I'm really hoping for VersionTwo **Rating:** 1.5/5.0 stars **Reviewed by:** Stephen P. | Engineering Program Manager, Medical Devices, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.) **Reviewed Date:** January 06, 2016 **What do you like best about Digital.ai Agility?** Managing an Agile project, I really like the Storyboard view: it shows me the salient bits of everything in the current sprint as well as Closed and upcoming in the backlog, on a single screen. Some of the capabilities to generate burndown charts are also very well done, assuming you are happy with what the software produces as-is. **What do you dislike about Digital.ai Agility?** So many things. It's simply not intuitive. I'd happily rip it out in favor of Bugzilla. For issue tracking purposes, the very relevant bits to me include description, attachments, and resolution, but those things take some scanning to find on the issue screen and attachments particularly takes several clicks to access hidden away. The fact that neither the software engineers nor the project managers generally like this tool is pretty indicative of weakness. We were supposed to use it for tracking our hours, and that is pretty much all we used it for which was dumb. **Recommendations to others considering Digital.ai Agility:** There are other solutions that are far superior. **What problems is Digital.ai Agility solving and how is that benefiting you?** Project management. It ultimately failed because it could not get enough buy-in from the team. ### 4. Especially those whose employees are already used to using antiquated software. (seriously) **What do you dislike about Digital.ai Agility?** The prevalence of pop-up windows (really guys, 2004 called, and it wants its' pop-ups back, stat) and the user experience which is apparently designed by developers instead of real UX designers. You can tell because it can do everything yet you can find nothing when you need it. **Recommendations to others considering Digital.ai Agility:** Try Jira by Atlassian or Pivotal Tracker first. The UIs are more modern and have a simpler feature set. If you need a specific integration only V1 provides, then maybe it is for you. **What problems is Digital.ai Agility solving and how is that benefiting you?** Typical Agile/Scrum methodology. Planning user stories, sprints, managing product backlog are fine once you get used to the software. ### 5. It has a decent UI and easy to navigate. Moving the stories around using the drag and drop is nice. Adding tasks and tracking hours is great. Burn-down chart on the scrum board helps to track the progress of the scrum team well. Integrates well with github. As new built is triggered from a artifact on github, the build version is updated to the story on VersionOne. **What do you dislike about Digital.ai Agility?** VersionOne could have a better UI for the scrum board. VersionOne for a user need to have its own username/password. I don't know this is how my company had it set up. It would be better if it can use the company SSO and password. **Recommendations to others considering Digital.ai Agility:** Overall a great tool for Scrum agile process. **What problems is Digital.ai Agility solving and how is that benefiting you?** VersionOne is currently used by our IT department to Scrum workflow. We have 3 weeks sprint. The benefits of VersionOne as a developer, its easy to navigate, sends instant emails if any conversations happens, easy to manage the backlog, create templates for stories, burn-down chart has excellent display to view the progress and alerts the developer if the story passes the threshold sitting on the same column more than few days. ### 6. These software tools were made to make your life easier by giving you a structure to work with and doing the scrum basics for you. **What do you dislike about Digital.ai Agility?** Pitfalls of Scrum Software Tools The main problem with V1 is that it is not a specific scrum tool. It tries to fit into a variety of niches, which could cause your teams to have some problem using the tool. If you do plan on using this tool, you will probably need a scrum trainer to teach your team how to adequately use this software. Finally, the templates that V1 uses are of a different type than are generally used in the industry. Besides the obvious glitches listed above, there are additional problems with using software tools. 1. The team spirit can fall by the wayside. Software tools can cause your teams to stop communicating. Since a particular team member is simply inputting his/her own work into the computer system, they may just focus on their own tasks and stop sharing with the rest of the group. 2. Software tools can break down. While it's true that whiteboards can accidentally be erased, whole software systems can break down on a dime. If you need a particular tool and it stops working, you could be ,to quote a cliché, up the creek without a paddle. What if it's the software administrator's day off or he/she is on a cruise to Africa? It could be quite a long time before you can get back to work. A software tool could be a time suck. You could waste nearly half of your sprint trying to fix your tool as opposed to completing your main project. So, you should be careful when deciding to adopt a particular scrum software tool. The old whiteboard and sticky may still be your best bet. **Recommendations to others considering Digital.ai Agility:** Most people who practice scrum use some rather low-tech methods: whiteboards, stickies or notepads. And, there's nothing wrong with these methods. On the market, however, are several software tools meant to make your life easier. Version One is one of the popular tool. Basically, both versions help you streamline the scrum process by allowing you to input your values into templates that are set up for you. Once these values have been inputted, they automatically create charts, including the burn-down chart, for you. These software tools were made to make your life easier by giving you a structure to work with and doing the scrum basics for you. **What problems is Digital.ai Agility solving and how is that benefiting you?** We can keep track of your work with the taskboard function. You can also manage your backlog. Plus, you can create your own electronic whiteboard for your sprints. Basically, it help usstreamline the scrum process by allowing us to input our project values into templates that are set up for our team. Once these values have been inputted, they automatically create charts, including the burn-down chart, for us. These software tools were made to make our life easier by giving us a structure to work with and doing the scrum basics for us. ### 7. A great tool for development managers and product managers alike. **What do you dislike about Digital.ai Agility?** Sometimes response time is slow due. Occasionally requires a page refresh to return to responsiveness. **Recommendations to others considering Digital.ai Agility:** Don't try to implement current processes as they are in VersionOne. Rather, look at how the tool is designed and build your process to its strengths. Compared to TFS for .NET projects, it is at par or better in almost all respects. **What do you dislike about Digital.ai Agility?** Inconsistent customer service was an issue once or twice, but could have just been a bad day. **What problems is Digital.ai Agility solving and how is that benefiting you?** I was working on a software product and phone app for Lutron Electronics that helped end the user control wireless shades at the touch of a button. VersionOne enables me to manage software bugs, project deadlines, and end user feedback on an interconnected and robust framework. ### 9. I will definitely recommend this product to any team working on Agile or moving to Agile/Scrum methodologies from Waterfall. **What problems is Digital.ai Agility solving and how is that benefiting you?** I am involved with ensuring our product quality is up to the mark and that all requirements/features are well defined without ambiguity, there are test cases for each story and related tasks and defects identified in VersionOne for easy tracking and resolution. I have seen improved Feature Velocity through monitoring and improving on each group's productivity. ### 10.
