"Streamlined All-in-One Workflows with Time-Saving Automation"
5/5
What do you like best about Canopy?

I like having client tasks, documents, billing, and time tracking in one place. Canopy is easy to navigate, and its automation and AI features help simplify our day-to-day tasks. I can save a document request template and apply it to multiple clients in one click, then customize it for a client’s needs. I like that requests can use long or short text, document uploads, or yes-or-no options, which makes them easy for clients to navigate. The workflow notifications help us work as a team, and filtering tasks by status helps us avoid missing them. Scheduled automated reports show us what we need to work on, even during busy times. I also like that Canopy keeps improving and offers CPEs. The initial setup was relatively easy, with workshops from the Canopy team, and we completed it within a few weeks. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Canopy?

At first, getting started was a bit overwhelming because of the volume of work, navigating things, and trying things out. There was some uncertainty, and it was a learning process, but we got it done within a few weeks. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Game changer for my solo firm!"
5/5
What do you like best about Canopy?

I was able to drastically reduce my tech stack. I can automate workflows and easily track projects, and support is easily accessible. They’re also constantly updating and improving the product based on customer feedback.

From billing to document management, this platform does it all, and does most of it extremely well, and all of it is usable. Several features that I found frustrating have already been updated and improved. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Canopy?

Canopy Virtual Drive and the desktop assistant don’t work with ARM processors. I really hope this gets fixed; as irritating as it is, it’s still a small price to pay. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"User-Friendly, Centralized Client Files with Easy Sharing and Work Tracking"
4/5
What do you like best about Canopy?

Canopy offers a user-friendly interface that makes managing daily tasks and client information efficient and straightforward. One of its greatest strengths is the ability to centralize client files, documents, and communications in one convenient location. The document-sharing features and client portal make it easy to securely exchange information with clients, reducing unnecessary back-and-forth communication. Additionally, the ability to track outstanding work helps our team stay organized, monitor progress, and ensure important tasks do not fall through the cracks. Overall, Canopy has been a valuable tool for streamlining our workflows, improving collaboration, and keeping client information organized and easily accessible. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Canopy?

Navigating the list of outstanding work in Canopy can be cumbersome, particularly when trying to identify and manage work at the individual task level. While the system provides visibility into outstanding items, the organization and presentation of tasks are not always intuitive. When outstanding work is displayed by subtask, the list becomes cluttered and difficult to navigate. Subtasks can overwhelm the overall view, making it challenging to distinguish between larger projects, primary tasks, and individual action items. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Efficient and Smooth Case Management, Though Comments and E-Signatures Need Improvement"
4/5
What do you like best about Canopy?

We use Canopy to plan and manage cases, as well as create customized tax tasks to improve efficiency and simplify project management. It helps us assign tasks and reduce the chances of overlooking client cases. I especially like the commenting feature next to each project, which allows all team members to view comments and follow up on discussions promptly. Additionally, once billing is integrated, we can bill clients directly after completing the conversion, which is very convenient. Canopy also helps us manage deadlines and schedules. Overall, the platform is smooth and easy to use, and the initial setup is relatively straightforward. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Canopy?

I feel that the commenting feature on the right side of each tax project currently only supports plain text and does not allow users to add links to websites or OneDrive. Supporting hyperlinks would help improve work efficiency. Additionally, I tried Canopy’s AI e-signature feature about three to five times, but it consistently failed to identify the locations where signatures were needed. "All-in-One Practice Management That’s Intuitive and QBO-Friendly"
4.5/5
What do you like best about Canopy?

Canopy is a great all-in-one solution for my solo practice. I rely on it as my CRM for maintaining client lists and contact information, tracking my workflows, recording my time, and generating invoices. My clients are able to pay their invoices from an email without logging in. The payments then sync directly to QBO - no manual entry for invoices or payments is needed! I found the system to be fairly intuitive, and I was up and running within a short timeline. They offer a lot more integrations and functions, but this was my first year of operation, and I am still working to integrate the remaining modules. Canopy has recently introduced AI Assistants and are continually improving the software. I've found that the support team actively listens to (& adjusts!) feedback from the community pages. This was my first tax season, and I had virtually no downtime or issues with performance. I did quite a bit of comparison shopping before making my purchase and found that Canopy offered all of the features I was looking for in a workflow management system. The pricing was similar to competitors, but I felt like Canopy was a better fit out of the box without a ton of customization required. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Canopy?

My biggest complaint is the lack of customization when issuing invoices. If I allow a discount on an invoice, the placement of the discount is awkward, and immovable. If I write up/down a line-item, it adjusts the rate shown without the ability to override the presentation. I typically end up removing the detail and issuing a single-line invoice instead. They recently rolled out tax return delivery. I tested it out but found it still kind of clunky and not very smooth. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Secure Client Hub, but Task Priorities Could Be Clearer"
4/5
What do you like best about Canopy?

I like how secure Canopy is. Clients can send us files without worrying about data leaking, and using secure tools helps us follow IRS regulations and gives clients more trust in us. I also like having one place to manage our workflow, tasks, invoicing, client files, and notes, with notifications when new files arrive or a file gets signed. The setup was really easy, and once we got everything onto the platform, it was a lot easier to manage. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Canopy?

I think the workflow could be more visual. Sometimes it’s difficult to know what to prioritize with all the tasks on a list. Little cards on a calendar view, kind of like Google’s, would be great. It also took a lot of time to move all our data from Word documents to the platform. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"A Great All-in-One Practice Management Platform"
4.5/5
What do you like best about Canopy?

Canopy has become the hub of our firm. We use it every day for managing clients, documents, workflows, billing, and our client portal, and having everything in one place has made a huge difference. It's easy to use, keeps our team organized, and helps make sure nothing falls through the cracks. We've also really liked the meeting Notetaker—it saves time and makes follow-up much easier. Overall, it's made our day-to-day work more efficient. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Canopy?

Like any software, it's not perfect. Every now and then we run into little frustrations where we think, "There has to be an easier way to do this." We'd love more robust automations, more customization for workflows and tasks, and a smoother template editing experience. Those are mostly quality-of-life improvements, though. Overall, the benefits far outweigh the occasional annoyance, and Canopy has continued to improve since we started using it. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"A Tax Powerhouse That Makes the Whole Process Easier"
4.5/5
What do you like best about Canopy?

The powerhouse we need for taxes. Makes the entire tax process easier from collecting documents and questions to sharing the finished return. It doesn't. It's a great standalone tool, but it doesn't integrate with the rest of our stack like Xero and Gusto. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Canopy?

The cost is the biggest pain. You get a lot, but it's still a big lift for small firms. I know that AI and continuous development aren't cheap, but still doesn't make the wallet hurt any less. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Templates That Streamline Workflows and Scale Our Accounting Firm"
4.5/5
What do you like best about Canopy?

The concept of templates makes repeatable processes far more efficient while still delivering a consistent client experience. Canopy has built templates into essentially every step of the workflow, which helps accounting firms scale more effectively. Sending engagement letters now takes a few minutes instead of an hour, and requesting documents is as simple as clicking a button. I also appreciate that Canopy continues to innovate. Many of their newer features will become very useful once they’re fully baked, and they should help our firm reduce the total number of applications we rely on and pay for. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Canopy?

Like any software, it comes with its share of frustrations. Quite often, my pre-saved variables don’t work properly when I apply templates to engagements. On top of that, many of the newer features don’t function correctly for a long time after the Beta release, which makes it hard for me to test them in a meaningful way. The concept of “resolution” management is genuinely interesting, but it’s also incredibly cost-prohibitive. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Simple, Team-Loved Hub for Managing Tasks and Templates"
4.5/5
What do you like best about Canopy?

It's a great product/service management tool! Canopy is our main hub for all tasks needing to be performed within the company. It's simple to use, and the whole team loves it. Templates are a big plus so you can easily duplicate tasks across multiple clients w/o recreating the work. Canopy is also great about CHANGE! Any time we have a new idea that would be helpful, it's nice to know that Canopy is open to change and listening to new ideas from the people that use the software. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Canopy?

The only thing I have to complain about with Canopy is the fact that time blocking is not the best. The feature is there, BUT we like to time block our calendars for the whole week so each team member know what their focus needs to be. Canopy has the ability to add the items to your calendar, but only on a specific day NOT a specific time of the day. If this were possible the system would be so much better.
