The ability to create tasks from container images made it possible to take new batch job to production in no time. The best thing is that you can run as many task instances as you can. Just take care of the task queues within the project inside the container and you can parallelize hundreds of instances of your batch job at once. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com. What do you dislike about AWS Fargate? Since fargate relies on container image, and the actual virtual machine running the container is abstracted and as there is no way to connect to the running container, often it is hard to debug the issues and new changes. It would have great if it would spin up the image directly from the docker file in git. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com. Recommendations to others considering AWS Fargate: If you want to run your project in a serverless way without any need to manage the nodes and clusters yourself, this is the right way to go. You can have lambda like abstraction with easy maintenance of your runtime environment and there is no limitation of session timeout (which is 15 mins for lambda as of today). Aws fargate provides the well serverless application, we don't need any server maintenance for managing the containers, it is used to increase the speed for deployment. You don't have the headache of managing the instances. You just need to mention the cpu and the memory in the task definition and that's about it. 2. The instance metadata url is not consistent for ecs ec2 and fargate. So it means it difficult if you are using metadata url in your workload. 2. Fargate doesn't support mounting of fsx for lustre. It saves our the hassle of taking care of the ec2 instances in the backend. Also we only need to manage scaling policies related to tasks and not the instances as well. It is amazing to use, it has good security features also the aws storage is very usefull . I have been using aws since past 1 year and my experience is really good. Amazon provides a serverless compute engine for our containers with Fargate service. We are able to leverage both ECS and EKS for building our customer applications in our windows containers. It has a brilliant container isolation feature that increases security enhancements and reduces server management workloads. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com. What do you dislike about AWS Fargate? Since its serverless architecture, we don't have to worry about installing security updates, patch the latest version, keeping track of its capacity utilization, and increasing the cluster span in case of requirements. We also don't need to worry about the provisioning of our instances, we simply configure our application dependencies, storage requirements, and scaling features. Nothing to dislike in particular, one improvement suggestion would be to increase its container storage capacity for task definitions since its not adequate for our enterpise use cases. We make use of AWS Fargate for the requirements which involve container solutions without the need of provisioning our windows server instances. Our architecture mainly involves processing through multiple batches in our production environment and having the necessity to migrate our on-premise application in our client base to our windows server on the AWS platform. Since we use optimized Windows Server 2019 Full AMI, it's already configured with all the needed components and helps with running our containers quickly. We define the task definitions of our windows application server tasks, and we retrieve our stdout log files through CloudWatch, which is further helpful for troubleshooting issues with our containers. Fargate is one of the easiest offerings of AWS to get started with. It removes the complexities of setting up and managing servers. What do you dislike about AWS Fargate? The pricing of Fargate & several other AWS products is hard to predict, we've overshot our estimates for several months.
