The solution is integrated with the Fortinet firewall and easy to use and configure. The solution is also cost-effective and provides a good ROI. The reports provided are nice and quite user-friendly. The integration with the SIEM tools is seamless and something that can be beneficial in SOC monitoring. The signatures sometimes are auto-updated and block some application functionality that needs regular monitoring. The integration with outgoing internet traffic sometimes causes a problem. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is FortiGate IPS solving and how is that benefiting you?

The entire ingress flow is monitored and integration with the Forti threat detection and AV is a good second line defense after the firewall. The signature-wise blocking is good and easy to configure. The solution also works well in case any exception is required. It needs to be innovative and user-friendly when configuring using a mobile device. It is difficult to manage using a laptop or PC. Sometimes in case of firewall rule audit tools, the exports cannot be read by tools, which is a problem as then a machine with the tool needs to be connected to the firewall directly, which is a problem in a WFH scenario. What do you like best about FortiGate IPS?

A few features I appreciate about Fortigate is its UTM functionality which comprises beautifully designed ASICs that can handle traffic without any performance impact. Despite being a Next-Gen Firewall, it has Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

It does not have a full-fledged signature database like other IPS solutions would have. However, the signature database inbuilt on the Firewall is quite comprehensive and is updated regularly.
