## DbVisualizer Reviews
  ### 1. Solid interface for sql and database management

**Rating:** 2.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Software | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 10, 2018

**What do you like best about DbVisualizer?**

The interface for directly editing content of rows to avoid needing to write lengthy SQL is nice. As is the ability to use menus to modify tables.

**What do you dislike about DbVisualizer?**

Somehow it got worse after updating. Some abilities were lost and things were moved around in ways that made them hard to find. I haven't updated since for fear of losing more...

**What problems is DbVisualizer solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Managing several databases with queries and updates. Its made doing that easier and reduced the amount of code I've had to actually write/save and maintain.

**Official Response from Roger Bjärevall:**

> Thanks for your review. You say: "Some abilities were lost and things were moved around".
Can you please clarify which version you are now using and the one you upgraded from? Would also be great if you can list what features has been removed and those that has moved in the tool. We don't remove functionality and very carefully change the user interface. Perhaps you have been using the licensed and unlicensed versions of DbVisualizer which may explain the differences.

**What do you like best about DbVisualizer?**

The management of your sql queries is awesome. This program is so much easier than Visual Studios. You can load all your sql's from a folder and have them to copy and paste into new queries.

**What do you dislike about DbVisualizer?**

No export to Excel button. We always export to Excel and this version does not have a button for it. I hear through the grape vine that it is coming though.

**Recommendations to others considering DbVisualizer:**

Give it a try, you will not be disappointed.

**What problems is DbVisualizer solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Having to write code faster and make changes on the fly. DbVisualizer seems to be made for it.

**What do you like best about DbVisualizer?**

It is a open source that is very reliable quick and fast

In the free edition CLOB object cannot be viewed directly and you cant export data from a table in sql format

**Recommendations to others considering DbVisualizer:**

It is a free open source that any developer can install in their local machine and it also shows indexes and foreign key relations between tables

**What problems is DbVisualizer solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Its mostly used for validating DB and firing queries to analyse tables

  ### 7. Average SQL software

**Rating:** 2.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jack C. | Manager of Business Intelligence, Internet, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 19, 2017

**What do you like best about DbVisualizer?**

We use this software because it is cheap and good enough I suppose.

**What do you dislike about DbVisualizer?**

The worst thing is they took away the error checking feature where it highlights the line and location of the SQL error. It was available in 9.5

**What problems is DbVisualizer solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Run our SQL queries

**Official Response from Roger Bjärevall:**

> Can you please elaborate on the error highlighting claim? We’ve not removed anything in that area.

  ### 8. A swiss army knife DB tool

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Darrel H. | Manager of Business Intelligence, Computer Hardware, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 18, 2016

**What do you like best about DbVisualizer?**

DB Visualizer has easy setup and while there's a learning curve, I've found it friendlier than some other tools that have limited capability to a single db type. The fact that it can access so many types in one interface with a common toolset/interface is very handy; the upfront learning curve is negated a bit by not having to learn several other apps.

**What do you dislike about DbVisualizer?**

A very seldom crash here and there. I can leave it up for days and sometimes weeks, revisiting every day or so for my needs, and it's steadfast. Some things seem slower than native tools, like pulling up a list of Views, but the rest seems as snappy. Depends on the connection to the database, of course.

**Recommendations to others considering DbVisualizer:**

Trial it, you'll be hooked like I was. Their support is quick to respond, and the product is updated frequently, at least many times per year.

**What problems is DbVisualizer solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Saves time by learning one app instead of several. Gives an easy common interface for all your db needs, saving time.

  ### 9. Software and database systems analyst

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Gil P. | Senior Saba Specialist, Management Consulting, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 25, 2016

**What do you like best about DbVisualizer?**

DbVisualizer has a free version that is very full-featured. Capabilities are nearly identical with Oracle SQL Developer. The only feature I found that Developer has the DbVisualizer free doesn't is the ability to highlight a section of SQL code to execute on its own. DbVisualizer allows the programmer to set the number of rows to return. This allows one to run the full query by putting a number higher than the expected full return. The query can be reviewed on screen, then exported to CSV if desired. Developer does this differently, as it has a default 100 row limit. More rows are automatically added as one pages down in the results. An export in Developer runs the full query in the background.

**What do you dislike about DbVisualizer?**

There is really nothing I dislike. It would be nice if the free version had the highlight a code section to execute, especially since Oracle's SQL Developer has it and is also free, but other than that, no complaints.

**Recommendations to others considering DbVisualizer:**

Full-featured, easy to set up. Easy to use. Nothing to lose.

**What problems is DbVisualizer solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I have used DbVisualizer to produce database reports and generate nightly extracts. It does everything I need. I have not used it to write PL/SQL code, and so don't have any feedback on ease of use in this area.

**Official Response from Roger Bjärevall:**

> Hi Gil, Thanks for the great review. I just want say that both execution of highlighted (current selection), and execute statement at caret position are supported in DbVisualizer Free (since 9.2.x).

  ### 10. DB Visualizer does data

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Sheldon B. | Business Systems Analyst, Information Technology and Services, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 22, 2016

**What do you like best about DbVisualizer?**

I like the fact that I can query mainframe tables with ease.. I don't use this product for in depth data analysis, but I can see from the tool kit that this product will do everything I need in my role.

**What do you dislike about DbVisualizer?**

Nothing to dislike..it dies what it was designed to do and is just as intuitive as Toad.

**Recommendations to others considering DbVisualizer:**

Get a trial version and check it out. . Depending on your needs you will always need to validate your requirements prior to purchase..

**What problems is DbVisualizer solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I'm using this tool to analyze source data coming from the mainframe. .I gather customer details that are not populated automatically by current data feed.

  ### 11. Data Analytics

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Insurance | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 24, 2016

**What do you like best about DbVisualizer?**

Easy of use, you can see the schema's for your data marts and if you're not as proficient in SQL, you can build the SQL and learn from it using the query builder.

**What do you dislike about DbVisualizer?**

I dislike how you can't convert back and forth between SQL editor and the query builder. Similar to how access is.

**Recommendations to others considering DbVisualizer:**

Great to extract data to build reports before the report goes into production.

**What problems is DbVisualizer solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Using this tool to mainly extract data then exporting to other platforms to manipulate the data. Benefit is the ease of use of the tool to query without going into Cognos to build a report to get the data.

  ### 12. Great Product! Love the feature suite.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Tyler T. | Senior Software Engineer, Retail, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 18, 2016

**What do you like best about DbVisualizer?**

Quick response time on a large data schema.

**What do you dislike about DbVisualizer?**

Non-pro edition does not allow for multiple tabs.

**What problems is DbVisualizer solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Allows me to query tables and lookup tables in a much quicker fashion.

  ### 13. A great database tool

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Internet | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 23, 2015

**What do you like best about DbVisualizer?**

I use the free version of this tool and it's great. The price point is right, and I'm able to do almost everything I need. It is easy to set up connections, and run queries. All in all it is very straightforward and had all the functionality I would expect from a database tool. Unlike some other tools, the interface is straightforward and easy to understand.

**What do you dislike about DbVisualizer?**

The free version is lacking some capabilities (to be expected), but not so many that I feel the need to upgrade.

**Recommendations to others considering DbVisualizer:**

There is a free version so you can test it out to make sure you like it. The free version might even be enough depending on how complex your needs are.

**What problems is DbVisualizer solving and how is that benefiting you?**

This tool lets me access the database and run queries to gain business insights and make better, data-driven decisions.

  ### 14. Free easy tool. (used free version)

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Government Administration | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 03, 2016

**What do you like best about DbVisualizer?**

Easy installation. Free of cost. Good for small project.

**What do you dislike about DbVisualizer?**

As far as my experience I did not find anything to dislike about.

**What problems is DbVisualizer solving and how is that benefiting you?**

if anyone need quick access to DB. This is it. It helped to quickly install for free and access DB as it was needed.

  ### 15. Great tool for accessing tables and writing queries

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Information Technology and Services | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 14, 2016

**What do you like best about DbVisualizer?**

Great tool for accessing tables and writing queries. Best features are - wizard to create database connection, copy header name with data, run multiple queries and there are many.

**What do you dislike about DbVisualizer?**

You can't run multiple queries in free version. for large data set this sometime give heap space issue.

**What problems is DbVisualizer solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We are using it in our insurance company project development which calculates commission for agents.

**Official Response from Roger Bjärevall:**

> Most recent DbVisualizer versions supports running a script of multiple SQL statements also in the Free edition.

  ### 16. Database Tool!

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Retail | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 29, 2015

**What do you like best about DbVisualizer?**

This is again one of great tools to use for database developers and admins. It has all database tool required features.
It can give schema, ER diagrams. Export and import functionalities work great. Connections can be stored, SSH connections also possible. We can profile the connections with different fonts, colors etc. It also has query builders, execution history features to retrieve previously executed SQLs. It runs on all operating systems so thats an advantage to use the same software even when machine is changed.

**What do you dislike about DbVisualizer?**

It does all the minimum required works. The free version does not support many cool features like executing multiple sql statements etc. as its licensed version does. But that's why its free :)

**Recommendations to others considering DbVisualizer:**

If you are looking for a database tool then this one has almost all the required functionalities for a database developer like any other client software. So try it and use it!

**What problems is DbVisualizer solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I used this to connect to oracle databases and implementing PL SQL objects, for query executions.

**Official Response from Roger Bjärevall:**

> Hi, Thanks for the review. I just want to update that multi-statement script execution is also supported in DbVisualizer Free.

  ### 17. DBVisualizer at its best

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Sarma K. | Master software engineer /Manager, Financial Services, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 10, 2015

**What do you like best about DbVisualizer?**

This tool is very good and performance is pretty good,i use this tool day to day for writing the quires, stored procedures etc. Look and feel is pretty good

**What do you dislike about DbVisualizer?**

This works perfectly fine for DB2 but for other databases, its little hard. Finding the DB drivers and installing the is difficult

**What problems is DbVisualizer solving and how is that benefiting you?**

i use this to interact with Database

  ### 18. All in one Database Management Tool

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Peter B. | Director, Enterprise Solution Architect, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 22, 2013

**What do you like best about DbVisualizer?**

I used this a few years ago and it really helped me when trying to manage and write queries across multiple database platforms. From that perspective, this is a good tool.

**What do you dislike about DbVisualizer?**

It's missing some basic functionality that I wish it had like adding users and creating databases. If those features were added, this would be a 10.

**Recommendations to others considering DbVisualizer:**

If you support multiple database platforms, this tool is worth a try. It doesn't do all of the basic things that I would like (see dislikes), but it is very helpful for querying across multiple platforms.

  ### 19. Excellent all-purpose tool

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Capital Markets | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 19, 2012

**What do you like best about DbVisualizer?**

For database querying/manipulation across different database types, I only really need this one app. It's fast enough, and easy to use. I don't need to install/learn proprietary db management tools for 90% of the cases. It's also cross-platform so I can use it on different machines and get the same interface.

**What do you dislike about DbVisualizer?**

It doesn't support situations such as needing to create database, manage users, etc. This is fine though, since those cases are rare. Viewing data and running queries is a lot more common.

**Recommendations to others considering DbVisualizer:**

Good tool if you work with data on different database systems
