  ### 9. Cisco makes a solid, well built, and robust server with the C-Series!

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jeremy F. | Network Engineer, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 07, 2021

**What do you like best about Cisco Rack Servers?**

Its got the cisco brand behind it, and you can tell in the build quality, constant updates, and long-running system. You may pay more for the Cisco brand, but if the budget allows it, then it's a no-brainer. Just like their network equipment, the hardware once setup will just run forever without intervention.

**What do you dislike about Cisco Rack Servers?**

Cisco's smart licensing has gotten better but still has issues and thus is still an issue with the C series UCS boxes. Also figuring out the GUI and system has a pretty big learning curve. It really does so much, but they could have done a better job making it easy to find functions and configure it as it can get confusing fast.

**What problems is Cisco Rack Servers solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Being able to rely less on HP and Dell blades and servers and integrate all your hardware within one brand, one licensing structure, and a one stop shop for all your support needs should something come up.

  ### 10. UCS C480 M5 RACK SERVER

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 29, 2021

**What do you like best about Cisco Rack Servers?**

UCS C480 M5 RACK SERVER is a CISCO product. It gives high performance processing. It comes with great expansion capabilities which is helpful in case it is required to expand. Another, nice feature is flexibility to scale in a four rack unit form factor.

**What do you dislike about Cisco Rack Servers?**

This product comes in 16, 32, 64, 128, and 256 GB, and it would have been great if there is more memory space for this product so, instead of buying and installing two devices of 256 GB, one has the option to purchase one 512 GB or higher.

**What problems is Cisco Rack Servers solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I am using it as a standalone server in a CISCO-managed environment. It brings the power and automation of unified computing to enterprise applications. It comes with the benefits of easy installation, drastically reducing switching and cable requirements, and help ensure deployment consistency.

No need to buy a separate storage (SAN) with Cisco UCS C480 M5 because it's got 24 front-accessible and 8 top-loading hot-swappable Hard Disk Drives Bays. So, any time I'm able increase the storage capacity when required.

Also Cisco UCS C480 M5 has the capability to scale from 2 sockets to 4 sockets using C480 M5 server modules, so even if run out of CPU power in the future due to application upgrades, I'll be able to upgrade my current 2 socket configuration to 4 socket configuration.

Integrated dual 10-Gbps Ethernet ports add an incredible network I/O performance to the whole system.

**What do you dislike about Cisco Rack Servers?**

Cisco UCS C480 M5 fans are incredibly noisy like a car radiator fan if the server room gets heat up a little bit.

Cisco UCS C480 M5 is very expensive, how ever the performance it provides worth the money you spent on it.
