Ensign Estimating Reviews & Product Details

Ensign Estimating is a construction estimating software solution built for mechanical, electrical, MEP, ductwork, and insulation contractors in the UK. It enables estimators and contractors to produce detailed, itemised cost estimates covering labour, materials, and subcontract work, helping businesses price jobs accurately and competitively. The software is designed to support the full estimating process, from initial take-off through to tender submission, and serves as a practical alternative to spreadsheet-based estimating methods. The software organises estimates by section, with each line itemising product codes, quantities, labour hours, trade prices, discounts, and material costs. Material prices are maintained within the system and can be updated to reflect current supplier pricing, ensuring estimates are based on accurate, up-to-date figures. Estimates can be built from take-off data imported directly from Ensign Take-Off or constructed manually using the trade-specific product database. Each trade has its own components, assemblies, and labour times built in, covering mechanical, electrical, MEP, ductwork, and insulation workflows. A summary table and bills output are available for tender submission, giving estimators a clear, structured breakdown to present to clients or use internally for cost control purposes. Ensign Estimating is used by UK contractors from SMEs to large Tier 1 businesses, across a range of project types and values. It has been developed and supported in-house by Ensign Software since 1980, with updates shaped by ongoing collaboration with contractors to ensure the software reflects how real jobs are priced. The in-house support team has extensive knowledge of contractor estimating workflows, providing responsive assistance when it is needed.
