## Clip Studio Paint Reviews
  ### 1. A Gamer's Pal

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Percival F. | Owner, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 10, 2025

**What do you like best about Clip Studio Paint?**

I really love how many tools and options that their suite has, and how much I can customize the layout of the program to suit my ever-changing needs. The option for cloud back-ups offers such a feeling of reassurance, knowing my work will still be there if something happens to my machine or my drives. I also love how community oriented it is, with the ability to buy or even obtain free materials, brushes and more from other creative or generous users. After some time to get familiar with the program, it is very easy and natural to use! Installing Clip Studio Paint was super simple as well, implementing it was no problem. This is my daily-use art program.

**What do you dislike about Clip Studio Paint?**

I don't enjoy that a lot of the juicy features are stuck behind the more expensive license, and I really dislike the change from perpetual licenses to yearly subscriptions. I also heard about some AI involvement in the newer updates, and I really don;t love that. They should know better

**What problems is Clip Studio Paint solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Clip Studio Paint streamlines my artistic flow and makes producing art so much easier; the number of tools it has makes it so much easier to be creative.

  ### 2. A great fit for creatives looking for creative depth and a truly personalized workflow

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Education Management | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 05, 2025

**What do you like best about Clip Studio Paint?**

I really appreciate the ecosystem of downloadable tools—especially brushes and textures—directly accessible through the platform or linked sources. Customizing the workspace, from window layout to shortcuts is seamless. And the auto-save feature of Clip studio paint has saved my progress more than once.

**What do you dislike about Clip Studio Paint?**

Visually appealing, but many valuable tools are hidden and navigation isn’t intuitive for newcomers.

**What problems is Clip Studio Paint solving and how is that benefiting you?**

With Clip studio paint’s built-in tools and the freedom to experiment directly on the canvas I work more efficiently. My academic presentations are now more visually engaging—and far more effective as teaching tools.

  ### 3. I've spend 40 hours drawing the tattoo, and when I restarted my mac the files were not found anymore

**Rating:** 0.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Oleh P. | Artificial Intelegence Consultant, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 18, 2025

**What do you like best about Clip Studio Paint?**

Nothing that is beyond the basics. Higly overated product

**What do you dislike about Clip Studio Paint?**

Would never use this app again, you can't properly handle this basic operation correctly, really!?

**What problems is Clip Studio Paint solving and how is that benefiting you?**

none

  ### 4. Easy and professional drawing program

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** vinyl d. | Vinyl Production Manager, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 20, 2024

**What do you like best about Clip Studio Paint?**

I love CSP for its customizable artboard. You can really personalize it to be something only you know. It also holds similarities to photoshop and illustrator which I already have experience in so it works out for me.

**What do you dislike about Clip Studio Paint?**

Nothing, The have a great community and best thing of all is you only have to pay for it one time. You can get their premium version which is monthly but you dont have to, you have the option of a one time price, which is awesome.

**What problems is Clip Studio Paint solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Having the use of completely rigged 3d models for positioning and posing to help nail the idea in my head. also the pen sensitivity settings are very in depth, so I can get my drawing pen feeling just right.

  ### 5. Impressive Software

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Tofiq H. | Digital Artist, Design, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 29, 2023

**What do you like best about Clip Studio Paint?**

For me, Clip Studio Paint has unique pencil tools. I primarily use CSP for sketching and making clean lines. The Timelapse record option is an impressive feature that greatly aids me in recording my progress.

**What do you dislike about Clip Studio Paint?**

1. Lifetime license: It is not actually a lifetime license. You will be limited to version 2.0. To receive further updates, you need to subscribe monthly or annually.
2. Prior to the release of version 2, the previous versions worked smoothly on my laptop. However, since the release of the new version 2, I have been experiencing lag issues.

**What problems is Clip Studio Paint solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I have a future plan for a web-comic project. Clip Studio Paint offers great features for manga/comic creators.

  ### 6. I love Clip Studio Paint

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Marie-Claire P. | Digital Abstract NFT Artist , Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 27, 2023

**What do you like best about Clip Studio Paint?**

I love all the features Clip Studio Paint offers, some of the features I love are the 3d models and all the assets that are free to use, also I love to accumulate clippy coins to get more Clip Studio Assets. I also love the Clip Studio Tips and The Contests offered by the company.

**What do you dislike about Clip Studio Paint?**

What I dislike is that the software is a bit heavy to run, it would be very useful to create a lite version of it, with as many features as the original version provides.

**What problems is Clip Studio Paint solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Clip Studio solves a huge issue that is to have an art software that offers a one time payment, and also includes many professional features for creating art masterpieces. I feel that Clip Studio is a very good alternative to subscription payment options.

  ### 7. Design on the Go!

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Kevin O. | Artist, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 24, 2023

**What do you like best about Clip Studio Paint?**

This is for my Samsung Galaxy Tablet S7. It is my art and design studio on the go. It was an affordable program, the Samsung version of Procreate for Apple, and the reason I got my tablet. I can create wall-sized art in high resolution if I want. But what I like most is I have the access to the S Pen by Samsung and can create anything I want on my tablet. It is like Photoshop, GIMP, Inkspace, Krita, and more all rolled into one! I can create art anywhere in the world with just a tablet.

**What do you dislike about Clip Studio Paint?**

I had watched many videos about Procreate and how to design anything I wanted and in the videos, the program is so seemingly simple and the features are phenomenal. In this program, Clip Studio Paint, it has a lot more capabilities but that is what makes it so difficult. I have used it for almost a year and I am still learning. In one way it is like all the applications of all the art programs I have all together but clutters up the screen. I know the program well but there is so much to choose from and that makes the text and menu smaller to read.

**What problems is Clip Studio Paint solving and how is that benefiting you?**

My Lenovo desktop AIO beast of a touchscreen computer is loaded with art programs but they never had the right pen available because it is a gaming laptop. I got that because of the 4K and a 24-inch screen. I could never draw on the screen unless I used a mouse, which is not always easy. My Galaxy Tab having the S Pen solves that problem. I have a digital, working pen! I can design on the tablet and send the file to my computer and do what I van on a larger screen that requires only a mouse. It is all about that pen!

  ### 8. Lifetime license? yeah right.

**Rating:** 1.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Rogelio A. | CEO, Information Technology and Services, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 28, 2021

**What do you like best about Clip Studio Paint?**

The flow, the brushes, the canvas, the export options. Clip Studio even lets you animate having everything on a single screen.
You can create a whole comic and export to platforms directly or design for a print.
Clip Studio also has a whole set of brushes and they have a market where you can buy brushes created by artists who really use them. They have regular webinars where you can interact with artists and you can be amazed on how different each one of them uses this software to create amazing things.
You can draw in vector and correct the whole drawing without having to re-draw.

**What do you dislike about Clip Studio Paint?**

You can't export drawings in SVG. You can draw in vector but can't do anything further with it. If you want to create an SVG, this isn't for you.

Updated: Clipstudio recently decided not to fulfill the lifetime license. So now they decided to hold the Clipstudio version 2 and if you want to use it, you have to go into a subscription business model as Adobe. If you upgrade to version 2 and for some reason you don't keep paying, you must uninstall everything and downgrade to version 1.

This is a dishonest way of doing business. I paid 300$ for that lifetime license. This is not good.

**What problems is Clip Studio Paint solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It solves every problem I experienced with similar softwares before. It is really easy to use, easy to understand, easy to start using.
You can jump from format to format and clipstudio helps you during the whole process like keeping the frames/boxes when you are making a comic for example and it is aimed for professionals but a beginner like me felt welcomed.
This is for version 1 only.

  ### 9. Amazing tool for drawing!

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Stephanie L. | UX Designer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 30, 2023

**What do you like best about Clip Studio Paint?**

Has many features similar to photoshop and paint tool sai with an added bonus of a community page brushes and 3d models

**What do you dislike about Clip Studio Paint?**

Only some people use Clip Studio Paint, and not collaborative-friendly. You'd have to convert your file to another program for another person to look at or edit the file.

**What problems is Clip Studio Paint solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Clip Studio is great for creating anything from illustrations to graphic novels/webtoons to animations. With their community page available for everyone, users can upload or download brush sets, backgrounds, colour palettes and etc, for their personal use.

  ### 10. A Versatile Illustration App That's Perfect for Beginners and Pros

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Education Management | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 09, 2022

**What do you like best about Clip Studio Paint?**

I love how easy it is to access all of the tools, brushes, poses, and many other items within the main panel. Everything is just a click away, and the best part is that it still doesn't feel crowded. I think that the pre-sized pencil brushes are also a great idea because it means less fiddling around so that more time can be focused on actually creating the art.

**What do you dislike about Clip Studio Paint?**

Clip Paint Studio has moved to the subscription-based model, which I'm definitely not a fan of. That being said, I try to look past this issue only because of the great tools the application provides to help beginner artists create beautiful art.

**What problems is Clip Studio Paint solving and how is that benefiting you?**

One of the features that I love the most is their poseable mannequin-like models. They act as a great reference when I'm trying to draw human figures, and having the ability to adjust the poses is a bonus. This is something you don't see that often in other illustration software.

  ### 11. Clip Studio tools always gives you your the desired looked.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Shem E. | Animator, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 10, 2021

**What do you like best about Clip Studio Paint?**

The most helpful thing that caught my attention was how many brushes were available for my use. Yes, other drawing software offers brushes, but the difference with clip studio was the brushes they provided were so similar to what you would find in a traditional setting.

**What do you dislike about Clip Studio Paint?**

A few default keyboard shortcut keys for clipstudio was difficult to figure out at first. This led me to going into the settings to change it to what am most comfortable with. The second issue I encountered is clip studio animation timeline is very difficult to use if you dont have a guide to show you how it works. The animation timeline is not user friendly which will not allow you to easliy figure out how to work with it.

**Recommendations to others considering Clip Studio Paint:**

If you're looking for tools that give you any artistic look you desire, give this software a try, I promise you won't be disappointed with what you find.

**What problems is Clip Studio Paint solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Having brush and pencil tools that mimicked the look of the physical counterpart, made it easy for me to produce a specific traditional look to my drawings without having to go through all the tediousness of having to figure how the look I want in the edit tools section. Having it readily available to me saved me time when it was time to work.

  ### 12. The best alternative for illustration against Adobe, for the one-time!

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** RODRIGO IGNACIO S. | Artist (I guess)., Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 29, 2021

**What do you like best about Clip Studio Paint?**

One is accessibility. It's got an interface similar to Photoshop but less cluttered and more down-to-earth for illustration and the best pen engine and stabilizer I've felt in ages. The second is performance; it's been steadily beating Photoshop's consumption rate on my pc, even running in one with four gigabytes of ram, which is impressive. After that comes the pricing, accessible as well, at 50 for illustration, and 220 for the more premium experience, bundled with animation software built-in.

**What do you dislike about Clip Studio Paint?**

There are things that I dislike, and for the most part, it has to do with the animation side of the software, where I would love for it to expand further. That and making saving slightly faster, in that regard, it's matched one to one with Adobe's overpriced PH square, being relatively slow if you have a lot of layers on your project.

**What problems is Clip Studio Paint solving and how is that benefiting you?**

A ton, but it's relatively hard to explain just what problems and benefits I've realized without saying to anyone 'see for yourself.'

  ### 13. Great drawing program with a community that shares brushes, skills, and more

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Marketing and Advertising | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 19, 2021

**What do you like best about Clip Studio Paint?**

I love the quick perspective tools in clip studio paint, I believe it's like no other program. I also love that there are so many free brush packages out there available to artist

**What do you dislike about Clip Studio Paint?**

Industry wise photoshop and illustrator are preferred over clip so there are times when I don't use it and to relearn the program takes some time

**Recommendations to others considering Clip Studio Paint:**

Try actually connecting with people in the community so far everyone has been really nice. I suggest playing around in the program first before trying anything complicated

**What problems is Clip Studio Paint solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Drawing quick boards or comics is super easy in clip studio. The benefits of this program I would said is its supportive community

  ### 14. Great software for any level artist

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Scruffs O. | COPE Instructor, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 30, 2020

**What do you like best about Clip Studio Paint?**

Very user friendly application, with intuitive tools and options. The software also offers a wide array of available options that gives you the best possibility for success from your work.

**What do you dislike about Clip Studio Paint?**

It takes some time to figure out all the different tools within the application, as well as the best options for the specific technique you want to use, and there are no great tutorials on how to do so.

**Recommendations to others considering Clip Studio Paint:**

If you are looking to use Clip Studio Paint, I would suggest using their tutorial system on their website as it can be difficult to understand how to use tools in relation to each other.

**What problems is Clip Studio Paint solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Clip Studio Paint has allowed me to both grow my art, as well as design different things for my start-up and allowed me to grow my arsenal of images. The Software allows me to create and design anything that I may need to publish.

  ### 15. The Perfect Illustration Software

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Simon L. | Junior Art Director, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 19, 2021

**What do you like best about Clip Studio Paint?**

Clip Studio Paint has a whole suite of features that are unique to it and that help speed up and simplify the illustration process tremendously. This ranges from features like vector lineart, which feel no different from drawing bitmap lineart, but can be adjusted in weight or easily bent and repositioned without losing quality, to things like a sub view menu which lets you immediately pick colors from reference images. Every part of Clip Studio Paint feels like it was designed with artists and mind, and the list of features grows steadily.

**What do you dislike about Clip Studio Paint?**

The one area where Clip Studio Paint needs improvement, is its font support. It would be great to be able to have alternate glyphs available for handwritten fonts that feature this option for a more natural, handwritten look.

**Recommendations to others considering Clip Studio Paint:**

If you ever struggle with any aspect of using Clip Studio Paint, there is a whole wealth of tutorials available on their tips website. Some of those are mine! ;)

**What problems is Clip Studio Paint solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I am able to create comics for both print and Webtoon with Clip Studio Paint, as well as regular illustrations for client work. I am able to complete every step of the process where previously I used a combination of Photoshop and openCanvas to achieve this.

  ### 16. One-stop-shop for visual designers!

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Alesia “Pom” H. | Freelance Artist, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 25, 2021

**What do you like best about Clip Studio Paint?**

My favorite feature is the Assets Store on the landing page when opening Clip Studio Paint

**What do you dislike about Clip Studio Paint?**

I dislike that I'm unlikely to try out different software for producing art. This software really does have anything you can imagine when it comes to design.

**What problems is Clip Studio Paint solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I can afford to save money with the unlimited resources Clip Studio Paint provides. From downloading assets to viewing tutorials, this is the best!

  ### 17. Amazing software for illustration and comic book creation

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Monique K. | Social Media Manager and Retoucher, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 05, 2020

**What do you like best about Clip Studio Paint?**

Clip Studio Paint makes illustrations very easy even for a beginner. Tools are very self explanatory. There is a tool to make every job easy, unlike adobe illustrator which has a steep learning curve.

**What do you dislike about Clip Studio Paint?**

You have to download stock images/wallpapers from the cloud and it does not always work. sometimes tools and things stop working and you have to figure out what the issue is on your own. not good customer support for this program.

**Recommendations to others considering Clip Studio Paint:**

I strongly recommend Clip Studio Paint to all levels of illustrators, even the novice.

**What problems is Clip Studio Paint solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I am able to draw and format comics with ease with this program. It makes your work very clean and professional with ease. it has all the functions of adobe products but with less of a learning curve.

  ### 18. This program is a scam

**Rating:** 0.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** mychal a. | Shopify Support Guru, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 23, 2020

**What do you like best about Clip Studio Paint?**

I bought a license for thier program and NEVER received the license yet they took my $99 and when I complained and asked for my license they didnt even address my request. They just noted that since I canceled the service (it expires NEXT YEAR) that they didnt need to give me my license! Even though I paid for it for a year!! The customer service is terrible. The automated pay system doesnt deliver the product that you pay for. Its a terrible company. Dont buy!!!! I repeat! DO NOT BUY!!!!

**What do you dislike about Clip Studio Paint?**

You havent provided me anything but a headache since I spent money on this waste of time. Nothing has been worth this hassle.

**Recommendations to others considering Clip Studio Paint:**

Stay away!! The customer service is terrible. The starting process is confusing and does not work properly. They took my money and NEVER gave me my license so I could start using it and then treated me like they provided me with assistance when they did NOT. Avoid this company. They are not good!

**What problems is Clip Studio Paint solving and how is that benefiting you?**

None. You created more problems than you solved.

  ### 19. I use this software almost

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Eddy H. | Business Owner, Animator and Illustrator, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 31, 2020

**What do you like best about Clip Studio Paint?**

It's a software with to many utilities for animation, illustration, design, comic, 3d, and has a really cheap subscription price.

**What do you dislike about Clip Studio Paint?**

That don't have an option to hear the sound in the animation without push the "play" button

**Recommendations to others considering Clip Studio Paint:**

Its a really good software, easy to learn and cheap, you can try a demo version before buy the software.

**What problems is Clip Studio Paint solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I can make drawings and animate them in the same software.

  ### 20. Not the worst

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Scott J. | Freelance Project Manager, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 14, 2019

**What do you like best about Clip Studio Paint?**

The processes in this are more streamlined than in GIMP and KRITA, probably the two closest programs (though both cost nothing). So overall less laggy, and handles large resolution files well (e.g. >20k pixel h/w at >300 dpi).

However this is very much so for drawing and can't really be compared to Photoshop. Photoshop is capable of a lot more, generally speaking, in regards to photo manipulation and creating text effects; however there are more manga-centric and publishing features (the extensive screentone support comes to mind) in Clip Studio. If you're going purely for traditional non-vector illustration this program is probably about as good as it gets.

Also, there is the advantage of Clip Studio costing a one time fee vs Photoshop's subscription payment system.

**What do you dislike about Clip Studio Paint?**

The biggest weakness with this program compared especially to GIMP and KRITA is the clunky home screen UI, which shows news updates / recent art / promotions / mostly useless stuff. I don't believe it can be disabled or even really customized.

Also, the program creates a system settings file folder right in My Documents that cannot be moved or edited in any way. You should just make it invisible...no idea why they chose to do this.

**What problems is Clip Studio Paint solving and how is that benefiting you?**

With a left hand controller and a drawing tablet you can really power through illustrations.

  ### 21. Great Mainstrream Alternative

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Andre S. | Artist, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 25, 2019

**What do you like best about Clip Studio Paint?**

After years of using Photoshop, I made the switch to CSP a bit ago. I'm glad I did it. The lack of a subscription alone is enough to convince me it's a great product. It feels like a hybrid of Photshop and Sai, for those familiar with it.

**What do you dislike about Clip Studio Paint?**

The UI is a bit ugly and seems clearly optimized for Japanese, and not English. There is strange wording throughout the program. It looks dated. I wish it had a sleeker, more professional look like Photoshop does. But functionality makes Clip Studio an essential for me.

**Recommendations to others considering Clip Studio Paint:**

Definitely look into Frenden Brushes as a supplement to drawing and painting in CSP.

**What problems is Clip Studio Paint solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Filling lineart is so much easier than in Photoshop. Selecting edges is also easier, as well as converting lineart from a scan into a transparent layer. Drawing feels smoother and easier, and less difficult to control than Photoshop, which I suspect is because of their different pressure sensitivity algorithms.

  ### 22. This is MUST HAVE Software for a comic artist

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Roger W. | BDR, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 31, 2019

**What do you like best about Clip Studio Paint?**

The simplicity. Functions that took multiple complex steps in PS are executable in a single button.
Repeatable tasks are mapable.
Animation.
It has it all.

**What do you dislike about Clip Studio Paint?**

truly, if I had one complaint here it would be on the lack of key tutorials doing precisely the task I am trying to accomplish.
Sometimes I have a very specific need and there is ZERO information on how to accomplish said task. Tutorials are basic and don't always cover what I need.
I find the solution through trial and error most times.

**Recommendations to others considering Clip Studio Paint:**

This is literally the best money you can spend as a comic artist

**What problems is Clip Studio Paint solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I still work in pen and ink, scanning into the comp to color and letter.
This software is ideal for that application.

  ### 23. Digital Artist Review

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Arts and Crafts | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 14, 2019

**What do you like best about Clip Studio Paint?**

What I like best about CSP is how user friendly it is to new and more experienced artists. The way it's design is more for the digital artist with fluid flawless designs in brushes, how easy it is to adjust each brush and set up new custom brushes for what you can use. It's very light weight on any system even older systems

The best quality for CSP is the community. It's world wide and if you have a question or concern it's not difficult to find someone in an art community to help figure something out.

**What do you dislike about Clip Studio Paint?**

What I dislike about CSP is literally only one thing and that's the lack of Liquify (a Photoshop filter) as sometimes it's needed and having to switch over to PS to use this is frustrating.

**Recommendations to others considering Clip Studio Paint:**

When considering CSP I would really look into how you want your own art to go. If you're strictly digital art I would highly suggest it for all levels of artists, beginning and experienced, and to look over the vast versatility it offers for anime, manga, painted texture art, animation, line and chibi art as well as realism. You can create any sort of art with this program without much if any limitations at all.

**What problems is Clip Studio Paint solving and how is that benefiting you?**

With my business there aren't any problem's it's solved per say; it has however made work flow quite nice and fluid.

  ### 24. Clip Studio Paint- Best All-Around

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Megan F. | Freelance Artist, Design, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 11, 2018

**What do you like best about Clip Studio Paint?**

CSP has a very wide range of abilities, from drawing and painting to comics, storyboarding and photo editing, to the newest addition of animation. There’s also an iPad app and transferring files between iPad and computer is easy.

**What do you dislike about Clip Studio Paint?**

I don’t like the subscription for the iPad app; I wish I could just buy it outright or even use the software key I got with my desktop application. Their support site is decent but i would also love some more solid English translation as much is still in Japanese. I would also like an option to work in cmyk. The text tool is also a little difficult to use.

**What problems is Clip Studio Paint solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I produce commissions ranging from digital paintings to logo and cover designs, and I really like that I can execute these images from start to finish without any other programs for the most part. It’s a great cheap alternative to photoshop if you primarily paint or illustrate.

  ### 25. Best Program Ever

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Arts and Crafts | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 04, 2019

**What do you like best about Clip Studio Paint?**

This program allows you to do animation and still use all of the functionality of the painting tools. I absolutely adore that you can import brushes so easily, and that there are so many available on the program's website.

**What do you dislike about Clip Studio Paint?**

It isn't very intuitive at first and it takes a bit to find all of the different tools.

**What problems is Clip Studio Paint solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I can work wherever I want with Clip Studio Paint on my ipad. The biggest benefit is that it has helped my creativity and production time.

  ### 26. The underrated hero

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** tarida a. | Visual Artist, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 13, 2019

**What do you like best about Clip Studio Paint?**

As someone on a budget, it is cost effective. But at the same time the effectiveness of the program is not compromised. Also, a very easy to use interface. Having work in Photoshop for years, using Clip Studio is a breeze.

**What do you dislike about Clip Studio Paint?**

The only thing I am not pleased with is that when my computer died on me for some reason I was unable to transfer my old license to my new computer. That being said the product is so good that, frustration aside, I am going to purchase it again.

**Recommendations to others considering Clip Studio Paint:**

Buy it and enjoy.

**What problems is Clip Studio Paint solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The ability to download this product for a reasonable price and then be able to have many of the same painting features as Photoshop is amazing. I actually prefer painting in Clip Studio due to the ease of use. When you are using the program "everything make sense". Great brushes (the oil brush and the G-pen are personal favorites)

  ### 27. Amazing tool for drawing in general, not only manga

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Gabriela L. | Designer gráfico, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 19, 2018

**What do you like best about Clip Studio Paint?**

The presets brushes and how easy is to install new brushes, panels can be detached and easily rearranged, buttons for rotation, flip and reset are easy to be found, a useful tool to create manga and comics, easy to learn how to use, never had a performance issue.

**What do you dislike about Clip Studio Paint?**

I've been using for little more than a year, and I didn't found something I truly dislike, but there are few tools I don't use, the option to load assets such as 3d objects is one of those.

**Recommendations to others considering Clip Studio Paint:**

If you are new to digital illustration and are in doubt of what program to use, I recommend Clip Studio Paint. The brushes in this program are phenomenal, and I found quite easy to learn. You also have lots of tutorials online on how to use.

**What problems is Clip Studio Paint solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use Clip Studio Paint to practice in my spare time, to create sketches as a draft for clients and illustrations.

  ### 28. An amazing but pricy art software

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Halo K. | Freelance Artist, Fine Art, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 25, 2019

**What do you like best about Clip Studio Paint?**

I think what i like best about this program is that there are amazing brushes and that it's easy to learn how to use. I also really love that there are even more brushes created by the community that use this program (a lot free to utilize), and that you get a good, in depth free trial of this program.

**What do you dislike about Clip Studio Paint?**

I think what i really dislike about this program is the big price (mainly because I'm very broke) and that it kind of lags on my old computer, but other than that, the price is actually a lot better than some of the other more professional programs out there that i've tried before and bought. I also dislike the fact that it takes a bit to boot up on my computer (although that could be my own hardware issues but...)

**Recommendations to others considering Clip Studio Paint:**

Take your time, use the free trial, and experiment, like with any other art program. Experiment with new brushes, and other programs and you'll see that this program really stacks up against others.

**What problems is Clip Studio Paint solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I think one of the business problems that clip studio paint solves is having a more professional program to use for my art commissions that is less expensive than other art programs (and that it doesn't charge monthly, only a one time charge.)
I think some benefits of this program is having others that use this program that are also fairly fluent in it, and there's a lot of help for it.

  ### 29. A Drawing and Painting Application - Best for Artistic Persons

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Aahana S. | Digital Marketing Specialist, Printing, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 27, 2018

**What do you like best about Clip Studio Paint?**

Clip Studio Paint tool has plenty of illustration tools, this application includs various options like paint brushes, vector tools, etc.
It is one of the less expensive version of Clip Studio Paint EX. The Pro version of the application provides a number of animation tools as well as the desktop publishing tools which helps to organize the comics. The comic software part gives several drawing and painting tools to which gives a professional variation effects for the comic stories. According to me, this is perfect application for the artist and a great option especially for all the comic artists or beginner artists like me.

**What do you dislike about Clip Studio Paint?**

Unlike the EX version, The Clip Studio Paint Tool does not provide the story functions through which one can easily manage and create multiple pages in one file only. I have used this application less than a year in my previous company, and to be very honest, I didn't found anything which I dislike...

**Recommendations to others considering Clip Studio Paint:**

I have used this application less than a year in my previous company, and to be very honest, I didn't found anything yet. But, whenever I start using it again, I will surely get back and my recommendations.

**What problems is Clip Studio Paint solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Clip Studio Paint appication is an affordable software which gives an access for creating the impressive drawing and layout tools.
Generally, I used Clip Studio Paint to practice whenever I got extra time out of my official work, I tried create sketches as a draft for clients and illustrations...

  ### 30. The standard for comics and illustration

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Design | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 03, 2019

**What do you like best about Clip Studio Paint?**

Just works great. Very smooth drawing. iPad app is excellent, and you can sync projects between your iPad and computer with Clip Studio

**What do you dislike about Clip Studio Paint?**

Not that many brushes available out of the box. Lacks some of the functionality of Photoshop.

**What problems is Clip Studio Paint solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I do pretty much all my illustration in CSP. From sketches all the way to finished pieces.

  ### 31. Clip Studio Paint does what it claims excellently: comics, animation, and graphic illustrations

**Rating:** 3.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Graphic Design | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 24, 2019

**What do you like best about Clip Studio Paint?**

I enjoy how versatile this program is! With it, I've been able to experiment with new projects like animation. This program really appealed to me as someone who first got their passion for art and designing from reading manga. This program has screen-tones equipped, a perspective ruler, 3d models, and panel design. I also appreciate them keeping the upgrade price from PRO to EX the same, so if you buy the cheaper one, it won't cost extra if you decide to upgrade later.

**What do you dislike about Clip Studio Paint?**

Although I appreciate the upgrade price, I do suppose the pricing itself is steep. A company reserves the right to put a price on their patented technology, but I do think you can find other cheaper programs with similar functions. Clip Studio Paint is not as expensive as Photoshop, but the price of over 200 dollars is still a big investment for most artists, especially when all of the tools can be found in other programs, with a little effort to search.

**Recommendations to others considering Clip Studio Paint:**

I would say if you are an Illustrator, graphic novel artist, animator, and/or have been eyeing an art program with painting mechanics and can afford the budget in between Photoshop and Paint Tool Sai, this program is worth a look.

**What problems is Clip Studio Paint solving and how is that benefiting you?**

With these extended tools than something you'd get from Photoshop or Sai, I've been able to extend my skills and breadth to offer clients. If they need a short animation, I can use this program to animate much faster than I'd have to in Photoshop. Even for classic Illustration and logo design. I've found the ruler to be extremely helpful.

  ### 32. Why clip studio rocks.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** MASTER B. | Cartoonist, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 07, 2019

**What do you like best about Clip Studio Paint?**

the best feature of clip studio is the modular work space. It really allows you to customize everything.

**What do you dislike about Clip Studio Paint?**

not enough power over 3d items. It would be cool to be able to make props in the same program.

**Recommendations to others considering Clip Studio Paint:**

you won't be disappointed in trying clip studio.

**What problems is Clip Studio Paint solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Easy way to make comics

  ### 33. Exceptional results and interface

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Kyle G. | Character Designer, Entertainment, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 28, 2017

**What do you like best about Clip Studio Paint?**

The ink lines on screen are the best of any design art program I use. The blending and painting brushes are smooth with almost no lag and give great results.

**What do you dislike about Clip Studio Paint?**

I wish the triangle and circle templates/guidelines were easier to use between layers. You have to constantly select and deselect the guides to use them or not. This is where Sketchbook pro has a leg up on Clip Studio Paint. The guidelines are a bit buried in the tool set as well.

**Recommendations to others considering Clip Studio Paint:**

Make sure that your needs are the right ones for this program. It is directly a drawing and painting program for comics but I find it has so many uses for the illustration field.

**What problems is Clip Studio Paint solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I am a freelance artist/character designer for the animation industry and this program is one of the best for getting ideas down quickly and clearly for my clients. The interaction between Clip Studio Paint and Photoshop is wonderful. Layers carry over and file types are easy to select when saving.

  ### 34. Clip Studio Paint - the all-in-one drawing package

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Ben H. | Freelance painter, Telecommunications, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 12, 2017

**What do you like best about Clip Studio Paint?**

Clip Studio Paint is the best drawing software I've ever used. I've used plenty of other art programs in the past, Paint Tool Sai, Photoshop, Sketchbook, OpenCanvas etc, but they all pale in comparison to CSP. First of all it's cheap, the regular version (which is almost identical to the EX version, apart from extra comic project file support and unlimited animation frames) costs around $50, and it regularly goes on sale for anything as low as $15. The amount of functionality you get is crazy, and since it's designed with artists in mind, there's no bloat or unnecessary features like you'd find in other software such as Photoshop. It has all the staple art software elements, layers, colour palettes, customizable brushes, canvas flipping and rotation, preview/navigation window, layer/selection transformation etc. It also has more specific features, like pen stabilization, vector drawing tools that look identical to their raster counterparts, comic tools for adding frames, speech bubbles and text, and it even has 3D mannequins that you can pose and use for reference/drawing over. The 3D feature even allows you to import your own models, which can be extremely helpful when you want to build a complex scene with accurate perspective etc. Overall it's just a great piece of software which has been designed from the ground up with artists in mind, I use it almost daily and I highly recommend it for anyone who wants to get into digital art.

**What do you dislike about Clip Studio Paint?**

The western version (distributed by Trend Micro) is called Manga Studio, so this is pretty confusing for people and can end up with them not being sure which version to buy. Thankfully they're exactly the same, but these days you can get an English version of Clip Studio Paint from the original website, which I think is the better choice as this will always be the latest version. The western release is usually a bit behind on their versions.

**Recommendations to others considering Clip Studio Paint:**

If you're on the fence about it, grab the trial version from the website and give it a go!

**What problems is Clip Studio Paint solving and how is that benefiting you?**

As a freelance artist in the past, I have relied on this software extensively to get the job done. I've used it for sketching, illustration, painting and even some design work.

  ### 35. Great for illustration

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Nick R. | 3D Character Animator, Animation, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 17, 2017

**What do you like best about Clip Studio Paint?**

Clip studio is my current go-to software for drawing and illustration. It combines useful drawing tools with a decent set of editable brushes and also useful layout tools for comics and other formats. It also has great editing and adjustment tools, I make use of the colour/level corrections and gradient mapping a lot and clip studio makes this sort of thing quite easy. It also includes a reasonable selection of textures and even incorporates 3d reference models, although possibly not in way that many will find genuinely useful as a day-to-day tool.

**What do you dislike about Clip Studio Paint?**

The interface could be better. Although the modular format of the interface works well, it can sometimes be difficult to have everything you need easily accesible. The worst part for me would be the animation capabilities. As an animator, I would love to be able to use this software for animation as well as illustration but in practice the interface is very un-intuitive and lacks basic functions for moving around keys and in-betweens as you would find in specific animation software, such as tv paint.

**Recommendations to others considering Clip Studio Paint:**

I would recommend clip studio paint as a great all-purpose digital illustration program.

**What problems is Clip Studio Paint solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I'm using this software to create and edit illustrations.

  ### 36. Perfect for personal and professional use.

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Ingrid M. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 20, 2018

**What do you like best about Clip Studio Paint?**

- Color Wheel
- Dozens of color tone presets
- Native stabilization and Anti-Aliasing option
- Screentones
- Easy to blend colors
- Clean interface

**What do you dislike about Clip Studio Paint?**

- Not good with vectors
- Intimidating at first
- The 3d feature needs improvement

**Recommendations to others considering Clip Studio Paint:**

If you need a program for sketching, or you are making a manga or comics, I recommend Clip Studio Paint. This software has all the tools required to create a professional looking product, and it is perfect for those who are starting with digital sketching.

**What problems is Clip Studio Paint solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use to make designs for t-shirts and to sketch character concept.

  ### 37. Fantastic Comic Illustration Software for an Excellent Price

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Troy J. | Owner / Designer, Graphic Design, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 03, 2017

**What do you like best about Clip Studio Paint?**

Clip Studio's digital pencil and inking tools are hands down the best I have ever used. The dialed in settings provide a wonderful balance between control and usability thanks partly to the powerful, yet subtle, stroke smoothing. Vector layers also provide the ability to scale or edit strokes in a very controlled and non-destructive way. All of this is available for a tiny fraction of the cost of the standard Photoshop package.

**What do you dislike about Clip Studio Paint?**

While the sketch and ink tools are outstanding, the other painting and blending brushes are less enjoyable to use and do not provide nearly the variety possible in something like Photoshop. The interface is also a bit overwhelming initially, with many buttons or icons not providing very intuitive descriptions for their uses.

**Recommendations to others considering Clip Studio Paint:**

Primarily designed with comic creation in mind, the sketching and inking tools are perfectly suited for comic artists. If you've been using Photoshop for this, it is definitely worth giving Clip Studio a try for its industry specific tools

**What problems is Clip Studio Paint solving and how is that benefiting you?**

For idea sketching or simply sketching for enjoyment, I have found nothing better. The ability to create sharp inked lines (even scale-able vectored lines) is a huge time saver in my workflow.

  ### 38. A powerful tool for digital painting.

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Adeline D. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 16, 2018

**What do you like best about Clip Studio Paint?**

The design is simple yet beautiful, brush settings are not too complicated, has built-in stabilization, the ruler has multiple options, has beautiful pre-installed decoration brushes and combines well with cheap drawing tablets.

**What do you dislike about Clip Studio Paint?**

It's slow to load some features, some tools are hard to use and vector needs improvement,

**Recommendations to others considering Clip Studio Paint:**

If you considering using this program, I recommend first to try the free trial. I also recommend using this program with a drawing tablet, this way you'll use the full potential of the program.

**What problems is Clip Studio Paint solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use the program when I need to create a character to place on a website.

  ### 39. One of the greatest tools on the market.

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Bruna A. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 24, 2018

**What do you like best about Clip Studio Paint?**

Easy to navigate and use, brushes don't have unnecessary parameters to edit, you can easily rotate and flip the canvas, multiple rulers options, and you can place and pose 3d character and objects.

**What do you dislike about Clip Studio Paint?**

Some features and tools are not self-explanatory, and the vector could be improved.

**Recommendations to others considering Clip Studio Paint:**

Clip Studio Paint is one of the easiest programs to learn how to use, within a few days, you can start making incredible artworks, and since they offer a free trial, you can test Clip Studio Paint for 30 days to see if all your needs are fulfilled.

**What problems is Clip Studio Paint solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use Clip Studio Paint to create illustrations, character design and to color line art made with Illustrator.

**What do you like best about Clip Studio Paint?**

The different type of brushes helps me create a more real digital painting/drawing.

**What do you dislike about Clip Studio Paint?**

It need more templates for it's United States users. I find most the good addons for this application are overseas.

**Recommendations to others considering Clip Studio Paint:**

This app is for you inspiraing artist! It's better than PaintShop Pro, make the switch today!

**What problems is Clip Studio Paint solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I am to recreate oil painting styles without the struggles of messing up expensive material. It saves my progress, it removes my mistakes easily and i can create templates to edit later of the same drawing.

  ### 41. Clip Studio

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Primary/Secondary Education | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 30, 2017

**What do you like best about Clip Studio Paint?**

I like the easy access to brushes and other tools. Use of program is straightforward and easy and there is a nice flow to the layout. Brushes feel smooth to use with stylus and make for excellent detail. pressure on brushes feels good and smooth and I feel that I am able to obtain the detail and thickness I need in my linework.

**What do you dislike about Clip Studio Paint?**

I wish there were more filter options along with decorative designs but overall excellent program.

**Recommendations to others considering Clip Studio Paint:**

I would really recommend this program to others either starting out in digital design or those that have more experience. It is easy to use but has excellent features for all levels.

**What problems is Clip Studio Paint solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Clip studio makes digital design quicker and easier, which makes making designs more efficient time wise without sacrificing quality.

  ### 42. Program that has everything

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Design | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 08, 2017

**What do you like best about Clip Studio Paint?**

It has brushes of all sizes and pressures as well as references and free brushes downloads for artists to use. It's very comprehensive on how to manipulate brushes to make rendering very smoothly as well as comic elements for inking and coloring.

**What do you dislike about Clip Studio Paint?**

The only thing I dislike is that it has so much it's hard to use and it's hard to understand what each part does unless it's practiced with every day.

**Recommendations to others considering Clip Studio Paint:**

Just buy it! It's worth every penny!

**What problems is Clip Studio Paint solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Inking comics, rendering and coloring characters and settings as well as animation. It has benefited me to complete my projects without crashing as well.

  ### 43. Nice Inexpensive Alternative to Ps

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Events Services | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 18, 2017

**What do you like best about Clip Studio Paint?**

Has a very similar interface to Photoshop but more designed for comics and sketching. This is best used for getting quick ideas out. Obviously also I would say more web comics. The fact that the program is fairly easy to use is a plus, but I wouldn't really use this for professional final printed work. I love the different line pressures as well, this is a huge plus.

**What do you dislike about Clip Studio Paint?**

I'm not a fan of the resolution it uses. Also the anti-aliasing is non existent. That was very bothersome for me.

**What problems is Clip Studio Paint solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Creating thumbnails, getting quick ideas laid out. Also, I am designing a comic book so this helps.

  ### 44. A game-changer experience

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** David F. | Diseñador/Ilustrador, Graphic Design, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 02, 2016

**What do you like best about Clip Studio Paint?**

CELSYS advertise CSP as a "stándard tool for manga artists", but it's actually much more than that. It doesn't only include very powerful tools for doing clean lines, add text bubbles, grayscale tones, panels and cell-shading coloring but also has amazing sets of brushes that enhance your possibilities simulating real-life painting (watercolor and oil, to be specific).

Plus, CSP was developed by thinking on the professional user first and foremost, so it includes the most essential editing tools that I couldn't find in SAI, which I migrated from and which I had to use Photoshop with just to get some simple things like text done, but not anymore now that I have CSP which have it all packed in one single place. Let alone other not-essential and very VERY powerful tools like the perspective tools which is just AMAZING for doing concept art and background painting.

For last, I have to tell you about the Animation features, which prevents me to open another application any time I want to do animated frames for my game sprites, which is big, BIG PLUS for me. Before it, my typical workflow was this: Draw frames sketch in Photoshop > Export > Import into SAI/CSP just so I can paint them > Export > Import again in Premiere and After Effects just so I can join them and add effects. Not anymore now that I have CSP, it's enough to draw, paint and export all the frames in CSP and maybe I'll add another animation app for special effects.

CSP is just AMAZING, this app just came out in a time I thought I needed something like it as if I just created it by imagining it. It worth the time to try it because I'm sure you will keep it in your regular workflow, no matter if your main field is not "manga", if you do Illustration then go with it :)

**What do you dislike about Clip Studio Paint?**

There's only one thing I do not like about it and it's that it doesn't let you choose between CPU or GPU rendering, which isn't a big deal considering how well optimized CSP is

**Recommendations to others considering Clip Studio Paint:**

Just play and have fun with it. It has so many features that worth discovering on the go that this is al I can say by now.

**What problems is Clip Studio Paint solving and how is that benefiting you?**

-Illustration
-2D animation
-Graphics for games
-Concept art
-Hand-painted textures for my 3D models
-Sketching for my work in general.

  ### 45. Fantastic Program for All Illustration and Comic Needs

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Bobby F. | Illustrator, Design, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 20, 2016

**What do you like best about Clip Studio Paint?**

Clip Studio Paint has an amazing myriad of features. It is 100% the most versatile digital artwork program out there. It combines the tools of Photoshop, the brush and stabilization features of Sai, and its own slew of comic-making tools. The greatest thing to me is the pressure curves - you can actually tweak how your tablet interacts with the program. So - for those of you using non-Wacom tablets? You can tweak the pressure sensitivity so that you don't have to push so hard!

**What do you dislike about Clip Studio Paint?**

If I'm being honest, I'm not completely crazy about the interface. It can be a little daunting at first, but once you break into it it's pretty easy to get the hang of! Navigating brush presets can be a little difficult as well.

**Recommendations to others considering Clip Studio Paint:**

I'd definitely recommend grabbing this product, no matter its current pricepoint. It is VERY worth the price. I'd also suggest checking out Ray Frenden's brush pack for it, it is A+.

**What problems is Clip Studio Paint solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I typically utilize Clip Studio Paint to avoid paying $10+ monthly for Photoshop. So on a budget level, it helps a ton! But honestly, it has a whole slew of benefits. The greatest being that I can use it for not just my illustration work, but also creating advertisements for all of my products. It's a very, very versatile program.

  ### 46. Absolutely Amazing

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Courtney Y. | Marketing Intern, Fine Art, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 01, 2016

**What do you like best about Clip Studio Paint?**

Clip Studio Paint is one of the best programs by far you will ever use. As someone who has been digitally painting for almost 8 years now I've run into a number of different software that are meant for different types of digital art. Clip Studio Paint is well rounded - it has some of the best painting tools out there, along with great pre-installed brushes and textures. It's amazing for comics with its templates as well as its 3D references. Overall I would highly recommend it to anyone looking to get into digital art.

**What do you dislike about Clip Studio Paint?**

The overall layout is somewhat confusing and difficult to use. It is very hard to find some tools and it does lag out at times. It has crashed on multiple occasions losing me hours of work. Some more variety in the brushes would be great as well, though that's easily covered by ones found online.

**Recommendations to others considering Clip Studio Paint:**

It might seem a bit weird and overwhelming at first, especially compared to PaintTool Sai but give it a try, find some custom brushes online and remember to utilize all of the assets, not just the ones that you normally use. A bit of experimenting might help you settle in to the new program much easier.

**What problems is Clip Studio Paint solving and how is that benefiting you?**

My biggest problems are trying to find a program that has all the tools but is still great with textures and user interface. Photoshop is too clunky, paint tool sai is too simple, but clip studio paint really does have it all. With the new animation function I can even use it for gifs and short scenes.

  ### 47. Good software for drwaing

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Stefano B. | Art Director, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 24, 2016

**What do you like best about Clip Studio Paint?**

I think the interface is similar to adobe software and in my opinion is a great benefit if you work with both or if you decide to switch to Clip Studio Paint.
The brushes are really good and the path assistant is really useful.

**What do you dislike about Clip Studio Paint?**

I can't find a fast way to increase or decrease the brush size while i'm painting. I've set up a shortkey but it's not so fast. I would like to link the wacom wheel to the brush size but it seems not possible. The 3D features seems a little poor, they could be upgraded. Some more filters could be a plus.

**Recommendations to others considering Clip Studio Paint:**

Great brushes and a comfortable feeling when drawing, simple and intuitive interface (similar to adobe photoshop) and all you can expect from a great drwaing software. I reccomend this software if you are looking for: "traditional" painting style, manga syle and sketches.

**What problems is Clip Studio Paint solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I've used CSP to produce illustrations and sketches: it was fast and really close to traditional painting.

  ### 48. Excellent Illustration Software

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Brian R. | Owner, Design, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 23, 2016

**What do you like best about Clip Studio Paint?**

Manga studio is an excellent program for illustration, both painterly and lineart based. It offers a wide variety of brush options and settings, that allow brushes to be tweaked to perfection. As of the latest update it also supports frame by frame animation. It supports most common file types, and can export and read Photoshop documents with some limitations (namely rasterizing text layers).

**What do you dislike about Clip Studio Paint?**

the only negative thing I can think to say about this software, is that you are unable to rotate text without rasterizing it.

**Recommendations to others considering Clip Studio Paint:**

If you are interested in comic/manga illustration, this is the best program available as far as I'm concerned. The "brush stability" settings minimize jitter in line art, it opens quick, and doesn't cost hundreds of dollars like Photoshop. Built in features such as resizable word balloons, paneling tools and 3D support make creating excellent comic pages very simple (Provided you have the skill to draw good).

There are two versions offered, Regular and EX. EX has a few more features, such as allowing you to convert images to screentones, though the regular version (what I use) has everything you need to make beautiful artwork without breaking the bank.

**What problems is Clip Studio Paint solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use this mainly for personal use, though i have done various illustrations that are used as parts of websites and advertising materials.

  ### 49. Very complete tool for the ilustator

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Catalina C. | Illustator, Animation, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 28, 2016

**What do you like best about Clip Studio Paint?**

The price vs the quality of the product.

This software has some of the best tools i've seen in a long time. The one i like the most it's the 3d reference tool. It helps a lot to practice and secure check the sketches/posse layouts, it's full customizable and has the option to upload your own models.

Also the crowd tool it's very useful for storyboards and such!

**What do you dislike about Clip Studio Paint?**

Sadly the 3d reference tool isn't perfect, and the commands to move the models are confusing and aren't similar to any 3d software i've ever used.

**Recommendations to others considering Clip Studio Paint:**

This is definitely a must buy software, it's hard to get used to it at first but once you do you simply can not come back to other softwares

**What problems is Clip Studio Paint solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use Clip Studio to make Storyboards since the pencils leave a more handwrite effect.

**What do you like best about Clip Studio Paint?**

It seems like there nothing this program can't do. There's a way to streamline every part of the workflow for drawing comics and illustrations.

I especially love the 3D models. You can customize and pose figures for reference as well as import your own 3D models. It's also ridiculously easy to make your own patterns, textures and brushes. The most recent update allows you to even animate on this program. It's a fantastic all-in-one tool and fun to use!

Plus, the default tools feel very natural without having to mess with the brush settings.

**What do you dislike about Clip Studio Paint?**

This program is worth so much more than it's cost so it's hard to complain about anything honestly. One thing that could be improved though is the transform tool. The transform tool in Photoshop for instance, allows you to warp the image and tweak it in ways that Clip Studio can't do.

**Recommendations to others considering Clip Studio Paint:**

This isn't just a Photoshop substitute, it's a full-on replacement! You won't find a better software for this price.

**What problems is Clip Studio Paint solving and how is that benefiting you?**

For me it's the speed. Clip Studio has all the built in reference and tools that I need to speed up my workflow. For instance, adding flat colors to my art is insanely fast thanks to Clip Studio's 'reference layer' feature.

And for artists, being able to work quickly and efficiently is the key to success!
