## Coderbyte Reviews
 ### 1. Coderbyte Is a Game-Changer for Fraud Screening and Fast, Flexible Hiring

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Scott A. | Data Science Recruiter, Internet, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 01, 2026

**What do you like best about Coderbyte?**

Coderbyte has been a game changer for us. I’m a solo recruiter supporting all areas for a 300+ person company, and one of my biggest challenges is making sure that “real” candidates are the ones making it through the process, something that’s getting harder and harder every day.

I use Coderbyte Assessments for both software engineering and financial/analytical roles as the first, primary fraud gate candidates need to pass. The amount of time it has saved us, both in recruiting effort and in avoiding regrettable hires, has been significant. Their live interviewing tool is simple and intuitive, and it gives my interviewersl a lot of flexibility with very little ramp-up time to use the product effectively.

Their product support and leadership are just as strong as the product itself. Any time I’ve had a feature request or run into a random bug, I’ve received a response in less than an hour, often directly from their leadership team.

**What do you dislike about Coderbyte?**

There is nothing I dislike about Coderbyte

**What problems is Coderbyte solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Assessing for true candidates while identifying cheaters/scammers/fraudulent candidates with minimal effort.

 ### 2. High-Performance Coding Assessments to Streamline Technical Screening

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Lalit J. | Senior Consultant, Development, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 01, 2026

**What do you like best about Coderbyte?**

What I like most about Coderbyte is how easy it is to create and manage coding assessments. The platform offers a wide range of programming challenges, supports multiple languages, and provides a clean interface for both recruiters and candidates. It has streamlined our technical screening process, saving time while helping us identify candidates with strong problem-solving skills. The customization options and automated evaluation make the hiring process much more efficient. Tool is hightly performant, with no hiccups with speed. It has really helped with onboarding of the new hires and streamline the process.

**What do you dislike about Coderbyte?**

Overall, I have had a very positive experience with Coderbyte. If I had to point out one area for improvement, it would be adding more customization options for assessments and expanding the AI-powered insights for evaluating candidate performance. While the current interface is clean and responsive, a few advanced workflow and reporting features would make it even more valuable for larger hiring teams. Pricing could be little better.

**What problems is Coderbyte solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It has been helpful in our hiring process by streamlining the coding rounds for new hires and making onboarding smoother.

 ### 3. Customizable, Efficient, with Outstanding Support

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Callum R. | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 01, 2026

**What do you like best about Coderbyte?**

I appreciate that Coderbyte automates part of the interview process, which helps our engineers save time. I also like the responsive Customer Service/Success team that always seems to be supportive. The ability to create our own assessments is very useful, allowing us to email the team to add new ones when needed. The best part is that we can build custom tests tailored to our exact tech stack, enabling candidates to solve real-world problems instead of generic riddles. Additionally, setting up and creating new challenges is pretty easy.

**What do you dislike about Coderbyte?**

In today's world of AI, candidates can use this very easily on these types of challenges, so integrating AI into the challenges but also flagging when they've overused AI. It would be great if Coderbyte had a flagging system focused less on blocking text and more on analyzing a candidate's typing patterns or code creation speed, especially since built-in browser AI assistants now make traditional copy and paste detection nearly impossible.

**What problems is Coderbyte solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use Coderbyte to automate interview processes, saving engineers' time. I appreciate creating custom assessments tailored to our tech stack and solving real-world problems.

 ### 4. Effortless Test Creation with Versatile Templates

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Sateesh V. | Sr.Manager, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 01, 2026

**What do you like best about Coderbyte?**

I like that Coderbyte provides test templates for each technology, which helps create tests easily without any hassle. It offers a variety of questions that make sense and have helped us a lot. The setup was easy, and I didn't find it difficult to use.

**What do you dislike about Coderbyte?**

Overall it works fine for me but some of the areas like, when you have multiple tests for different tests, it is difficult to find what you need. One more since we are more AI focused so I suggest creating templates which validate AI skill sets.

**What problems is Coderbyte solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Coderbyte provides test templates for C#, Java, QA automation, JavaScript, and mobile development, making it easy to create tests effortlessly. It offers diverse questions that make sense, aiding significantly in candidate evaluation.

 ### 5. Solid Question Bank and Simple UI, Though Candidate Page Performance Can Lag

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Automotive | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 01, 2026

**What do you like best about Coderbyte?**

We've had a good experience using Coderbyte for technical interviews. It offers a solid question bank, and the ability to add our own custom questions is a big advantage. Support for multiple programming languages makes it suitable for different roles and candidate preferences. The UI is simple and easy to navigate, making the interview process efficient. The only improvement I'd suggest is performance - occasionally, the candidate page requires a refresh before it loads properly. Overall, it's a reliable platform that has streamlined our technical hiring process.

**What do you dislike about Coderbyte?**

Overall, the platform works well, but there are a few areas that could be improved. Performance is the biggest one - occasionally, the candidate page takes longer to load and requires a manual refresh, which can interrupt a live interview. It would also be helpful to have faster page transitions and a more responsive UI. Other than that, the platform has been reliable and meets our technical interviewing needs.

**What problems is Coderbyte solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Coderbyte simplifies our technical hiring process by providing coding assessments, live interviews, and customizable question banks in one platform. It saves us time, helps standardize candidate evaluations, and supports multiple programming languages, making the interview process more efficient and consistent.

 ### 6. User-Friendly Platform with Room for Improvement

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 01, 2026

**What do you like best about Coderbyte?**

I like that Coderbyte is simple, clean, and very user-friendly. It's easy to navigate without any training. I appreciate that there are prebuilt tests available on the platform that I can use, or I can build our own to test candidates appropriately.

**What do you dislike about Coderbyte?**

Initially, I was copying and pasting the link from Coderbyte and sending it to candidates outside of the platform. While that works, I think there should be a heavy leaning towards leveraging the platform to send the coding test. That way, you can see how long people are sitting, waiting, what the delay is, and whether they've opened it. Having that as a kind of hint or some kind of top tip of how to use it would be helpful.

**What problems is Coderbyte solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I send invitations to candidates for prebuilt tests on Coderbyte, allowing them to complete, submit, and review answers. It helps determine their technical strength to move forward.

 ### 7. Essential Tool for Real-World Skill Assessment

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Kevin J. | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 01, 2026

**What do you like best about Coderbyte?**

I use Coderbyte to help gauge candidates in the interview process, and I really appreciate how it helps me get a read on their skillsets and problem-solving skills in real-time. I like that you can focus on real-world problems and see real problem-solving in action, rather than just focusing on theoretical knowledge. The initial setup of Coderbyte was very easy, which is always a plus.

**What do you dislike about Coderbyte?**

More flexibility in maybe offering a containerized solution similar to cloud learning platforms.

**What problems is Coderbyte solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use Coderbyte to gauge candidates during interviews, seeing their skillsets and problem-solving skills in real-time with a focus on real-world problems rather than theoretical knowledge.

 ### 8. Straightforward, Simple UI with a Low Learning Curve

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Wenmo S. | Data Engineer, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 01, 2026

**What do you like best about Coderbyte?**

Straightforward and simple UI, functional, basic, low learning curve, easy to use

**What do you dislike about Coderbyte?**

The question library/bank doesn't support complex formatting. Or it's not obvious how to set it up.

**What problems is Coderbyte solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Tech interview. It's a straightforward tool for the purpose of giving interviews. No surprise to the first time users.

 ### 9. Smooth Interface and Effective Test Solutions

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Hemant S. | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 01, 2026

**What do you like best about Coderbyte?**

I like using Coderbyte because it's a good platform to conduct tests for applicants, and having the video solution at the end helps a lot. I appreciate that it hides paragraphs so users cannot easily take photos and feed them to AI, which I liked. The user interface is good, and the transitions are smooth. The initial setup was quite easy as well.

**What do you dislike about Coderbyte?**

nothing as of now

**What problems is Coderbyte solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use Coderbyte to conduct tests for applicants. The video solutions at the end are really helpful.

 ### 10. Perfect for Cheating Prevention and User-Friendly

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 01, 2026

**What do you like best about Coderbyte?**

I use Coderbyte to take tests created by my employers and really appreciate how it helps in avoiding cheaters. I like the way results are presented, as it automatically creates a leaderboard with the results of all participants and provides an estimated accuracy if someone is cheating. The initial setup was quite easy for me since HR did it, so I only had to take the tests and view the results. Overall, I haven't come across any issues with the platform so far and would rate it a 10 out of 10.

**What do you dislike about Coderbyte?**

Nothing so far.

**What problems is Coderbyte solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Coderbyte helps avoid cheaters by automatically creating a leaderboard with participants' results and estimating their accuracy. I like the way results are presented.

 ### 11. Primary Tool for Technical Recruitment

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Riddhi G. | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 01, 2026

I use Coderbyte as our primary technical recruitment driver. I appreciate its ability to enable us to design custom, skill-specific assessments that streamline hiring and ensure top-tier engineering talent. I also find it incredibly user-friendly, which made the initial setup process smooth for me.

**What do you dislike about Coderbyte?**

If it can disable copy paste option that will be great

**What problems is Coderbyte solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use Coderbyte to filter out a lot of candidates, and it streamlines our hiring with custom skill-specific assessments, ensuring top-tier engineering talent.

 ### 12. Makes Job Assessments Easy with Strong Coding Challenges and Cheating Detection

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Industrial Automation | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 01, 2026

**What do you like best about Coderbyte?**

It is particularly good for coding challenges, detecting AI usage and other forms of cheating during the process.
Overall it makes setting up job assessments very easy, particularly for the type of roles that it has ready made assessments for.

**What do you dislike about Coderbyte?**

It could be better for the assessment of roles beyond coding, such as design roles, mechanical and electronics engineering roles, sales roles, etc.

**What problems is Coderbyte solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Automating the assessment of candidates' skills.

 ### 13. Great UI, Helpful Templates, and a Streamlined Testing Process

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Katarzyna P. | Talent Acquisition Specialist, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 01, 2026

**What do you like best about Coderbyte?**

Great UI, available templates, streamlined process

**What do you dislike about Coderbyte?**

I think there should be better functions for cheating/AI usage checking by candidates during testing.

**What problems is Coderbyte solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Automated testing, quicker recruitment process.

 ### 14. Flexible, Custom Assessments Made Easy

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Susanna K. | Director of Talent and Administration, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 01, 2026

**What do you like best about Coderbyte?**

Coderbyte has flexibility in creating our own assessments.

**What do you dislike about Coderbyte?**

It was trying to catch the cheating, but some things were not considered and we might the result decision incorrect for some cases.

**What problems is Coderbyte solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Bulk management of assessments, invitations, assessment results for our open roles, considering that we are doing a large scale hiring. Providing library with various questions/challenges especially for coding.

 ### 15. Easy Setup, Comprehensive Coding Tests That Save Time

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Software | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 17, 2026

**What do you like best about Coderbyte?**

Coderbyte is easy to set up and get running. It’s very comprehensive, with a large set of test questions to choose from, and they work across multiple languages. It saves me a heap of time figuring out who can actually code and who’s just faking it.

**What do you dislike about Coderbyte?**

Pricing for small business is a bit rough. If you are hiring for many roles, the pricing is a bargain. Also, the pay per candidate option is OK if you are sending out a comprehensive test to a final few candidates. As a small business, hiring one person every couple of years, it is expensive.

**What problems is Coderbyte solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Testing which candidates can write code and who is pretending. Coderbyte helps to sort though a large list of applicants

 ### 16. Excellent for Recruiting!

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Pippa Rose R. | Head of Technology, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 11, 2023

**What do you like best about Coderbyte?**

We were able to setup our own challenges as well as throwing in some challenges that have been pre-written by coderbyte. It lets us have the questions we want whilst getting some good ideas.

**What do you dislike about Coderbyte?**

Pricing is very geared up to you having continuous recruitment requirements, which certainly for a small business, is unlikely. Bought for one month, then cancelled but it would be nice to see something a bit more tailored.

**What problems is Coderbyte solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Getting an idea of a candidates skills before hiring them, and also as a way to narrow down applicants before a formal interview. It's also nice to have something to discuss with them at interview.

 ### 17. Easy to Use with Rich, Accurate Data

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Consulting | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 01, 2026

**What do you like best about Coderbyte?**

Easy to use with rich and accurate data.

**What do you dislike about Coderbyte?**

I don't see any downsizes as of yet. it's fit for purpose

**What problems is Coderbyte solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Candiate assessments reducing time to interview, asess

 ### 18. Extensive Assessment Library and Seamless Candidate Evaluation

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Hiram S. | Recruitment Manager, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 28, 2025

**What do you like best about Coderbyte?**

Starting for their extensive library of assessments for candidates. The ability to conduct a live coding interview within the platform and how easy it is to evaluate candidates.

**What do you dislike about Coderbyte?**

I do not have any strong dislikes, besides the fact that if you are not currently paying an invoice, you can not see past candidates' results.

**What problems is Coderbyte solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It is saving time, we are able to evaluate the technical abilities of candidates before a full interview with an engineer, and we are sure that only suitable candidates are moving forward in the process.

 ### 19. You get what you pay for: Works for the Most Part, But there's bugs

**Rating:** 1.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Higher Education | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 01, 2026

**What do you like best about Coderbyte?**

It works well for the most part. It’s no-frills and does what I expect.

**What do you dislike about Coderbyte?**

Payments often don’t work. You also can’t export data unless you pay a lot more money. On top of that, the candidate experience is poor—for example, if they need to use Google Search, it’s broken.

**What problems is Coderbyte solving and how is that benefiting you?**

running assessments

 ### 20. Effortless Setup and User-Friendly Experience

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Daniel S. | Group Recruitment Advisor, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 05, 2025

**What do you like best about Coderbyte?**

Super easy to use and set up. Also like the clear breakdown of results and scores.

**What do you dislike about Coderbyte?**

Would love to have more use for roles outside of tech

Definitely helps when we have a high number of candidates.

 ### 21. Easy-to-Navigate Testing Platform with Top-Notch Customer Service

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Sreelakshmy M. | Associate - Talent Acquisition, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 30, 2026

**What do you like best about Coderbyte?**

The tests that have been created and easy to navigate site - customer service is top notch

**What do you dislike about Coderbyte?**

Pricing is a bit on the expensive side..

**What problems is Coderbyte solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It's helping us get qualified candidates for various job requirements

 ### 22. Effective and easy-to-use hiring tool

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Software | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 15, 2026

**What do you like best about Coderbyte?**

As a CTO, I used Coderbyte to screen and interview engineering candidates. It’s easy to use, quick to set up, and the assessments make it simple to compare candidates. It saved our team time and helped us focus interviews on the strongest applicants.

**What do you dislike about Coderbyte?**

I’d love a more flexible plan for months when we are not interviewing as much.

**What problems is Coderbyte solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Coderbyte helps us quickly assess technical skills of engineering candidate before live interviews. It saves time, reduces bias in screening, and lets us focus our interviews on the most qualified candidates.

 ### 23. Great for Candidate Assessment

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Marketing and Advertising | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 14, 2026

**What do you like best about Coderbyte?**

Coderbyte is very user-friendly. Every time our team uses it, we have a very easy time setting up assessments.

**What do you dislike about Coderbyte?**

One hangup from my usability is that, when exporting assessment reports, code can sometimes get cut off based on how the PDF formats, which can be inconvenient when sharing with other stakeholders in our interview process.

It also is generally a bit pricey.

**What problems is Coderbyte solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It helps us assess candidates' technical ability early on in our interview process so we can move the right people forward.

 ### 24. Effortless Interviewing and Testing at Scale

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Cameron M. | CEO, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 23, 2025

**What do you like best about Coderbyte?**

Makes it easier to interview and test people at scale. Support and ease of use is fantastic.

**What do you dislike about Coderbyte?**

When I'm not constantly interviewing, the monthly subscription doesn't make sense for me.

**What problems is Coderbyte solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It allows me to spread the opportunity of our role have have a top of funnel of thousands of people.

 ### 25. Great Analysis and Auto Detection, Satisfying Question Bank

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Software | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 25, 2025

**What do you like best about Coderbyte?**

The analysis and auto detection. Also the question bank satisfies our need.

**What do you dislike about Coderbyte?**

The only issue I have is that it's not possible to pause the subscription. However, I understand that there are compliance limitations involved.

**What problems is Coderbyte solving and how is that benefiting you?**

They save us a lot of time when it comes to validating candidates' technical skills.

 ### 26. Extensive Test Variety with Engaging Challenges

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Andrea T. | CTO, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 12, 2025

**What do you like best about Coderbyte?**

I appreciate the wide variety of tests available, each offering different levels of difficulty.

**What do you dislike about Coderbyte?**

At times, I find the user experience is not very intuitive.

**What problems is Coderbyte solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Building a new Development team from scratch without having a specific hiring department

 ### 27. Great tool to assist in the recruitment process

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Biotechnology | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 09, 2022

**What do you like best about Coderbyte?**

It is a really useful tool to assist in the recruitment process. It whas really great to have some coding tests that help us identity good candidates. Also, it has a great dev environment and support for many languages.

**What do you dislike about Coderbyte?**

It would be great if solutions were provided and more take-home projects for full stack developers. You need to be careful to avoid making the test too long. Apart from that all good.

**What problems is Coderbyte solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It is supporting the process to asses software developers candidates in the technical area. It also provides some benchmarks to know where the candidates are sitting.

 ### 28. Great Test Site for Hiring

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Carrie C. | Training Coordinator & Happiness Curator, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 16, 2025

**What do you dislike about Coderbyte?**

There really isn't anything I didn't like

**What problems is Coderbyte solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It provides a great testing platform to help us in hiring new software engineers.

 ### 29. We moved from testgorilla to coderbyte and honestly impressed how good coderbyte is!

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Harsha A. | Founders Cafe - FC21 Fellow, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 12, 2024

**What do you like best about Coderbyte?**

It just works! Honestly, while Coderbyte is great for us, I’m even more impressed with how it benefits the people completing the assignments. TestGorilla introduces a lot of friction in the workflow, but Coderbyte keeps things straightforward and simple. The IDE in Coderbyte is significantly better, and I’ve noticed more applicants completing their assignments, which gives us a larger pool of candidates to choose from. Support is awesome and quick too.

Additionally, while TestGorilla doesn’t offer API access, Coderbyte provides both API and webhook access, making it easy for us to connect with our CRM. With TestGorilla, we had to pay for Zapier just to integrate it with our CRM, but Coderbyte eliminates that hassle entirely.

**What do you dislike about Coderbyte?**

Pretty much nothing. It's all smooth so far.

**What problems is Coderbyte solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Accesing the level of candidates.

 ### 30. First time using an online code evaluation tool for hiring

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Information Technology and Services | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 14, 2025

**What do you like best about Coderbyte?**

It was super easy to configure the assessments, and the candidates found the site very easy to navigate. I also really appreciate the pricing model at Coderbyte, as it was much less expensive than alternatives while still offering the (admittedly basic) functionality we needed.

**What do you dislike about Coderbyte?**

It was frustrating to be limited to 50 candidates at a time, which was not super clear until we actually got around to giving the assessment and had to turn people away. We also found it frustrating that it would cost significantly more expensive to be able to offload the assessment results into a JSON or CSV. We ended up just doing it manually and would have been willing to pay slightly more for it, but not another $100 or $200 a month which it cost.

**What problems is Coderbyte solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Coderbyte made it much easier to evaluate the coding skills of intern candidates than reviewing their code manually like we had done in the past.

 ### 31. Huge time saver

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Information Technology and Services | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 28, 2025

**What do you like best about Coderbyte?**

Coderbyte has saved us a ton of time compared to our old processes, which included things like requesting code sammples, or sending them coding challenges that we had to manually run and verify. To be able to send candidates a simple link, and get a quick report is a huge time saver.

**What do you dislike about Coderbyte?**

They have been unwilling to fix a bug in one of their assessments, despite me reporting it several times. We had to manually create our own assessment (which is a nice feature) to be able to correctly assess candidates.

**What problems is Coderbyte solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The problem of getting coding examples from many candidates. This has saved us a ton of time over doing it manually.

 ### 32. The best developer testing platform I've managed to find.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** David J. | Director, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 28, 2024

**What do you like best about Coderbyte?**

We hire new developers regularly and because we offer remote and global roles, we get hundreds of applications. Coderbyte is fantastic for sending technical screening tests to allow us to shortlist down to the very best. The tests are good quality and the 'cheating detection' feature really alows you to spot the best candidates.

**What do you dislike about Coderbyte?**

If there are any downsides, I would suggest better integration options to make it easier for us to match tests against the actual candidate in our applicant management platform.

**What problems is Coderbyte solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It means that we can judge candidates on their ability and remove bias from the process. Coderbyte's tests are thorough and there is a good variety.

It is quite evident that in today's market, business needs to build technologies at an exponential rate. With it, the ability to bring on qualified talent quickly to meet the demands while hitting target deadlines on time. Crucial to any Software Engineering manager is the ability to evaluate and test the engineer, but most of all, the ability to manage multiple job requisitions and their evaluation. We help build over 27 Applications in the U.S. with more clients coming to our Mission to build Nearshore Software Development Teams, https://www.fwscience.us , so at the very core of our business process, we have to rely on the best tools in the market. **Reviewed Date:** April 12, 2024

**What do you like best about Coderbyte?**

Easy for people, even without a tech background to understand the difficulty and types of tests to administer to candidates and to understand the skills.
Also has enough details for those who ARE technical to do a more intensive deep-dive into those skills.

The flexibile pricing plans and affordability of the plans is a huge plus.

**What do you dislike about Coderbyte?**

No complaints. Unsubscribed (with 2 clicks!) once we had filled the role we were looking at.

**What problems is Coderbyte solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Giving us a way to quantify someone's tech skills - gives us the ability to compare candidates 1:1.

 ### 44. One of the worst product we have used ever for evaluation

**Rating:** 0.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jagadeesh V. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 03, 2024

**What do you like best about Coderbyte?**

We used many platforms before deciding on one, but it was the only platform which was not at all useful.

**What do you dislike about Coderbyte?**

Features are very limited.
Support was not good.
Limited Customisation.
Couldn't use regularly due issues with applicaiton.
Couldn't integrate well with other softwares.
It was not easy to send invites and resend.
Setting up account and getting started was not smooth.
Tests were not specific to role as expected.
Waste of time and money.

**What problems is Coderbyte solving and how is that benefiting you?**

None

**Official Response from Nis Frome:**

> Your story doesn't add up.

Not at all useful? It's strange that you invited 30 admins and 100+ candidates to a tool that was not at all useful. Do you normally waste your organization's time like that?

Couldn't integrate well with other software? You didn't even enable the API key.

You might want to stay away from a keyboard and let professionals take it from here.

 ### 45. Good Tool

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Market Research | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 26, 2023

**What do you like best about Coderbyte?**

This allows employers to test candidates across a wide range of technical skills.

Customization Options: The ability to select and customize templates for different roles enables employers to tailor assessments to their specific needs, making it easier to identify the most qualified candidates.

Integrated Interview Tools: The live coding IDE, along with video and whiteboarding capabilities, provides a robust environment for conducting technical interviews. This setup facilitates a more interactive and revealing interview process.

**What do you dislike about Coderbyte?**

Overemphasis on Technical Skills: Relying heavily on technical assessments could potentially overlook other crucial skills like communication, teamwork, and problem-solving, which are also vital for many roles.

**What problems is Coderbyte solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It streamlines the candidate evaluation process by offering a comprehensive library of technical assessments across various programming languages and skills. This feature helps employers quickly and effectively screen candidates for specific technical competencies, reducing the time and resources spent on initial stages of hiring. Secondly, its integrated interview tools, including live coding environments and whiteboarding, enable a more interactive and insightful interview process. This aids in assessing not only technical skills but also problem-solving abilities and communication skills in a collaborative setting. Additionally, the platform's cheating prevention and detection measures ensure the integrity and reliability of the assessment process, boosting confidence in the evaluation outcomes. For non-technical recruiters, Coderbyte simplifies the task of assessing technical skills, while its flexibility in customization allows for tailoring assessments to specific job requirements. The net benefit is a more efficient, accurate, and comprehensive hiring process, leading to better quality hires and saving time and costs associated with lengthy or ineffective recruitment methods.

 ### 46. Good coding challenge tools

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Yu-Chi K. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 21, 2023

**What do you like best about Coderbyte?**

It's easy to setup and use. Also, I like the builtin question bank that I can just pick questions from.

**What do you dislike about Coderbyte?**

For coding challenges, the test cases are on the easier end -- I reviewed the code, and some of the wrong solutions can still get most of the scores.

Also, some question descriptions can be improved a little bit -- would be great if Coderbyte allows editing the coding question description.

**What problems is Coderbyte solving and how is that benefiting you?**

A quick and easy alternative for coding interviews -- instead of setting up a 45min~1hr coding interview for each candidate, I can just ask them to complete the challenge, and grade the code in 5 mins.

 ### 47. Did exactly what we needed it to do

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Software | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 08, 2024

**What do you like best about Coderbyte?**

Coderbyte is simple to use, straightforward, and does exactly what we needed it to do, which is to provide a colloborative coding environment for technical interviews.

**What do you dislike about Coderbyte?**

Nothing stands out, because like I said we just needed a colloborative coding environment for technical interviews and Coderbyte did that perfectly.

**What problems is Coderbyte solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We need a colloborative coding environment to facilitate technical interviews so that we can insure our candidates have the requisite skills to succeed in the open role(s).

 ### 48. Makes it easy for code assessments, but will they survive the Gen AI revolution?

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Nadim M. | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 06, 2023

**What do you like best about Coderbyte?**

We needed to run interviews and serve code assessments for quick candidate screening. Coderbyte helps you get the job done.
We didn't test all the features, like open ended assessments or behavioral questions since we already has a system in place for them, but the code feature was easy to setup and share.

**What do you dislike about Coderbyte?**

In the chatGPT era, it is very difficult to make a remote assessment to demonstrate the candidate's learnt and innate ability to solve a coding problem.

Nowadays I expect everytone to be using an assistant to help the code solution. While coderbyte does seem to have some anti cheat feature, we didn't find it particularly useful.

Instead of restricting the interviewee workspace UI, I'd suggest to expand it and let them google search and use chatGPT on the same site. It's much more useful to see how they search or prompt than to suddenly see a code being pasted.

In any case, this has still been useful as a binary gate for the code stage. Everyone is expected to pass and red flag those who don't.

**What problems is Coderbyte solving and how is that benefiting you?**

To run a quick code assessment during a technical interview

 ### 49. Got all what I want

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Manufacturing | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 14, 2024

**What do you like best about Coderbyte?**

* Good customer support
* Integrated google search inside the coding test
* ChatGPT plagiarism detection
* Cheap compared to other platform
* It has default stock questions for multi-choice question

**What do you dislike about Coderbyte?**

* The monthly bill is considered a bit expensive for a company based outside the U.S
* Lately, every time the page change (moving) the page come into a freeze state without loading screen
* Erasing candidate assesment withing 90 days after subcribtion cancelment
* Multi-choice question stock for some language is lacking

**What problems is Coderbyte solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Asses candidate's programming skill and help monitoring cheating indication

 ### 50. Simple but powerful tool

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Guillermo O. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 28, 2023

**What do you like best about Coderbyte?**

It's simplicity. You can pick the profile or skill you want to assess and it will make a proposal you can launch in minutes. At the end you can just trust what the systems suggest. Of course you have to review the results and use your own judgement to considert the candidates valid or not.

**What do you dislike about Coderbyte?**

As it's focused only on developers, it's been hard to implement in other departments, such as Product or Quality, who work very tightly with the developers.
There is also little capacity to deploy general rules to all the assessments, which is important when you have several process (or seniority levels) in parallel.

**What problems is Coderbyte solving and how is that benefiting you?**

For existing employers this helps streamlining the hiring process as it provides a simplified summary of the assessment to the interviewers before a proper interview.
