Also, the very long list of plug-ins and how easy the back-end is to navigate. **What do you dislike about Buildfire?** The only issue I ran into was not being notified when our app was no longer available in the IOS app store due to changes I had made on the back-end. However, Demetrius and Ehab from buildfire were both very helpful in quickly resolving this issue and getting our app republished the next day! **What problems is Buildfire solving and how is that benefiting you?** We have needed a walking site map of our venue for years, which is where this project began. We needed something to help our guests navigate our intricate pathways and various food and drink offerings without confusing things. Our venue is already flooded with signage, and instructing staff to tell everyone where everything is accurate, was not working out for us. Buildfire has helped immensely in this by solving all of the listed problems; we now have a medium for guests to view a map as they walk, we have the ability to let guests view and order food from their phones, as well as all the functions as our website carries. ### 6. Although there platform works out of the box, you still need to test and make sure the user experience is solid. Although BuildFire is known for its DIY platform, our organization found itself needing a more custom app. BuildFire did not shy away. They set us up with a Project Manager who took us through an extensive design phase, allowing us to ask questions and explore options to create the application we envisioned. Following the design phase, we had to take a long break. We are a small startup organization that relies on external funding, and the COVID-19 climate has been a tough one to navigate. Our Account Executive continued to check in, inquiring if there was anything we needed from BuildFire or anything they could do to support our efforts. Once we were finally able to regain traction, BuildFire was there. They set up a new team to begin developing our product and allowed us to revisit our design plans to make updates/revisions. We have been in development with them for a few months now, and they continue to ensure we are always on track, on budget, and on vision. We appreciate their collaboration and dedication to our project and our process. **What do you dislike about Buildfire?** In BuildFire’s effort to provide exceptional customer service, BuildFire can overcompensate and forget to communicate plainly. When beginning the development phase of our project, there was a change in staffing. Instead of being forthright, BuildFire tried to maintain our confidence by including individuals of the team we had worked with before but would not typically be included during this phase. This created confusion on our end; however, we were able to discuss it with them and resolve the issue. Also, knowing our financial situation, BuildFire is very budget-conscious. Although this is appreciated, sometimes they default to providing non-custom solutions that are not a perfect fit for our vision instead of having a discussion with us. We have been pushing them on this and are now more in sync. Finally, in BuildFire’s desire to maintain our working relationship, they occasionally acquiesce to our suggestions even though we are looking for their knowledge and guidance to form a conclusion. Again, we have been pressing them here and are seeing improvements. **What problems is Buildfire solving and how is that benefiting you?** As a small startup organization, we cannot afford an entire technology team. If you know your way around Wordpress or around the Office suite, you'll learn your way around the app builder in no time. It is the easiest platform I could find out there to build an app without coding abilities. The DIY app building is priced fairly, and their support team was quick to respond and knowledgeable enough to make a positive difference or solve my problems every time I reached out. **What do you dislike about Buildfire?** By its easy-to-use nature, the DIY app builder has its limits. Before committing, make sure you know what these limits are and whether you really can build your app with the features you need, as their custom development services are considerably more expensive. Certain bugs or issues have persisted over the 4 years we've had our app. For example, the in-app browser feature that allows you to open a webpage in the app still does not have a back button to leave the in-app browser and return to the app's homescreen. Luckily, an option exists to open webpages using the devices' default browser (Safari/Chrome). **Recommendations to others considering Buildfire:** Before committing, make sure you know what the limits to the DIY app builder are and whether you really can build your app with all the features you need, as their custom development services are considerably more expensive. **What problems is Buildfire solving and how is that benefiting you?** Our public schools were using a free service called Remind to send SMS text messages to their students' parents. Remind suddenly became unaffordable, and our mobile app became part of the solution. We used our app primarily to send bussing delay notices to parents in case of inclement weather, as push notifications. The app also has an important role in our schools' emergency preparedness plan (fire, tornadoes, armed intruder), but we haven't yet had to use it for that (hopefully we never have to!). ### 44.
