## About Costwitness
Costwitness is the owner's independent cost ledger for guaranteed maximum price (GMP) construction contracts, separate from the contractor's books. It tracks two contingency funds and financial movements across the project through nine modules. The GMP baseline locks a versioned record of the GMP. Payment applications are reviewed against documentation. The contingency ledger tracks contractor and owner funds separately. The change order register records the cause of each change with automated notice tracking. Further modules cover buyout, allowances, anticipated final cost, shared savings, and an automated monthly owner report. The platform keeps audit trails, flags unclassified items, and records missed deadlines. It gives the owner independent financial oversight without replacing accounting systems, the contractor's platform, or external analysis.
