You can use DIAdem with over one thousand data file formats by utilizing DataPlugins. The automatization through VBA or Python can helps a lot with repeated work. There are plenty of post processing functions available. Visualisation of large data sets in graphs is also relatively fast. With little overhead, it is pretty easy to open a data file, view, process and plot. Compared to the alternatives (Excel, Matlab, Python), I find that Diadem handles large datasets as well as Matlab/Python well and has a clean and easy to use GUI like excel. I aslo find that the macro recording tools minimize the ammount of scripting needed to automate most batch processing. Overall, I find it a very usefull tool that isn't hard to pick up and mininimizes the overhead for novice programmers. **What do you dislike about DIAdem?** I would prefer more examples and help with scripting. Using VBA scripting commands that are not able to be accessed by recording macros is sometimes cumbersome and requires a fair bit of research to use correctly. Additionally, automated processing of of multiple data sets using the same script involves a bit of a learning curve and could be simplified **What problems is DIAdem solving and how is that benefiting you?** I've used Diadem for processing mechanism tests, static load tests, and shock/vibe test data. Diadem works very well for large datasets that would normally cause Excel to not respond. The integrated waterflow plot capability and rainflow analysis make quick work of otherwise challenging problems ### 3. If you should do filtering, weighting , integration and spectrum för one channel you normally want to do this for all channels in all files and the plot some of it out. This is complicated with diadem and involves a lot of programming . There are functions that can choose to process all channels and other that is not. My advice is to look at Sound and Vibration Assistant how it is solved there. **Recommendations to others considering DIAdem:** It's not a program for effective evaluation of large data files **What problems is DIAdem solving and how is that benefiting you?** I do searching for occasions where machine components av pipe systems is damaged and see if we can find the road cause ### 4. Inbuilt plugins and the ability to create new plugins on the run proved to be very helpfull, especially in the early stage of solving a problem. VIEWS section is exceptionally effective when analazining data. Works amazingly fast (comparing to excel) and doesnt require any coding nor commitment (comparing to MatLab). VBS is very simple to learn and introduce other people to it. It also provides pretty much limitless functionalities. In-built analytic functions have good documentation with examples of usage. Writing your own code has a comfortable level of abstraction. Many goals can be achieved by diffrent approaches. You can choose whether to trust analytic functions or write your own implementation. **What do you dislike about DIAdem?** No backward compatibility. Graphic designer for reports lacks any beautifying capabilities like aligning text boxes. Using values from channels in reports is messy. Reports are vulnerable to simple name changes. Generally, maintaining a report is more annoying than it should be. VBS in DIAdem inherits all problems of the old programming language. No reliable way of debugging the code. Very crude and low-level way of handling exceptions. The nature of global channels makes it impossible to write self-contained functions. Objets seem to be just a coding sweetener - it is usually not actually beneficial to create SOLID units of code becouse it is neither faster nor more maintainable. Maybe some of these problems are fixed when you use new python code but it only works in the newest version and I can't accept this limitation right now. **Recommendations to others considering DIAdem:** DIAdem excels when you need to analyze a lot of data or do complex evaluations. Regardless, it is effective and easy to use. I won't recommend DIAdem for simple evaluations only. I also would be hesitant if you know that the type of your data will often change unpredictably **What problems is DIAdem solving and how is that benefiting you?** I use DIAdem to analyze medium size data from measurements: looking for characteristic values, finding peeks, visualizing data, etc. By comparing results from different samples I can make claims about the product and improve the production process. ### 5. Specifically, the View and Report tabs, as well as the Math Tools and scripting environment, are great. **What do you dislike about DIAdem?** The default color schemes of the plots! In the new DIAdem 2019, the default plot line color schemes are not good at all! It isn't easy to understand when you plot many channels with those color schemes. Also, when one loads multiple sets of data, it can get pretty overwhelming. So, maybe find better ways to streamline the user interface when one loads let's say, 20 sets of data. **What problems is DIAdem solving and how is that benefiting you?** I look at engine performance and vehicle performance data using DIAdem. I love the overall user interface and flexibility of plotting the data, applying different filters or do a simple mathematical calculation on the channels. ### 8. I have found DIAdem can be used even without any prior knowledge. All the features and the tools can be easily understandable. There is also description for each tools, which gives the customer a confident environment. By reading the description, it is very easy to understand the usage of each and every tools. Those who wants to learn the software, can learn very quickly by watching the tutorials provided by the developer of DIAdem. I would highly recommend this to any +one who is willing to try an amazing software. **What do you dislike about DIAdem?** I really don't have any points as to say dislike. But definetely i believe that the future updates of DIAdem will bring more features and more varieties to the customers. One suggestion for the developer from my side would be to conduct more seminars or webinars on easy usage of this software. In my point of view, users could learn easily by watching a video tutorials or recorded webinars/seminars. **What problems is DIAdem solving and how is that benefiting you?** I was using DIAdem to thermomapping the sealing device and it gave the chance to map the real values. Without DIAdem it would have not possible to track the real temperature on the device. More than half of my colleague in the research institute found DIAdem as a user friendly and easy to work with. The raw data is converted automatically into physical values. This is done using conversion rules from the database. This is the best thing I liked while using the software. The Graphical interface is flexible and easy to use without any programming skills & provides a universal platform for numerous applications in diverse fields **What do you dislike about DIAdem?** Little slow while handling more number of channels. I already tried using queues to transfer data, but control over memory-allocation / deallocation can't easily be done... perhaps a switch in the connector pane of subVIs saying "transfer data by pointers" could be helpful. - Data structures: I am using some C++-DLLs for data analysis. As there are sometimes some structs in the function-arguments-list, I had to write a wrapper-DLL. Perhaps there's a possibility to get this compatible... it would be nice if an array of a cluster could be converted to an array of a struct. - Speed: In some applications, I already realized that the speed of LabView can be improved by rewriting LabView-Sub-Vis into C++code. I think this is due to the LV-runtime-engine which has to "convert" the binary code of labview into native code??? Would be great if it would be possible to generate native code directly. - Expandability: It's hard to implement new functions into a already written LV-Program. By using design patterns like producer-consumer, the expandability is improved in comparison to a "normal" LV-program, but in comparison to a text-based language, LV still stands back. **Recommendations to others considering DIAdem:** Its a very nice software, handy and less memory space needed while operating this software. So, it will be helpful for new users to learn and implement faster. Very easy to learn and work. Faster to export the data from the analyzed software. So, I recommend for new users. DIAdem can be used in all phases of the development and production of vehicles, where measurement data must be analyzed, compared and presented together with the results in meaningful reports. **What problems is DIAdem solving and how is that benefiting you?** Order tracking and multi axis chart preparation is easier ### 12. Fast and efficient graphing. Diadem has the ability to save imported data and graphs to pull up at a later date for importing projects quickly. With the support plan, most issues can be addressed in a timely manner. **What do you dislike about DIAdem?** Report function isn't as usable as the view port. You can't copy sheet or legend templates in the view tab, so every time you add a sheet or graph you need to reconfigure the legend settings etc. You can't easily write a formula to analyze data like in excel to average or convert readings. Diadem doesn't always work well with importing data from vendors other than NI, sometimes support is needed to create a custom plugin in. **Recommendations to others considering DIAdem:** If you are analyzing large sets of scientific data, DIAdem is the best option around. I highly suggest using DIAdem. I have tried other products, however, they tend to be tailored to "big data" rather than scientific data sets. Going from standard Excel plots to DIAdem is a game changer. **What problems is DIAdem solving and how is that benefiting you?** Excel takes a long time to graph large data sets and you can't easily probe the data at specific points in time. Diadem makings analyzing data easy and graphing large data sets easy and fast. I love how multiple data graphics can be manipulated on this tool, it allows for great discoveries on my data. **What do you dislike about DIAdem?** Overall I find that you can’t completely replace excel for DIAdem because doing certain “basic” task on DIAdem is not as intuitive as it is on excel. I understand these are different software I wish DIAdem could offer some easier ways to do basic data operations so I could do all my work on DIAdem alone. This may even be a little bit too much to ask, but is the only thing I can think of that I dislike. **Recommendations to others considering DIAdem:** If you need to analyze big sized data with flexibility and easy of use, this tool is for you! **What problems is DIAdem solving and how is that benefiting you?** Overall I used DIAdem to discover certain trends on the data I collected. For instance I was comparing the performance of different products that were manufactured in different ways and/or with different quantities of raw materials. With DIAdem I was able to analyze the performance of the products under different conditions and creat scrips to share with my team the results that could be later analyzed by the design team and they could make decisions on which products need to be improved and which products are behaving as expected. DIAdem allowed me to go beyond only acquiring and logging data, I could do more. I could now understand my data and find new interesting facts about it that helped me better define the next steps on my project. Without DIAdem such discoveries would not be possible as Excel had limited capabilities with big sized data. I would say DIAdem is totally Engineered oriented while Excel has critical limitations. ### 16. We can easily capture external sensors data using this DAQ Modules. Visualization module has various easy controls and indicators and graphs. TDMS File format is one of the interesting thing. If our data has more than 32000 data, we cant plot the graph in Excel. but in DIAdem, we can plot this and we can easily cut the required data and move this report. **What do you dislike about DIAdem?** DAQ Module is little bit difficult to program and to automate the testing machines. Project management is little bit difficult. We cant create the project hierarchy like in LabVIEW. In LabVIEW, we can show all the files which related to single project in one area. But in DIAdem, we need to maintain the folder hierarchy. **Recommendations to others considering DIAdem:** If anyone looking to handle more data, I recommend DIAdem is a best and easy tool to do all activities. It helps to get the Final report within two minutes. Test duration is 1000 Hrs. After 1000 Hrs, it is difficult to get the required points from data. So we used scripting and picked the required data. When I used, I have imported various data formats and from different file formats. The software allows for great presentation of data in a high-quality report format. It is great for companies pursuing R&D activities with heavy testing that require a lot of script tests to be done and performed. **What do you dislike about DIAdem?** It only needs the inclusion of import and manipulation of Microsoft Office's Excel data and a better direct quick access to all its metadata. Excel has become a powerful tool with time, so it needs to be in some aspect interact with it much more easily. **What problems is DIAdem solving and how is that benefiting you?** MATLAB is a very good software for processing data and because of its libraries it makes for a good software and programming tool for multiple disciplines, but for all its features, its presentation is lacking. Also, it is heavy to run and debug when dealing with large data sets and long scripts. In that aspect DIAdem offers a good solution! ### 23. Some of the built-in functions are not fast enough / too high level for the macros to be efficiently used. **What problems is DIAdem solving and how is that benefiting you?** Useful in converting and manipulating large amounts of measurement data. When looking for correlations between measurement channels this provided a neat and visual way to quickly identify any new trends spot errors and irregularities, and provide quick automated reports from these regardless of the length of the measurements. The report generation side is very easy and intuitive to use, and prints can be scaled to larger sheets as it uses vectorgraphic elements to build from. ### 24. The data can be obtained in either steady state or transient state. The system uses an integrated approach for data browsing, calculation and report generation, and is based on the predefined formula catalog from FEV’s extensive analysis database. ### 25. It runs so much smoother and gives a clear idea of the test analysis as it gives freedom to the test engineer to plot the data based on the requirements and compare to excel and PCAN software, It works so well. As we can select a huge number of parameters at a time and along with the real-time analysis of a product. **What do you dislike about DIAdem?** According to me, there is no dislike as such over the software but in recommending it to my colleagues/friends I would suggest that there are very few companies who actually use this software in India and it would be a tough time to find a job having the experience in NI DIAdem software in India. I am saying this based on my experience. Till this time I am facing to secure a job over this expertise in India. And also presenting the data for the reports. What i like best was the UX, it was easy to use for a beginner in the data analyst, also it was well integrated with all kind of devices so that we would never worry about data sharing between devices. Also it was good to visualize the datas. Diadem works with NI datafinder to index your data enabling powerful data mining tools. NI datafindrt works with several file formats, such as excel, csv, tdm, lvm, etc. If it lacks native support for your data file wr can try to download the plugin from NI DIAdem. **What do you dislike about DIAdem?** I think the downside was the software is pretty much old in terms of UI. It needs to be redesigned for viewing some large amounts of data. I see the software is a bit left behind the other software in terms of big data analysis. Also what im not sure about is wether diadem is able to monitor the data logs and analyze it at the same time in a real time because i wasn't able to try it yet. **Recommendations to others considering DIAdem:** In my opinion, diadem is a powerful tool for mining, inspecting and reporting data sets. Further, productivity and consistency can be enhanced using scripts. You can also ask the experts about using the software since a lot of users have using this. **What problems is DIAdem solving and how is that benefiting you?** Data analytics in voltage and current readings. It was easy to analyze the graph, using set point, and editing the datas. It is easy to plot data in the software, setting the plot as you want how it is going to be. Diadem has various worksheet layout in the function groupa. Assigned worksheet partitions with various display types, regular and irregular worksheet partitions. Diadem viewing pane is easy to inspect and visualize data. Once you have your data loaded into the data portal using the navigation pane, you can plot it however you want by dragging and dropping into plots you have configured in the viewing pane. It was such an amazing software to begin with. ### 27. DIAdem allowed me to import, analyse, extract, graph and view data very easily while also providing the option to do a comparison study with data recorded elsewhere. The software is very intuitive, very well laid out and most of all compiles all my needs. **What do you dislike about DIAdem?** Working on DIAdem can be frustrating especially when you are beginner learning the ins and outs of how it works. The management of the work space is a key component on the software but is not very user friendly in terms of its customization. It takes practice and sometimes, making mistakes to understand how exactly this feature works which means you need to dedicate time and effort before you start using it for its primary purpose. **What problems is DIAdem solving and how is that benefiting you?** Using the software I was able to map how eccentric movement of a driveshaft in a pump while rigged in a testing situation compares to mounting in an engine in an actual car. Doing so allowed us to see if we are correctly simulating the situation our product faces in the real world. The clear cut benefit I found was the ability to put both the data in these two different situations side by side and see analyse for any discrepancy and present my findings. ### 30. It's also very nice to be able to view many different data formats easily. The online training is very good for this software and is a true need. The power of the program to visual large amounts of data in a single file is excellent. **What do you dislike about DIAdem?** Viewing large amounts of data across multiple files is not as easily done in DIAdem as with its competitors. I find the software to be a little difficult to use and not as cleanly set up as other competitors. The power of the analytical tools is not as high as others. **Recommendations to others considering DIAdem:** This is a very powerful data tool. It is best utilized in conjunction with LabView. My main concern has to do with visualizing data across a number of different files. In a single file DIAdem is more than adequate. Its real power shows when you can utilize it with a Visual Basic programmer.
