DeepL Translate Reviews & Product Details

What I like most about DeepL is how practical it is for my day-to-day work. I use it often when handling work-related emails, documents, and other content in different languages. What really stands out is that the translations keep the original meaning and context and read naturally, instead of coming across as literal, word-for-word conversions. This is especially helpful when I’m drafting professional communication or trying to understand messages from international teams. It’s fast, reliable for everyday tasks, and takes very little effort to use. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

One area that could be improved is how technical and industry-specific terminology is handled. While DeepL generally performs well for everyday business communication, some phrases can lose their intended meaning when translating technical documents or more detailed, work-related content. Because of that, I usually double-check those translations before using them in professional communication. More consistent results in these situations would make the tool feel even more reliable. The translation quality is leagues ahead of Google Translate—it actually sounds like a real person wrote it instead of a machine, especially when it comes to tone, nuance, and idioms. Plus, the desktop app shortcut lets you highlight text anywhere on your screen and translate it instantly without constantly opening a browser tab. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

The free tier character limit can feel pretty restrictive if you're working on long documents, and the language library is definitely smaller compared to giants like Google Translate. Plus, the desktop app occasionally lags or freezes up when dealing with massive blocks of text. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What I like most is the integrated AI, because it makes the translations sound natural, as if done by a real translator. In my case, this has a great advantage: in my work, we review many dubbings in different languages, and thanks to DeepL, we can be more confident when we have doubts about whether a phrase in a dubbing is well translated or not. Honestly, it hasn't caused me any displeasure so far, so I don't find any disadvantage. The tool I've used the most is the automatic translation, and it hasn't caused me any problems. Just as a comment, I've experienced in the iOS app that sometimes when trying to translate text from an image, the app crashes, but after that, I haven't had any issues. DeepL is a solid platform for translating texts and files of all kinds. We have incorporated it into our regular automatic translation processes, followed by human review when necessary. It has been useful to integrate it through the API function with our translation systems. The value for money is very good, although with the advent of LLMs, the quality level obtainable with one and the other should be carefully considered. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

I don't find any negative aspects. At most, compatibility with more file formats could be extended to allow translation of less common ones. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

I use DeepL Translate for work and everyday life. I like that it gives me different text options and sentence variations, so I can choose the right meaning. When I can’t find the right word, I use it to get translation variations for work or everyday tasks. I also like that it’s integrated into my browser, so I can quickly translate text on web pages or elsewhere in my browser. It’s quick and easy to use, and I found it very easy to use. I think maybe DeepL Translate could recognize text in pictures, turn it into plain text, and translate it. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

I like the simplicity of DeepL Translate. It's free, works very well, and was simple and practical to set up. I use it to search for English documentation and learn English. When I encounter a new word or a complex context, it understands the meaning instead of translating everything literally and gives me the answer I need, along with similar suggestions and alternatives. This helps me learn even more. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

I can't say anything that doesn't work well; for me, DeepL Translate works super well. Perhaps it could provide a list of complete phrases with usage examples when I search for a word or text. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

I use DeepL Translate to help me with medical interpretation and I really like that it translates meaning by meaning instead of only translating word by word. It's very helpful to know the meaning of complete ideas, especially in the medical field. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

The only thing I can complain about DeepL Translate is that I cannot use it to translate the text on an image. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

I found DeepL Translate helpful for learning German because its translations were accurate compared with Google Translate, which helped me learn faster. I like that the translations sound natural, with the proper tone and phrasing. When I used it to translate my words while chatting with my German colleague, he was amazed at how much my German had improved. The initial setup was pretty easy, too. I find the free version limits restrictive. Lengthy texts and document translations require a paid plan, and I can’t afford one, so I’m unable to use DeepL Translate to its fullest. I also wish document translations would preserve formatting. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

I like that DeepL Translate understands the context of translations, improving the accuracy of translations from English to Italian. I also appreciate the flexibility it offers, allowing you to select words and get various translation options. I find it very intuitive, especially because it doesn't require a complex initial setup: just open the page and start using it. Additionally, the feature that allows you to select words from a translation to get synonyms or other sentence constructions is extremely useful for me. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

I noticed that when I open a page to enter the translation, a defect often occurs: I don't know why, but it reloads the page already pasted with the sentence to be translated, so I have to paste the sentence again. This is a bit annoying because it wastes time and would be an aspect of the software to improve. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What I like most about DeepL Translate is its accuracy and natural-sounding translations. It does a great job of preserving the meaning, tone, and context of the original text, especially compared with more literal translation tools. The value is very good compared with the cost because it saves me a significant amount of time and makes my translation workflow more efficient. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

DeepL Translate can sometimes struggle with highly specialized terminology, industry-specific language, or sentences where the meaning depends heavily on context. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
