Technically, you have to mark your renewal date next year on your calendar yourself because your plan will automatically get renewed and charged unnoticed. (No reminder or consent) When you receive a bill? it's too late: there is no way for you to get a refund because it's their "new policy" even if you contact them the day of the billing. They should either send their customers a consent/notification before the auto renew at least once, or let the user cancel and get a refund, especially when they didn't use the plan yet. I feel like i've been scammed. **What problems is Dacast solving and how is that benefiting you?** I purchased it for my solo art project streaming 4 live-feed videos for 24 hour a month. Even though my project was conceptually worked, the physical work itself didn't work properly because one or two of the videos always freezed every other day. And their new policy? They have your credit card as a hostage. ### 2. Slow response, non-technical & unprofessional. We experienced a technical issue on Dacast's player (video not looping). We even created a demo page for their team to investigate. Three weeks later, still no solution to the issue & no timeframe for when they will resolve the issue. I asked for an update, and customer service told me to be patient. Completely hopeless. Customer service downloaded our video and re-uploaded a testing video to our account without notification or communication. That makes me unsure about the data security on Dacast, as their staff can access the content on our account without agreement. Also, Dacast's UX is immature, in my option. the control portal is not user-friendly compared to competitors like Vimeo. The video player still has a play icon popped up even after setting the player to be no play button in the theme. Overall, we are very disappointed with Dacast. **What problems is Dacast solving and how is that benefiting you?** We wanted a video streaming service that is accessible from China. Dacast did work from that aspect. However, because of the technical problem with their player, we have removed Dacast from service completely. ### 3. And when we needed help, the customer service was like the best. Also was able to try this into one steaming service to other social media sites. We were able to input the steams into our website and also steam them to all the mobile devices that were watching the link that we send out for the live stream. **What do you dislike about Dacast?** So far, we have not been able to find anything that we dislike about the Dacast. **What problems is Dacast solving and how is that benefiting you?** In the past, we used to have these large projects on the Shake Table and were not able to take Cameras and live steam them without having choking issues on the live steam. But with this service, we take our Wirecast system and use them for the back-in for live steam. And it is easy too. ### 4. In talking to these people, you can tell they really care. That is missing in 90% of the streamers I have used. **What do you dislike about Dacast?** I used this service for some time and had great results. The problem I had was that they do not do encoding. That means that if you want multiple biot rates for smartphones, slow connections, and big screen TVF's, you have to send it in the original stream. This caused a lessening of the quality and also caused problems as I had difficulty getting the larger stream to them without buffering. **What problems is Dacast solving and how is that benefiting you?** I am not using them at this time. I believe that the platform (without using APIs) may be suitable for many people. **What do you dislike about Dacast?** I highly recommend that you do not use the Dacast API; the API is extremely weak compared to the competition. The current API that is publically available uses their old platform. When using the legacy platform and API, there are multiple issues - the main one being that macOS and iOs users can not view the live stream without enabling cookies. Additionally, this API only provides limited post-event analytics with virtually no support for live analytics. The company is aware of this and they have since upgraded their platform (mid-2020 to mid-2021); however, they have not updated the API yet leaving customers like us in the dark. Support is hit-or-miss; we either receive amazing support (from Sales and Account Management) or our emails go unanswered unless we follow up multiple times (Technical). **What problems is Dacast solving and how is that benefiting you?** We are using the Dacast API to build an application that has video live streaming as one of multiple components. ### 6. Since we are using another streaming tool, DaCast helps us to stream using RTMP, which is excellent. Hopefully, we can avail of a higher plan so that we can broadcast longer. We have clients in three continents and the distribution network is critical. DaCast offers a powerful API to automate all our live and VOD process from our client and administrative platform. They are improving constantly the service in order to add new features of the streaming world (As low delay streaming). DaCast has the great live recording feature to go back in live events. The storage for VOD is cost-effective and the process to add recordings is very easy. All the magic is done in the DaCast servers infrastructure. **What do you dislike about Dacast?** It is difficult to access to some advanced features of the underneath CDN. As a white brand for Akamai it is understandable. I also like the fact that everything is included under one roof - live streaming, PPV and on demand video streaming, as well as the ability to collect fees charged that viewers pay to watch PPV. Also, DaCast's customer service is top notch. I receive replies to my questions usually within an hour regardless of who I need to contact. **What do you dislike about Dacast?** When DaCast does upgrades, they sometimes do not thoroughly check everything to make sure it all works. For the most part, it all does. But when problems occur, it sometimes takes them a few days to modify and repair them. The tech people need to test more before rushing them out for public release. As of this review, there are still issues with the scheduler in the Playlist function since the upgrade to the new video player...and it's been ongoing for a few months. Clients had the option of remaining with the old player until the end of March, but now the new player is required and the scheduler is still not working. The analytics are frequently not accurate, confusing, and sometimes do not load and are cumbersome to use. Fortunately for my situation, they are not that important. One other thing I'm not crazy about - PPV charges can only be collected once $100 has been amassed and that's a few months for me. **Recommendations to others considering Dacast:** DaCast provides excellent, lower-cost streaming and their customer service is top notch. I highly recommend them. **What problems is Dacast solving and how is that benefiting you?** DaCast provides an affordable way for anyone, regardless of budget, to be able to stream high quality video to an unlimited audience. I've to say dacast is one of the best streaming services out there. of all the features in dacast the social sharing is the most helpful tool for me which help me stream the video live to facebook. the software integrates well with webcams as well as digital camera's. paywall integration is another great feature in dacst that lets you create a pay per view layer and create unique user logins to access the content. its also very easy to embed the HTML player to the websites and dacast doesn't show any ads unlike many other services out there. the pricing is also cheap when it comes to dacast and the monthly plan starts at just $19. the customer service is absolutely great and they are online 24/7 to help you out with the questions. there are tons of options available after uploading the videos. you can set your own privacy settings and closed captions according to your need.they also offer a free trial to try their service before paying for it. **What do you dislike about Dacast?** sometimes the uploading freezes and frequent failures happen while uploading large files through the browser. the interface isn't really appealing comping with other similar services out there. analytics of the video needs improvement. **Recommendations to others considering Dacast:** this is the best CDN out there for the price, i highly recommend you to take their free trial. **What problems is Dacast solving and how is that benefiting you?** dacast helps me to stream videos privately. its one of the best video streaming CDN's. ### 28. It is easy to use has more features than we need. One important feature for us is being able to set the thumbnail to whatever we want. They have a very nice audio player that has been an excellent solution to occasional needs for audio in web pages. The player looks good too. **What do you dislike about Dacast?** I have no complaints. That is a fact. Many years ago there were some bumps as the world switched from Flash players to responsive HTML players. But they were on top of this. **What problems is Dacast solving and how is that benefiting you?** Some client Youtube accounts cannot access that feature - so it is nice to have Vzaar available. Also the audio player feature. ### 30. Their chat support is outstanding and always goes above and beyond to help me figure out workarounds when I'm trying to figure how to do things that aren't readily available out of the box. **What do you dislike about Dacast?** Occasionally we'll have a caching issue where the browser needs to be rebooted to watch the video. I also wish some of the features were easier to manipulate (like the CTA at the end of the video, styling has to be done in Java and not right within their platform) **What problems is Dacast solving and how is that benefiting you?** Needed to have a Video hosing solution that could easily be embedded on our website and provide tracking and end of video CTA. Works great!
