## Bytescale Reviews
  ### 1. We've been using Bytescale for a few years and have absolutely no complaints

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Teddy M. | Team Lead, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 23, 2026

**What do you like best about Bytescale?**

We use Bytescale to host and optimize images for all of the dynamically generated content on our site. All images go through Bytescale, so I work daily inside with their Image Processing API and URL-based transformations. We upload assets using their APIs which we've integrated directly into our site; we had been using their plug-and-play widget, which is great for quickly implementing uploads in your app, but have since written our own upload workflow using their headless SDK. Even though we've written our own UI, having an SDK you can just "throw a BLOB at" and have it uploaded and transformable is still a massive time saving. The most valuable features for us are transforming images by URL parameters. There's a lot of options so I reached out to their support for the best combination to use for our use case, and they provided a set of parameters that are file-size focused (you can also tune for processing-time focused, among other things, so it's worth getting these right). Image processing reliability and service uptime have been great; we used another vendor for a while and occaisonally there would be images that would crash their image processing pipelines (we'd get an error e.g. due to input images being too large) but haven't had this since moving to Bytescale. We even tested a few known problematic images, and Bytescale handled them fine.

**What do you dislike about Bytescale?**

The initial setup requires a developer; there's a big focus on simplicity within their site, but you still need to know how to code. It's a developer-focused product.

**What problems is Bytescale solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Bytescale solves the problem of slow-loading images on our site. We use its realtime image processing API to transform every image on our site into a more optimal format. We can also make changes to these parameters, e.g. if we decide to change image sizes, and it will just update and re-transform them on the next page load. It helps with our UX (and our SEO guy says it's important for Google too).

  ### 2. Reliable media hosting infrastructure with fast CDN

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Utilities | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 18, 2025

**What do you like best about Bytescale?**

Uploads, transformations, delivery, and security are all rock-solid, fast, and clearly built by people who have taken time to think about developer workflows. Service performance, reliability, and uptime have been great; there have been no service outages and we're consistently getting fast asset load times (TTFBs on media assets in the single digits and low double digits, which is about as fast as you can get).

**What do you dislike about Bytescale?**

There’s a lot of power and flexibility, which can feel overwhelming at first—having a UI or wizard to help build transformation URLs would make onboarding even smoother.

**What problems is Bytescale solving and how is that benefiting you?**

For our platform we deal with a lot of images that need quite specific transformations: watermarking, custom ICC colour profiles, rotations, and such. Some of the source images are also really big (200MP+), and a bunch of other services we tried just struggled or broke there. Bytescale had the features we needed, handled the large files without any issues, and honestly the UI is just nice to work with day to day.

  ### 3. Bait and Switch

**Rating:** 0.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Automotive | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 15, 2025

**What do you like best about Bytescale?**

Initially we were pitched this amazing alternative to competitors.

**What do you dislike about Bytescale?**

One-man show by the owner Lawrence. He convinced us to leave Filestack for better terms (net 60) but then proceeded to change those terms to Net 14. Antiquated billing system means it is impossible to just pay an invoice, and as a result we deal with OUTAGES! So mind blowing, if we just went straight to AWS we would have 180days billing at next to $0.

Not worth it. Lack of empathy for his actual customers.

**What problems is Bytescale solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Image uploading.

  ### 4. A partner as well as a SaaS product

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Evan S. | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 05, 2023

**What do you like best about Bytescale?**

Bytescale has been incredibly responsive to my needs and offers a great product. Before switching from another service and saving over 60% with Bytescale, we considered building our own solution. Bytescale was everything we were looking for and at an affordable price. On two occassions, I've reached out to Bytescale and proposed a change in their service. Both times, they exceeded my expectations and delivered value to our business.

**What do you dislike about Bytescale?**

A couple of developers mentioned to me that the documentation for using JWT tokens in particular could be improved, but overall the API and examples were well written. It would also be nice to have access to the invoices when logged into the site.

**What problems is Bytescale solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Currently, we're using Bytescale for user-submitted file uploads to various application's AWS S3 Buckets. This reduces our footprint and closes some security concerns when compared to making web server and WAF configuration changes to support large and long open connections for file uploads to our webserver.

  ### 5. We migrated to Bytescale and could not be happier!

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Sem v. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 03, 2023

**What do you like best about Bytescale?**

We're using Bytescale to upload, transform and serve images on our watch marketplace. Our users need a way to upload and adjust images easily and quickly, so we needed a flexible and reliable solution for image processing and uploading.

After a few months of using Filestack, we switched to Bytescale, and couldn't be happier! It's such a relief in so many ways:
•	Very flexible pricing model based on used CPU hours instead of a limited number of transformations. It helps us reduce our costs, as we can control (and reduce) image processing times via Bytescale's extensive image processing API.
•	Support response times are incredibly fast. You can also easily (live) chat with them. Want to schedule a call? No problem at all.
•	No hidden costs. Files are perma-cached, so transformations only run once. This makes it a much cheaper solution compared to the competition.
•	Customizable file uploader widget. It is 100% white labelled (i.e. has no Bytescale branding).
•	What really stood out for us, however, was their willingness to build some additional functionality that we needed. We were impressed by how quickly they were able to build this functionality and integrate it into their platform. It was up and running within just a few days, which really exceeded our expectations.

**What do you dislike about Bytescale?**

Nothing found yet, but if I should name something: Bytescale is a younger company and therefore there could be features or options not be available (yet). Luckily they are listening really well to feedback and suggestions. They even developed a feature we really needed within four days (including weekend days).

**What problems is Bytescale solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Quick image uploading, processing and transforming it to multiple sizes. Also we use the feature where we push the final images to our own Amazon S3 bucket. We do not have to worry about any these features because it's all handled by Bytescale. This way we could also make some cool website performance optimisations for our visitors as well.
