Azure was great and easy to work with during my internship with a software company. Microsoft Azure has many user guides that allow just about anyone to use the product. I would highly recommend it to just about anyone. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Some explanation contained too much jargon, especially for someone just starting out in the industry. Since I was an intern with I used it, some of it went over my head. The user guides really helped though. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Azure migrate is a virtual appliance that you install on your datacenter, it will analyse your datacenter and make an estimation of what will be the cost to run it inside azure. Azure migrate will be also able to construct a map of your application interaction with the analytics agent install on your device. This last service offer as a free trial for a couple of days. You will be able to know what applications is talking to who on which port. it is a very powerfull tool Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Azure migrate only offer a migration to Azure (not surprising). If you want to have the full map of your applications inside your datacenter, you need to install an agent locally on each server and you may want to remove it when trial will be finished. For the cost estimation Azure migrate will not take advantage of Microsoft PAAS solution, it will give you a one to one conversion estimation, so you will need to use azure calculator to optimize your cost evaluation and use PAAS solutions (cheaper). It was fairly easy to use because of the discovery features and being aware of HyperV platforms that we had on-prem. It identified dependencies that we hadn't thought of when making the move, calling out gaps in our plan. It made our end to end process easier to plan and navigate. Like any tool of this nature, you get some false positives or suggestions that aren't as crucial or dependent as the software thinks. Other than that, it worked fairly well for us. I'd rather know more and scale down what I don't need than to not know the gaps existed in the first place. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
