**Reviewed Date:** May 04, 2023

**What do you like best about DbVisualizer?**

Nice user interface, lightweight, inline edits allowed, being able to import and export my connections, great technical support (they reply back following up on any issue within the same day and they even contact you when your issue was fixed in the release update).

Scripts bookmark feature I would improve; rather than having a separate bookmark folder in my disk, I would like to be able to right-click on a tab and have an 'add to bookmark' option (and keep the file in its original location).

**What problems is DbVisualizer solving and how is that benefiting you?**

DbVisualizer is solving the need to securely connect to our databases and manage different connections providing a friendly user interface. Also allows us to export all the information we need in several formats.

It sounds like a good idea! We are planning to refresh the Scripts panel, and your input will be valuable. Could you submit your suggestion to the product team using Help -> Contact Support? Your contribution is much appreciated!

  ### 4. Great database visualization solution

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Joel W. | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 16, 2023

**What do you like best about DbVisualizer?**

I am not a database administrator and know very little MySQL, but I frequently need to view data or pull reports from this database. DBVisualizer is amazingly helpful and easy to navigate. The visualization of the table relationships has been a lifesaver. I use it almost daily to track down information I don't already have in views the DBA made for me.

**What do you dislike about DbVisualizer?**

I have not encountered any issues or problems.

**What problems is DbVisualizer solving and how is that benefiting you?**

My DBA created views for getting the data I usually need, but DBVisualizer Pro has been beneficial for me, who doesn't know MySQL, to track down data I need otherwise.

  ### 5. Never had an issue, the connections are always easy to set up

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Manon W. | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 10, 2023

**What do you like best about DbVisualizer?**

It automatically downloads the correct driver

**What do you dislike about DbVisualizer?**

Some tabs take a long time to open and I do not like the SQL formatter

**What problems is DbVisualizer solving and how is that benefiting you?**

To be able to connect to multiple databases

**Official Response from Meryem O:**

> Hi Manon,

Thanks for the feedback! We’re always looking for ways to enhance our software. I’ll forward your feedback to our development team.

  ### 6. Good tool for working in databases.

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Philipp S. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 16, 2023

**What do you like best about DbVisualizer?**

DBVisualizer has a good and clear interface. Input validation is also quite helpful. DBVisualizer also has good options for visually delimiting the databases (e.g. Live/stage/test/dev). This can be packed with tab colors and/or in folders.

**What do you dislike about DbVisualizer?**

In the older versions, DBVisualizer sometimes had to deal with crashes, which then occurred when the databases were too large. This hasn't happened lately. There was probably a positive adjustment here.

**What problems is DbVisualizer solving and how is that benefiting you?**

DBVisualizer helps to connect several databases (of different types and providers) and you also have an overview of all databases in one program. And that also increases productivity in many projects.

  ### 7. I used DbVisualizer for personal development

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Eugene S. | Senior Software Engineer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 13, 2023

**What do you like best about DbVisualizer?**

Navigator, SQL editor, possibility to add objects to Favorites

**What do you dislike about DbVisualizer?**

1. When a table is opened from Favorites, it replaces current tab
2. It is impossible to set Max Rows for individual DB connection

**What problems is DbVisualizer solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It makes easy to search for data, to discover relations, to build complicated queries and many others.

**Official Response from Meryem O:**

> Hi Eugene,

Thank you so much for your review!

In regards to the areas you think can be improved, I’d like to share some info that might help.

1-It depends on how it is opened. If you right-click on the actual Favorites item, you can choose to open the object in a new tab, in an existing tab, or in a floating tab. To control what happens when you double-click a Favorites item (with or without a modifier), open Tools->Tool Properties->Favorites and adjust the corresponding setting.

2-Max rows are handled differently depending on the context where it is used.
-In table data tabs, the latest used setting is chosen by default. To avoid loading too much data unintentionally, the number of rows displayed when the data tab is opened can be controlled separately using Tools->Tool Properties->Table Data->Max Rows at First Display.

- In SQL Commander result sets, the max rows settings are persisted per script. So when different scripts are opened again, the max row settings used previously with each specific script will be used. For new SQL Commander tabs, the latest used values will be chosen by default.

  ### 8. Easy to use but powerful application

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Information Technology and Services | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 03, 2023

**What do you like best about DbVisualizer?**

Application is very useful for reviewing database and do quick development.

**What do you dislike about DbVisualizer?**

Could use some more features for performance and tuning, but every release seems to get it closer to perfect!

**What problems is DbVisualizer solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Very useful tool for evaluating data and creating fast scripts for fixing data.

  ### 9. Makes my workday easier

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Information Technology and Services | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 05, 2023

**What do you like best about DbVisualizer?**

Good SSH tunneling features and the many different possibilities for exporting data, for example directly to an Excel file, JSON file or a JIRA table make daily tasks a lot simpler.

**What do you dislike about DbVisualizer?**

The underlying Java platform has its own windowing quirks when using on a Wayland desktop in Linux, but that isn't specifically a problem with DbVisualizer.

**What problems is DbVisualizer solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Creating reports, generating data exports for system migrations and investigating weird data problems is much easier with DbVisualizer than with command line tools.

**Official Response from Sandra B:**

> Thank you for your review!

  ### 10. Good SQL client for postgres

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Banking | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 06, 2023

**What do you like best about DbVisualizer?**

Easy to use UI. Has all the features required for SQL development.

**What do you dislike about DbVisualizer?**

The preferences doesn't have a search, so it is not always easy to drill down to the settings I am looking for.

**What problems is DbVisualizer solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I need to run queries and develop PL/SQL code.

**Official Response from Meryem O:**

> Hi there,

Thank you for your feedback!

That's very true; luckily, it's already on our to-do list. Thanks for bringing it up. It will help to prioritize this!

However, if you want to be notified when this feature becomes available, please submit a feature request using Contact Support.

  ### 11. DBVis makes it easy to manage and work with all my data sources

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Justin Z. | Vice President of Business Intelligence, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 13, 2022

**What do you like best about DbVisualizer?**

The software allows me to save connections to the databases I need to access on a regular basis. I am able to color code the connections by development or production environments so I can know at a glance how careful I need to be. The tool allows me to auto format my code which is great for standardization across the team.

**What do you dislike about DbVisualizer?**

I would like to see more export capabilities. I would like to be able to export to multiple excel worksheets in a single workbook and have more control over formatting of the export.

**What problems is DbVisualizer solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The most obvious problem solved is the ability to query a database. With DBvis I am able to get answers to questions which are hidden in the data. I mostly use it to build report and dashboard tables from transactional data.

**Official Response from Sandra B:**

> Hi Justin,

I ran your export feedback by our devs and this is what they came back with:

The client-side command @export supports the type of export you are looking for. Try run this in the SQL Commander in DbVisualizer:

@export on;
@export set filename="/tmp/output.xlsx" format="Excel" appendfile="clear";
SELECT * FROM ACTOR;
SELECT * FROM ADDRESS;
SELECT * FROM CATEGORY;
@export off;

It will output a single workbook with three sheets named by the respective table name in this example. There are more options (such as naming sheets, etc) for @export here: https://confluence.dbvis.com/display/UG/@export+-+Export+query+result

I hope this helps!

  ### 12. DBVisualizer - great tool for data architects

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Nilesh K. | Data Architect, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 04, 2023

**What do you like best about DbVisualizer?**

Very easy to use and comes with several handy capabilities that are important in day-to-day life like
1. Saving all queries (even if forgot to save then automatically saved)
2. Excellent data download capabilities
3. Good support from the support team

**What do you dislike about DbVisualizer?**

Sometime during extract (using the extract function) the records get dropped.

**What problems is DbVisualizer solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Very simple UI and views to access data for a complex database like hive(hadoop)

**Official Response from Meryem O:**

> Hi Nilesh,

Thanks for the feedback!

Regarding the records getting dropped, we would love to understand what that means and assist you in getting it resolved. Could you kindly submit a support ticket to our support team so they can connect with you directly to better understand the issue?

Your feedback is much appreciated!

  ### 13. Best SQL tool

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Banking | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 06, 2023

**What do you like best about DbVisualizer?**

User friendly. Love the tabs and save function

**What do you dislike about DbVisualizer?**

Pricing. Menus should be simplified a bit more

**What problems is DbVisualizer solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Need to work with multiple query frequently and the tabs and save function helped a lot

**Official Response from Meryem O:**

> Hi there,

Thanks for the suggestion! We’re always looking for ways to enhance our software. I’ll forward your feedback to our development team.

  ### 14. A standard tool for our software company

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Robert H. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 16, 2023

**What do you like best about DbVisualizer?**

The functionality of this software and the easiness to connect to the source systems that we are working on. Very easy to use for my developers. With respect to other companies that we have vetted out, this has become a standard tool for our company.

**What do you dislike about DbVisualizer?**

With a start-up company, there is no tiered enterprise license available. You need to have 100 users before you can get an enterprise license. So in the early stages, licenses do become pricey, before the discount applies.

**What problems is DbVisualizer solving and how is that benefiting you?**

DB Visualizer helps us connect to the complex databases of our clients in the healthcare market.

**Official Response from Meryem O:**

> Hi Robert,

We greatly appreciate your review. In fact, we provide volume discounts beginning from 4 licenses and beyond. Moreover, we extend a 50% discount to start-ups within their initial five years of operation, for up to 10 users.

For additional information regarding our discounts, kindly refer to this link: https://www.dbvis.com/pricing/. Should you require any assistance or seek further details about our pricing, please do not hesitate to contact us at sales@dbvis.com.

Thank you once again.

  ### 15. Very robust software

**Reviewed Date:** July 06, 2023

**What do you like best about DbVisualizer?**

Simple to use, very reliable and allows easy to setup configurations

**What do you dislike about DbVisualizer?**

I have not had any problems when using DBVisualizer

**What problems is DbVisualizer solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Allowed easy setup and autosaves my reusable queries

  ### 16. perfect SQL management

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** René H. | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 07, 2023

**What do you like best about DbVisualizer?**

Very good tool for all SQL tasks across multiple databases and server systems.

**What do you dislike about DbVisualizer?**

Currently nothing, everything is great! I like everything.

**What problems is DbVisualizer solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Central tool for all database tasks

  ### 17. great tool, been using for 6+ years

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Elizabeth J. | Business Analyst, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 23, 2022

**What do you like best about DbVisualizer?**

I use DBVisualizer frequently - practically daily - over several SQL Server databases. As a business analyst, I use it for doing production support, testing software modifications, etc. DB Visualizer is easy to use, does everything I ask of it. Connections are easy to set up and I really like being able to set the color for different connections - to provide a visual cue as to which environment I am working in (production vs test). DB Visualizer has lots of features that I haven't used but would like to explore. I like that DBVis is continually making improvements to the software.

**What do you dislike about DbVisualizer?**

There isn't really anything I don't like.

**What problems is DbVisualizer solving and how is that benefiting you?**

One example: when presented with a production issue, I can use DbVisualizer to query data to locate the issue as well as identify other instances of the issue.

**Official Response from Sandra B:**

> Thank you Elizabeth, for your review. We're glad to hear that you like our software!

  ### 18. Good solid product

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Brandon S. | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 02, 2023

**What do you like best about DbVisualizer?**

The product is very easy to use and has a solid user interface.

**What do you dislike about DbVisualizer?**

It's not exactly like SQL management studio which is what I am familiar with.

**What problems is DbVisualizer solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Accessing data that doesn't already have specific data visualizations made.

  ### 19. Very well designed GUI and color scheme. Featues I'd expect are where I expected them to be.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Ian B. | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 02, 2023

**What do you like best about DbVisualizer?**

Very well designed GUI and color scheme. Featues I'd expect are where I expected them to be.

**What do you dislike about DbVisualizer?**

Dak color scheme is rough. I'd like the Dark Theme option.

**What problems is DbVisualizer solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Viewing large amounts of data quickly and clean.

  ### 20. Great tool for querying any db

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Omar V. | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 16, 2023

**What do you like best about DbVisualizer?**

SQL Commander is the best thing you can query any db right there, select, run all, as far as I can tell is way better that some other tools in the same space

**What do you dislike about DbVisualizer?**

I feel a bit slow and heavy while running, not the query execution but the interface, and

**What problems is DbVisualizer solving and how is that benefiting you?**

connecting different sources like sql server, mysql, postgres from the same tool, it's a breeze instead of doing some from cmd line, some from workbench and so on.

  ### 21. The Swiss Army Knife of SQL Tools

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Michael L. | Director of Managed Services, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 22, 2022

**What do you like best about DbVisualizer?**

We work with at least 7 different database vendors: Postgres, Oracle, SQL Server, MySQL, MariaDB, Ingres, and DB2. DbVisualizer works with them all. And it works well. Most often DbVis is better than vendor-specific management tools. The feature set was determined by actual DBAs and developers. The Export tools are so flexible and easy to use. Searching/filtering is also well thought out. And of course the ability to visually edit data in a predictable interface is priceless.

**What do you dislike about DbVisualizer?**

We've used DbVisualize since 2000, shortly after it was released. Over the last 20+ years, we've seen the product grow in a stable fashion with well-thought-out additions. At this time, we have no "wish-list" ....

**Recommendations to others considering DbVisualizer:**

We've used this tool for over 20 years. There are other options. That should say it all.

**What problems is DbVisualizer solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Our company builds critical apps for customers. We also manage those apps for our clients either in the cloud or in their private data centers. DbVisualizer is used by our developers, DBAs, and DevOps folks. Without it, we would have to use a mixture of tools and wouldn't be able to benefit from others in the company with DbVisualizer experience.

  ### 22. Reliable tool that my team has had a great experience with

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Tanay D. | Director, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 12, 2022

**What do you like best about DbVisualizer?**

Clean interface with quick load times and picks right back up where you left off

**What do you dislike about DbVisualizer?**

A better way to create subfolders and review fields for lesser-known table views; it's possible to review the field names; however, it's hard to find

**What problems is DbVisualizer solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It gives our team the ability to query data quickly that a data visualization tool wouldn't be able to do in the same in the speed/time

**Official Response from Sandra B:**

> Hi Tanay,

Thank you for your review! I will forward your feedback on creating subfolders to our developers.

  ### 23. Very nifty, does the job

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Karthik Kumar V. | Director Of Engineering, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 12, 2022

**What do you like best about DbVisualizer?**

The fact that most drivers work out of the box

**What do you dislike about DbVisualizer?**

Connectivity to some sources like Snowflake require uploading a private key. Using generic dialogues for configuration should be specialized. Fix the UI scale issues on high DPI displays.

**What problems is DbVisualizer solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Able to cross connect between different DBs, jump hosts is helpful.
Editing rows is good where supported.

**Official Response from Sandra B:**

> Thank you for your valuable feedback.

  ### 24. Best software out there!

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Joseph B. | Data Analyst, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 12, 2022

**What do you like best about DbVisualizer?**

UI is very friendly, and there are a vast number of ways to customize and configure your experience.

**What do you dislike about DbVisualizer?**

The only thing I would mention is to role out updates seamlessly there have been a few with bugs that needed patches.

**What problems is DbVisualizer solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Bridges the gap bewteeen viewing data and simultaneously querying it.

**Official Response from Sandra B:**

> Thank you for your review, Joseph!

  ### 25. 5 years and still going strong!

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Bradley P. | Senior Data Solutions Analyst, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 31, 2022

**What do you like best about DbVisualizer?**

Ease of use along with a plethora of customizable options makes for an amazing tool. After leaving my last job, I started paying for it myself because I missed it so much at my new one!

**What do you dislike about DbVisualizer?**

While the plethora of options can sometimes cause analysis paralysis, its easy enough to jump on the forum for a quick search or reach out to the team directly for help. Some things may be tough to figure out, but I've never been left in a fog unsure of how to proceed!

**What problems is DbVisualizer solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Being able to quickly write queries and do analysis right within the tool itself saves an ample amount of time in the long run. Looking at statistics and charts without having to leave the program has been instrumental in saving time; and time = money!

**Official Response from Sandra B:**

> Hi Bradley,

Thank you for your review of our software! I'm happy to hear that you found our support resources helpful.

  ### 26. DBViz is the go-to for multi-database development.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer & Network Security | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 22, 2022

**What do you like best about DbVisualizer?**

Multi-database development. Query results that can be searched. Connection highlighting to denote prod and dev environments. Link to your scripts folder and directly open them in the tool.

**What do you dislike about DbVisualizer?**

More administrative features for popular RDBMS would be nice. The search functionality works well, but I think there could be some improvement such as seeing a table with your matching results.

**What problems is DbVisualizer solving and how is that benefiting you?**

DBViz has allowed me to connect to databases from systems that have become legacy. In my job I have found myself in need to access aging accounting, CRM, and other systems. DBViz has always given me the ability to connect.

  ### 27. I have been using for 10 years and it is my favorite database tool

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Information Services | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 12, 2022

**What do you like best about DbVisualizer?**

It can access almost every database technology, and the UI is great.

**What do you dislike about DbVisualizer?**

Doesn't work with SSO - at least as far as I know.

**What problems is DbVisualizer solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It allows me to work with different database technologies using a common interface - at the same time.

**Official Response from Sandra B:**

> I'm glad to hear that you still prefer DbVisualizer after 10 years! Hoping for 10 more :)

  ### 28. Awesome since 2013 (the day we met)

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Leonardo D. | CTO & Senior Software Engineer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 31, 2022

**What do you like best about DbVisualizer?**

What I like best about DBVisualizer is how easy it is to navigate the data through entities (tables) and display a graphic representation of the relations. I haven't seen this feature in any other DB admin software.

**What do you dislike about DbVisualizer?**

I was going to say the lack of a dark theme, but you guys solved with the last versions, so I think the only feature I miss is creating tables from the references view graphically, sometimes it is better to have the full view of the model to add a new entity.

**What problems is DbVisualizer solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I work with a set of different database engines in a wide variety of projects. I've looked into a lot of software to view and manage those databases in one place. So far, DBVisualizer is the most accurate.

**Official Response from Sandra B:**

> Hi Leonardo,

Thank you for choosing DbVisualizer for almost 10 years, that's amazing and makes us so happy! I will forward your wish to create tables from the references view graphically to our developers, hopefully they are able to work that in to a future update.

  ### 29. Excellent for decades

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Transportation/Trucking/Railroad | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 04, 2022

**What do you like best about DbVisualizer?**

It organizes many connections and database types in a nice tree and provides default driver jars for most. It helps with building queries and execution plans. It provides lower level features like writing large result sets to disk without excessive memory.

**What do you dislike about DbVisualizer?**

It sometimes uses a lot of memory. It could help more with schema diagrams, design tools, and programmer tools like generating data transfer objects from tables or vice versa.

**What problems is DbVisualizer solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I create and use databases as a programmer, data analyst, and machine learning engineer. Have used dbvis for over a decade with many different databases and subject areas. It's nice to have a familiar tool that is continually improving with new features and support for new databases.

  ### 30. Excellent utility

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Michael W. | IT Audit Specialist, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 04, 2022

**What do you like best about DbVisualizer?**

Almosr everything and simplicity of the software

**What do you dislike about DbVisualizer?**

I do not like the bright color of the handle on right side of the screen. It is very hard to see when I need to scroll thru a table.

**What problems is DbVisualizer solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It is very easy to establish which tables in a database that are related to each other and to find the different keys. I love the possibility to visualize the relations between tables. This is a big help when I create script for analysis purposes. It is very important that you know exactly which fields contain the primary and secondary keys. Your software is just great for this. It have taking my analysis skill to a higher level.

  ### 31. Best desktop tool for any database work (dev or DBA)

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Bert S. | Chief technology Officer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 02, 2022

**What do you like best about DbVisualizer?**

DBVisualizer simply works and is super intuitive. Rather than using different tools for different databases, one tool to work with any database.

**What do you dislike about DbVisualizer?**

Very little. Occasionally, a very large database operation might require increasing the memory allocated to the tool.

**What problems is DbVisualizer solving and how is that benefiting you?**

No matter whether dev or DBA type tasks, DBVisualizer makes short work of any database task.

  ### 32. Great product.

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Education Management | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 12, 2022

**What do you like best about DbVisualizer?**

Easy to configure! Perfect when you have different databases.

**What do you dislike about DbVisualizer?**

Upgraded from 13 to 14. 14 is slow to run queries on my M1 mac

**What problems is DbVisualizer solving and how is that benefiting you?**

One place to have different connections from different databases.

**Official Response from Sandra B:**

> Thank you for your feedback!

Queries running slower on v14 does not sound right. Please open a support ticket using the Help->Contact support option in DbVisualizer, and our developers will surely be able to help.

  ### 33. Finding New Ways to Use DbVis Almost Every Time I Use It

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Bradley L. | Program Manager, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 22, 2021

**What do you like best about DbVisualizer?**

I use DbVis professionally against DB2 and personally against MariaDB. What I appreciate the most is stability. I've used free query tools in the past that never seem either stable enough or have the features I depend on. The ability to choose between typiing SQL or using the graphical query builder is great (and the query builder serves as a great teaching tool when onboarding new team members and bringing them up to speed on the data model. I appreciate the ability to select data in the result set and have DbVis perform simple math such us sum total and average. I also like begin able to select data in a result and having DbVis convert that into a In Clause that I can then paste into a query. Spreadsheet export and import are also very solid. This just scratches the surface on things I use every day.

**What do you dislike about DbVisualizer?**

Honestly, what I dislike is the overwhelming amount of features in DbVis it's difficult to know and leverage all of them. I often see a colleague use a feature I didn't know about that I wish I had none sooner.

**What problems is DbVisualizer solving and how is that benefiting you?**

In my role I use DbVis for QA and adhoc data dumps on a DevOps team that owns a data-intensive web application. The ability to set test data quickly, test the application, and see the results speeds our UAT process. I'm also able to quickly pull data sets as adhoc reports that often serve as prototypes for future reports.

  ### 34. An everyday too for anyone playing with one or more RBDMS

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Vivek K. | Engineering Lead, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 27, 2020

**What do you like best about DbVisualizer?**

* I like the fact I can switch between multiple DB in an instance without an issue
* It works across platforms (macOS, Windows, Linux, etc)
* I like the visual query builder
* The tool is stable
* Like the features - import/export, SSH tunnelling, fast searching, duplication, etc.

**What do you dislike about DbVisualizer?**

* A bit on the expensive side

Can't find any other disliking feature. Of course there is always room for improvement.

**What problems is DbVisualizer solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I had to take over legacy DB's and migrate or enhance. DBVisualizer had help me in both scenarios.

The fact that I can realy on a single too makes it worth.

**Official Response from Sandra B:**

> Hi Vivek,

Thank you for taking the time and reviewing our software!

  ### 35. I have been using DbVis at a professional level for more than 11 years. Daily.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Banking | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 12, 2021

**What do you like best about DbVisualizer?**

Grid filtering - it is a great feature that is unique. I am able to find exceptions or whatever else in the SQL results/list of tables or columns and in anything that I am examining. Grid filtering is a time saver. I still use it.

Aggregation data window. Again time saver. Still ready to help me.

Scripts - the way how I can work/save the code.

SQL history - be able to find what I ran in the past.

Copy Selection As - I use this many times daily.

Export Selection...

Updates in sql results - absolutelly free in update. My colleagues must write sql update commands. I only update what I see in result grid and CTRL+S.

Export/Import settings.

Ability to work with many various databases in one tool and in the same way.

**What do you dislike about DbVisualizer?**

When working with Oracle packages, I still find the right procedure in a long packages. It will be nice to implement something similar in Orace SQL Developer for Oracle packages.

When working with quick object filtering, it is a little bit confusing for me or I don't know how to use in a more effective way.

Now I am using the dark theme. Is is great but some windows in main window should be more distinct. It is not clear where inner window ends.

**What problems is DbVisualizer solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I am software developer and I have DbVis open all the time. DbVis is the most important tool for me. I am a member of a small teem (up to 10 people) in a bank. This team develops/supports saving bank data in hadoop infrastructure. We loading data from about 150 source systems and thousands of tables.
Solving problems: investigating and setting metadata, creating PLSQL procedures, checking data from our sources, checking the structures of our sources, testing. In general all what you need in software developping cycle which concerns to databases.
Our sources are mainly on these databases: Oracle, MySql, MSSQL, PostgeSQL.

**Official Response from Sandra B:**

> Hi,

Thank you for your thorough review of DbVisualizer! I suggest you have a look here as it might help with your quick object filtering:

https://confluence.dbvis.com/display/UG121/Viewing+Table+Data#ViewingTableData-QuickFilter

As to your point on the Oracle packages, you'll be happy to know that our developers have an open ticket and are looking into it. Feel free to reach out to us if you have any further feedback, it is much appreciated.

  ### 36. Easy to set up and write queries to existing oracle database

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Higher Education | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 31, 2022

**What do you like best about DbVisualizer?**

As an analyst, it is simple to write sql queries to an existing database. With a complex relational structure, I like that I can view the table names and fields easily, as well as see sample data when writing queries.

**What do you dislike about DbVisualizer?**

There are many features that I have not used extensivly. I would like more training and examples available about how to use macro variables to change query inputs without having to re-write the entire query. I know this is possible, but I haven't had training or been able to use these features yet.

**What problems is DbVisualizer solving and how is that benefiting you?**

When exporting a query or table to a csv, DbVisualizer always defaults to the same folder/file name that I used four or five years ago. Luckly I don't need that file any longer, but there have been instances where I clicked export before changing this file name and overwritten the wrong file by mistake. I don't know how to change the default directory within the import/export screen.

**Official Response from Sandra B:**

> Hi there,

Thank you for your review! The developers wanted you to have a look here as it might help with the variables: https://confluence.dbvis.com/display/UG121/Using+DbVisualizer+Variables

  ### 38. DbVis is my preferred data tool for over 10 years

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Philip B. | DB2 DBA, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 28, 2021

**What do you like best about DbVisualizer?**

Grids with saved WHERE/ORDER BY clauses and Bookmarks are indispensible. And missing from many other tools

**What do you dislike about DbVisualizer?**

For me, this is data-only tool or for simple DDL rev. eng. For DBA stuff and more advanced rev. eng., I use vendor tools such as Oracle SQL Developer, IBM Data Studio for DB2, or SSMS for SQL Server

**What problems is DbVisualizer solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Grids with saved WHERE clauses and Bookmarks to db objects allow me to learn quickly in new environments / new projects.

  ### 39. Reliable, versatile, helpful

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Software | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 04, 2022

**What do you like best about DbVisualizer?**

DbVisualizer providing user-friendly access to helpful tools that work consistently and predicatbly for all RDBMS platforms and across macOS, Windows, and Linux.

**What do you dislike about DbVisualizer?**

As a Java-based application, it can feel a bit bulkier than you would expect from native applications. Its robust feature set and cross-platform consistency more than make up for it.

**What problems is DbVisualizer solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use DbVisualizer for ad-hoc queries for reporting and troubleshooting against large databases (PostgreSQL, mySQL), for testing and refining queries that will be packaged into backend services (PostgreSQL, mySQL), and for preparing reference data that will be packaged into consumer applications (SQLite).

  ### 40. Fantastic tool to manage database and data

**Reviewed by:** Ivan A. | Security Manager, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 22, 2022

**What do you like best about DbVisualizer?**

Powerfullness of the tool, speed and stability.

**What do you dislike about DbVisualizer?**

There's nothing I can say on this topic.

**What problems is DbVisualizer solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Speed on data entry on DBs, data exrtactions and db managements.

  ### 41. A fantastic tool that helps and teaches

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Transportation/Trucking/Railroad | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 04, 2022

**What do you like best about DbVisualizer?**

The ease of viewing the information content;
The number of available connections;
And the way to create complex queries yourself in a simple way.

**What do you dislike about DbVisualizer?**

The only thing I can complain about is the price, but even so, I believe that the value delivered is worth the value paid.

**What problems is DbVisualizer solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Most of the problems are complex queries, query automation, and ease of exporting results. With it, it is very easy to present the data model to other areas and make associations with the company's domains.

  ### 42. a great tool for any db

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Software | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 23, 2022

**What do you like best about DbVisualizer?**

That it works with all the DBs that I commonly use. The visualization for references and ERDs is great.

**What do you dislike about DbVisualizer?**

sometimes it doesn't do what you expect with MySql

**Recommendations to others considering DbVisualizer:**

I've been using it for 15 years and never felt like I needed something else.

**What problems is DbVisualizer solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It helps me quickly find the data I'm looking in large schemas and data sets.

  ### 43. Comfortable Work

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Software | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 02, 2022

**What do you like best about DbVisualizer?**

After creating tables, I can use the ER diagram in the References tab to do a visual check.

**What do you dislike about DbVisualizer?**

All good, there is nothing to dislike. It has good no-nonsense features for comfortable work.
Suggestion: on a Mac, access easily the SQLite file used by the iPhone simulator when it runs an app under development. The file that is inside ~/Library/Developer/CoreSimulator/Devices
The challenge is that everytime the simulator runs an app, the path to the SQLite database file used does change.
SQLiteFlow is the only app I know that is capable of following the path change.

**Recommendations to others considering DbVisualizer:**

It runs reliably, and it has good features.

**What problems is DbVisualizer solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I am creating small databases. The References tab is great, and the reliable export and import functions are much appreciated.

**Official Response from Sandra B:**

> Hi,

Thank you for your review of DbVisualizer! I will forward your suggestion to our developers.

  ### 44. Extremely useful tool for working with databases

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Software | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 31, 2022

**What do you like best about DbVisualizer?**

It just works. Cell editing is extremely useful when debugging and developing. Exporting database content is made easy, as is getting ddl for all the existing stuff. We maintain around two dozen different databases, which is made easier with a tool like dbvis. Also, sharing settings with colleagues is possible and easy.

**What do you dislike about DbVisualizer?**

Startup time (it is JAVA, after all) is just not the best. And some of our used JDBC-drivers need to be installed manually. Some features/settings were quite hard to find, but it is a powerful tool.

**What problems is DbVisualizer solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We maintain and debug several different types of DBMS, also we program for these databases. Being able to do this in one tool and not mandy different helps us working better.

**Official Response from Sandra B:**

> Hi there,

Thank you so much for your review of DbVisualizer! Feel free to check our users guide, support forum or contact our support team directly at support@dbvis.com if you ever need help identifying a specific feature or setting.

  ### 45. A Common Database Tool For Any JDBC-compatible Database

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Software | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 22, 2021

**What do you like best about DbVisualizer?**

The user interface is very intuitive. I love that I can have the same experience if I'm connecting to a local SQLite database or an enterprise SQL Server. Being able to quickly edit data in a grid is a time saver on quick edits. It's just a great single source, universal tool working across platforms (Windows, Linux, Mac) and across all databases. The price is very reasonable for the feature set.

**What do you dislike about DbVisualizer?**

Because it is based on JDBC, there are some implementation details that can be difficult when working with a proprietary feature. For example, I find editing stored procedures in SQL Server to be a little cumbersome compared to the native SQL Server Management Studio. There are some queries that it chokes on as well... again when I'm using something specific to T-SQL. In cases like that, I tend to fire up the native tool. But most of my work is done using straight up queries and for that, this tool is great.

**What problems is DbVisualizer solving and how is that benefiting you?**

My primary use for it started when I was writing a mobile app that wrote to a local SQLite database. There are a lot of free sqlite tools out there, but they always are missing some user friendly features that DbVisualizer offers. Once I started using it for SQLite, it became second nature to use it for any databases I needed to connect to. And given it's price, I choose to pay out of pocket to be able to maintain this consistency.

  ### 46. Easy to Use Interface

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Information Technology and Services | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 06, 2022

**What do you like best about DbVisualizer?**

I like DbViualizer where it is really easy to use; I recently moved to another project from 6 months where they were using DB visualizer and I didn't know anything about that, but when I started using it, it is straightforward to use and a clean tool to use, also most RDBMS support this tool.

**What do you dislike about DbVisualizer?**

I have frequently seen this issue in DbVisualizer, where it disconnects to the database often, and every time I have to reconnect. It may be some internal issue, but mostly, I faced this with Dbvisualizer.

**What problems is DbVisualizer solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Query processing
design and easy to access tools and new features
connect to a database that gives extensive options which one to connect and mainly using with Azure SQL database in Db visualizer.

  ### 47. Nice SQL editor

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Hospital & Health Care | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 28, 2021

**What do you like best about DbVisualizer?**

The best part of DB Visualizer is the SQL editor to pull the data from PgSQL. I love to write and execute complex queries from this editor and I never see any issues while working on this software.

**What do you dislike about DbVisualizer?**

It is good to give multiple commander instances after launching this tool. For now, I can open one instance and not sure where is the issue. This part I don't like it.

**Recommendations to others considering DbVisualizer:**

Obviously it is a good tool for all the developers.

**What problems is DbVisualizer solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We usually use this tool to work on optimization of DB issues coming from our application using PgSQL. We can monitor the data from various tables, joins. Few of our biz team folks using this tool to generate reports from the tables periodically.

  ### 48. Amaizing application to work with DBs in work

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Tim S. | Teamlead of Back-end Golang command, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 23, 2021

**What do you like best about DbVisualizer?**

Almost all features are super usable. DbVisualizer is everyday software for working with Postgresql and Mysql servers.
It's easy to connect, create, delete DBs, tables, construct and debug SQL queries.

**What do you dislike about DbVisualizer?**

Autocompletion is poor. SQL autoformat not for all queries works well. Sometimes very hard to find a category where a necessary property is present in a very customizable configuration.

**What problems is DbVisualizer solving and how is that benefiting you?**

With the DbVizualizer I design my databases and tables in it. It has a handy feature for me: visualize entities' map. Construct SQL queries, debug them, do queries and use DbVizualizer every day in my work.

  ### 49. A good graphical interface for analysis of large databases.

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Software | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 31, 2022

**What do you like best about DbVisualizer?**

DB-Vis allows a fantastic ability to analyze database tables more visually than your standard command-line interface. Clean, neat, and easy to read. The user interface is very intuitive compared to its competitors.

**What do you dislike about DbVisualizer?**

It would be nice to have better graphing options in the graph function of the visualizer. As of right now, I do not have any significant recommendations on how the product could be better for my purposes.

**What problems is DbVisualizer solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We use DB-Vis for multiple analyses, specifically in business intelligence. DB-Vis allows us to troubleshoot our CTEs, DDLs, and other queries efficiently and in record time.

**Official Response from Sandra B:**

> Hi there,

Thank you for your review of DbVisualizer! I will forward your feedback on the graph functions to our developers.

  ### 50. Pleasant experience

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 09, 2022

**What do you like best about DbVisualizer?**

Everything is clear and simple to use. I learned SQL from scratch on DB Visualizer

**What do you dislike about DbVisualizer?**

Cannot tell much. It is better to use the Microsfot Visual Studio

**Recommendations to others considering DbVisualizer:**

My life is easier

**What problems is DbVisualizer solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Basic problems lot of inserts and selects. But generally it saves me lots of time
