I find CookieYes to be quite beginner-friendly, especially since all the essentials are included in its free plan, unlike some other WordPress plugins that require a premium plan for essential features. The detailed launch guides with instructive pictures are really helpful, and the customer service support is brilliant. When I had a small issue with the cookie scanning, Ronn from customer support resolved it quickly and efficiently, making me feel like a priority, and Mia from customer service kept me updated on the progress of my ticket. It would be cool if there was an option to trial the premium plans without having to input card details. It would also be good if you could use the cookies picked up in a previous cookie scan for your cookie preferences, rather than just those picked up in the most recent scan. We came across Cookie Yes when we needed a 'cookie-thing' for our website, with little or almost no knowledge about cookies except for the fact that it is required to have these managed. What I liked best was the eventual resolution and persistence of the support team in a complex, high-stakes situation. My request to cancel an auto-renewal and remove the credit card was complicated by an inaccessible original account owner's email, which led to necessary security verification steps.

Mia Lynn from the support team was courteous, professional, and persistent throughout the multi-day exchange. Despite the initial friction and my clear opposition to unauthorized charges, they successfully followed through on their promise. They confirmed the card removal and zero charges were made, which ultimately prevented a major business problem for us. The primary frustration was the excessive and protracted security protocol required for a basic subscription change—removing a credit card and canceling an auto-renewal when the account owner had left the company.

The mandatory DNS verification or other manual alternatives were very rigid and time-consuming, especially since I, as the managing director, was clearly communicating our business decision to discontinue the service. The process felt overly bureaucratic and prioritized internal security procedures over a prompt and customer-centric service resolution. It took multiple days and several emails, including an explicit threat of legal action against unauthorized charges, before the issue was finally resolved. The flexibility in cookie categorization. You can manually assign cookies to custom categories (e.g., Necessary, Functional, Advertisement), which gives you control over how tags fire based on user consent — and it supports full consent mode integration with GA4, Meta, LinkedIn, etc.

Customer support is fast and helpful. When we had issues with delayed consent updates, the support team responded quickly with clear guidance and even pointed out specific legacy scripts causing conflicts. It struggles to auto-detect and categorize common cookies correctly

Even for well-known platforms like LinkedIn, Google Ads, and StackAdapt, CookieYes sometimes labels them as “uncategorized,” especially if they’re loaded dynamically or through GTM. This forces manual auditing, which can be time-consuming and error-prone. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Unfortunately, the Cookieyes cookie is not PCI-DSS compliant and is set without obtaining any consent. As a result, you need to remove Cookieyes before running any PCI-DSS scan and then add it back afterward. This process is far from ideal. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Ease of implementation, I was chatting to tech support, and was about to ask several questions, when everything just worked perfectly, right out the 'box'! I had a few more technical/compliance related questions, and tech support (Nick) - answered my questions quickly, and confidently. I look forward to seeing the insights that the portal delivers. They responded to the need to extend the trial period, after several emails. AND once I became a customer, the support team went above and beyond, assisting me with problems I was have with Vimeo, a video hosting service which is not their product....Vimeo gave me the run around, cookieyes told me how to solve the vimeo problem. The trial period is only 14 days, which is too short if problems arise or for example, a freelancer, like myself, who often needs client input on issues before progress can be made. I have found it very simple to get started. Easy to use. And when I did have an issue, their support team was able to help me right away. I found their contact information easily, when I couldn't find an answer in their self-help. Nothing worse then having to go through endless attempts by them to stop me from asking a question when their self-help can't answer it. I've only been using it for a week but so far so good.
