connected to the Code Issues.

  ### 8. Super useful for several non-technical use cases

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Internet | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 08, 2019

**What do you like best about Embold?**

Visualizations, Quality of Metrics, Ease of Use, Relevance for Non-Techies

**What do you dislike about Embold?**

The LOC limits are a bit confusing. I would expect LOC limits to show more transparently, maybe, and more explanations.

**What problems is Embold solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We use it to benchmark and assess quality of open source projects before we use components as part of our Enterprise Architecture stratgy. Also did some projects with this performing technical diligence when working on BlockChain investments. Helps me and less technical peers to talk sensitively and intelligentl about quality issues in large software projects without needing to head to head on every component with the developers.

  ### 9. Delivery manager

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Sanu J. | Delivery Manager, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 09, 2019

**What do you like best about Embold?**

Component wise risks, lonking it to jira and getting pattern alerts

**What do you dislike about Embold?**

Price is liyyle high when compared with sonar cube or any othrr static codw anayalysis tool

**Recommendations to others considering Embold:**

Include importing patters

**What problems is Embold solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Code quality assessment of each team members

  ### 10. technical experiance

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Antonius S. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 01, 2018

**What do you like best about Embold?**

Gamma is more than an Static Code Analysis Tool. Gamma is even more a quality platform for software development. Gamma has been developed as a modular system and in so far Gamma can be easy extended and scaled. Metrics, KPIs and non-negotiable quality indicators as part of the standard package.
State of the art platform!

**What do you dislike about Embold?**

With the GDPR the application of the principle "privacy by design" has been established round Europe . Technical measures have to be used in the context of engineering design and data protection-friendly set up and prove these topics. If these principles are projected on software development, and especially on source code, it is necessary to implement mechanism to analyse data privacy by design and by default.

**What problems is Embold solving and how is that benefiting you?**

As an independent advisor my reputation is everything. Gamma helps clearly and positively demonstrate the quality of my work. Worth (small) investment

  ### 11. Easy to use

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Events Services | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 27, 2019

**What do you like best about Embold?**

Its easy to use makes anything pertaining to work a beeeze

**What do you dislike about Embold?**

There isnt anything that needs to be changed

**Recommendations to others considering Embold:**

Try it

**What problems is Embold solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Makes it easy to do the tedious task

  ### 12. Great insights, easy to handle, management friendly

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Thomas L. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 24, 2018

**What do you like best about Embold?**

I do like the possibility to assure the quality of software development. Gamma provides technical insights and provides help for the developers as well as KPI for the management. The progress of projects is easy to document and to monitor while you can assure that the quality rises.
I couldn't imagine any software development project withouth the use of Gamma anymore.

The software is easy to use and fair priced.

**What do you dislike about Embold?**

I dislike that it took us to long to understand how Gamma could push our projects into a better direction.

**What problems is Embold solving and how is that benefiting you?**

As I mentioned earlier:
- providing hints and tips for developers to improve their source code
- giving insights to the managment what the development teams are working on
- assuring, that the quality of the delivered and implemented source code rises every realease

**Official Response from Ashley Bannon:**

> Hello Mr. Lang,

Thank you for your review! Please feel free to contact our pre-sales support if you need assistance in getting the most out of Gamma.

Best,
Ashley

  ### 13. By far the most mature approach for code quality confirmation/remediation

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Defense & Space | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 03, 2018

**What do you like best about Embold?**

I could analysis my code in minutes with a simple upload of a zip file (other methods possible).
Gamma gave me a complete view of all aspects of my code including design & dependency issues.
I also gave me VALID/RELEVANT metrics Vs the so-called metrics of the more dated tools out there.
Finally, the prioritization engine of Gamma is super-precise and it was human-checked later and verified. It can help save many hours of work, great help.

**What do you dislike about Embold?**

I assume Acellere comes from industry with the best support for C/C++/C##/Objective C and Java.
So the full Gamma experience is somewhat degraded for other languages like Php or JS. Still great results and prioritization but no design issues for example.
It took me some time to understand how to navigate the features, some kind of interactive help-menu would have helped

**What problems is Embold solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Before launching into a business venture I like to investigate the business and the opportunity.
Prior to Gamma I had no reliable, trustworthy insights into the digital assets of the said businesses, nor their product in effect.
Existing tools only gave me lists of code issues and “smells” (wtf??) which obviously equates to nothing!
Now with Gamma I can have that view and compare it/contrast it with other opportunities.

**Official Response from Ashley Bannon:**

> Hello!

Thank you for taking the time out of your day to review Gamma!

I’m happy that our metrics can help you make more well-informed decisions. It is great to hear that Gamma passed your test when you had someone look at it!

We are currently working on building full support of all our languages to be on par with other languages. The content of our new service update will be available on our website.

Do not hesitate to reach out to us for any further comments or questions!

Best,

Ashley

  ### 14. Not used much but a good product

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Software | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 26, 2019

**What do you like best about Embold?**

It makes the code more efficient and clean.

**What do you dislike about Embold?**

It is not very popular amongst the coders.

**What problems is Embold solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It made coding more efficient amongst different peers.

  ### 15. Very powerful tool with a somewhat steep learning curve

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Josh W. | Senior Software Engineer, Marketing and Advertising, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 31, 2018

**What do you like best about Embold?**

The sheer number of metrics and ease of generating them is phenomenal. The default set of evaluation criteria is very well aligned with what you would expect and there was immediate value after the first scan. some of the visualization tools are things I didn't even know I needed in my life until I tried them out. Each repository you add only counts against your LoC limit once, unless you add it as a separate project. You can select which branch you need to scan each time you initiate a scan as well.

**What do you dislike about Embold?**

Some of the descriptions and acronyms are not linked with their definitions yet, but from speaking with the team, that is something that's coming down the pipe. I would ideally like to see their pricing model support line of code packs in exchange for less # of scans, but i understand why their current model doesn't support this. In our use case as more of a static analysis tool, we don't need constant scanning, and we don't need many users to have access to the tool. Unfortunately, with the current model, we would need to upgrade to a 50+ user pack to cover all of the LoC that we would need in order to scan our entire code base.

**Recommendations to others considering Embold:**

Gamma is free to test with open source repositories (there's a limit to the number of scans per day though), so I definitely recommend trying it out with your favorite OSS repo. You'll be able to test out some of the amazing evaluation tools Gamma has built up and I think you'll immediately see the benefit of having it targeted at your own codebase.

**What problems is Embold solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We're using the tool to help identify areas that can be refactored easiest, as well as to help guide those refactors. Being able to easily find all of the giant "god classes" and see how they could be broken cleanly into smaller ones is super helpful.

**Official Response from Ashley Bannon:**

> Hello Josh,

Thank you for your very thorough review and your suggestions!

We are looking into how to adapt our pricing model to fit the majority of our customer’s needs, as well as applying all the necessary updates. I am glad the refractoring function is helping you out the most! Should you have any more questions, or need any help, please do not hesitate to reach out to us.

Best,

Ashley

  ### 16. An awesome refactoring help

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Kenny L. | .Net Developer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 25, 2018

**What do you like best about Embold?**

I like the speed of scanning, the possibility to integrate with Jira and the ease of making issues out of your code smells.

**What do you dislike about Embold?**

There ain't really a thing I dislike. The only two things I missed but ain't necessary are a coupling with VSTS and an app to check scans or do some stuff. I'm used to be able to check some stuff with apps like a bitbucket app.

**What problems is Embold solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Gamma helps me to learn more about code smells and refactoring. It helps me to really look at my code.

  ### 17. wonderful tool !!!

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Accounting | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 17, 2019

**What do you like best about Embold?**

the tool provide best indicators and design issues for our project, we use gamma for our open source project and honestly its a great and powerful tool !!!

**What do you dislike about Embold?**

nothing to dislike in this project,

**What problems is Embold solving and how is that benefiting you?**

audit code + design issues.

  ### 18. Very interesting and promising analytics platform

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Holger G. | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 14, 2018

**What do you like best about Embold?**

Very good UI and usability, partition editor has to be specially mentioned as this offers an intelligent way to provide input to improve software architecture.

**What do you dislike about Embold?**

Missed integration into developers' IDE, was mentioned to exist in the near future though.

**What problems is Embold solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Hints for separation of code and architecture improvement.
Improvement of quality of code.

**Official Response from Ashley Bannon:**

> Hi Mr. Glutsch,

Thank you for taking the time to review Gamma! We appreciate the feedback.

Gamma can already be integrated into Eclipse and Visual Studio for major languages. The IDE integrations are currently only provided with the self-hosted version of Gamma, but we are working on making it available to our cloud customers as well. In addition, we are working on integration into IntelliJ and VS Code.

If you have some specific requirements, we can find an individual solution as well. Please get in contact with our support if this is interesting for you.

Best,
Markus
