Supports protocols like NFS and SMB. Provides low latency access through local caching. Various deployment options like VMware is easy to use and integrate with ongoing business functions. The interface is easy to go through this. There is an AI chatbot to answer questions that come up to any user. **What do you dislike about AWS Storage Gateway?** initial setup and configurations is complex, also its dependancy on stable internet connectivity **What problems is AWS Storage Gateway solving and how is that benefiting you?** it can have scalable cloud storage which reduces the need for physical storage. I guess this is a pretty regular case when you don't fully migrate to cloud infraestructure. Easy to setup and works pretty good with S3 buckets. **What do you dislike about AWS Storage Gateway?** I can't think about something I dislike about this, my use case was pretty simple. Maybe just be aware of network issues, allocate some time windows in which your network can handle the volume of data you are moving. **What problems is AWS Storage Gateway solving and how is that benefiting you?** Improve on-premises storage usage. ### 4. I played around with File and Volume gateway and eventually went with file gateway as per my project requirements. Connecting the gateway to AD and mapping it to server/PC is really simple. I have implemented this solution instead to use on prem storage services. On the top, it's cheaper than other solutions. **What do you dislike about AWS Storage Gateway?** EC2 host as gateway is not fully developed and definitely not easy to implement. I used Vmware Esxi as a solution and that worked out great. but i tried with ec2 first and that wasn't working with public ip. Didn't try with VPC but it should work with public as well. **What problems is AWS Storage Gateway solving and how is that benefiting you?** I implement cloud storage solution with intelligent tiering for my company. Saves costs and easy to implement. We dont have to worry about redundant storage on premises. AWS takes care of that. We moved all our on prem storage to cloud using file gateway. ### 5. We used a Stored Volume gateway in order to retain data local for quick access, and adding the VM into our VMware enviornment was quick and easy. **What do you dislike about AWS Storage Gateway?** Increasing the size of Stored Volumes was a bit of a pain. Typically you had to restore from a previous snapshot onto a larger disk on your VM. On large volumes in environments with slow internet connections, this will result in long periods of exposure where you are not getting snapshots of your data for backup retention. **Recommendations to others considering AWS Storage Gateway:** I would recommend carefully sizing your volumes with the AWS Storage Gateway, especially if you plan to use Stored Volumes. Increasing the size of these types of volumes leaves you exposed for a minimum of a period of a few hours to potentially a few days, depending on your environment. **What problems is AWS Storage Gateway solving and how is that benefiting you?** Before implementing the AWS Storage Gateway, we were not backing up data off-site.
