Ensign Take-Off is a digital take-off software solution designed for mechanical, electrical, MEP, ductwork, and insulation contractors in the UK construction industry. It enables estimators and contractors to measure and quantify materials directly from PDF drawings, replacing manual measurement methods and reducing the time required to produce accurate take-offs. The software is built around the workflows of specialist subcontractors, making it a practical alternative to spreadsheet-based measurement processes. The software allows users to trace services directly onto imported drawings, automatically calculating quantities for materials such as pipework, cable tray, ductwork, and insulation as they work. Jobs can be organised by section and zone, and the software supports trade-specific component libraries for all five trades. Users can work across multiple drawings and scales within a single job, and a multiplier function allows quantities to be scaled efficiently where repeated elements are present. Take-off data feeds directly into Ensign Estimating, removing the need to rekey figures between systems and reducing the risk of errors carrying through to the estimate. It is developed and supported in-house by Ensign Software, which has provided software to the UK construction industry since 1980.
