## About AWS Fargate
AWS Fargate is a serverless compute engine that enables developers to run containerized applications without the need to manage underlying servers or clusters. By abstracting the infrastructure layer, Fargate allows users to focus solely on building and deploying applications, streamlining the development process and reducing operational overhead. It integrates seamlessly with Amazon Elastic Container Service (ECS) and Amazon Elastic Kubernetes Service (EKS), providing a flexible and efficient environment for running containers at scale. Key Features and Functionality: - Serverless Compute for Containers: Fargate eliminates the need to provision and manage servers, handling capacity needs, operating system updates, and compliance requirements automatically. - Flexible Resource Configuration: Users can specify precise CPU and memory requirements for each container, with configurations ranging from 0.25 vCPU and 0.5 GB memory up to 4 vCPUs and 30 GB memory, allowing for optimal resource utilization. - Seamless Scaling: Fargate dynamically scales compute capacity to meet application demands, ensuring high availability and performance without manual intervention. - Enhanced Security: Each task or pod runs in its own dedicated runtime environment, providing workload isolation and reducing the risk of cross-container interference. - Integrated Monitoring: Built-in integrations with AWS services like Amazon CloudWatch Container Insights enable users to monitor applications effectively and gather metrics and logs. - Cost Optimization: With a pay-as-you-go pricing model, users pay only for the compute resources consumed by their applications, with per-second billing and no upfront expenses. Primary Value and Problem Solved: AWS Fargate addresses the complexity and overhead associated with managing server infrastructure for containerized applications. By providing a serverless environment, it allows developers to concentrate on writing code and deploying applications without worrying about provisioning, scaling, or maintaining servers. This leads to faster development cycles, improved security through workload isolation, and cost savings by eliminating the need to manage and pay for idle server capacity. Fargate's seamless integration with AWS services further enhances operational efficiency, making it an ideal solution for organizations looking to modernize their application deployment strategies.

**Reviewed by:** Arham T. | Junior DevOps Engineer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 12, 2021

**What do you like best about AWS Fargate?**

Aws fargate is used for containerize application deployment, also it uses immutable image to deploy same versions to production without any redundancy, aws fargate also good for serverless deployments

**What do you dislike about AWS Fargate?**

Aws fargate uses ecr which is Amazon container registry Everytime the code pushes to ecr innthe form to image it tags it with latest image if someone wants to keeps the old image it doesn't support this we need to do it manually by logging it into ecr.

**What problems is AWS Fargate solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Aws fargate solve many problem like we can easily deploy our containerize environment to ecr as it provides the same output as we expected by running our application in localhost.

 ### 18. AWS Fargate - Serverless offering for docker containers

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Banking | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 09, 2022

**What do you like best about AWS Fargate?**

Fargate is used to launch docker containers on AWS. User don't need to provision the infrastructure (no EC2 instances to manage). It runs containers for users based on CPU/RAM need.

**What do you dislike about AWS Fargate?**

As of now, there are no dislikes and downsides for this product.

**What problems is AWS Fargate solving and how is that benefiting you?**

In on-premises environment, all the tasks will be hosted in the servers which involve infrastructure team to manage servers. When it's moved to AWS, Fargate helps us to launch docker containers to execute the task inside our VPC. To access this task, We have used Elastic Network Interface to bind this task to a network IP.

 ### 19. Aws Faregate Provides server-less compute engine

It is the best way to run containers with minimal input.

 ### 20. The Beginning of a Solid Container Runtime

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Software | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 23, 2021

**What do you like best about AWS Fargate?**

The zero need to configure infrastructure is beautiful. Fully realizing the promise of containerized workloads. Once configured it just seems to work and a lot of opportunities for configuration.

**What do you dislike about AWS Fargate?**

The amount of configuration required to get this service configured to do anything is immense and not straightforward. While it's nice to have configuration options there should be a well paved path that can be followed.

**What problems is AWS Fargate solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Running a auto scaling data migration service. Data migration tasks can scale from zero to many depending on what is happening. Migration tasks run for too long to be used in lambda.

 ### 21. Very easy to get set up, and easy to use, Much more simple than using EC2

 ### 25. Run containers serverless

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** sasi k. | Cloud Security Analyst, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 01, 2021

**What do you like best about AWS Fargate?**

In AWS fargate,it has offered server less thing that is AWS will tak care of the underlying hardware and os for server, we have to take care of only the containers.

**What do you dislike about AWS Fargate?**

I don't have any dislike about the AWS fargate

**Recommendations to others considering AWS Fargate:**

If you have microservices , you can go for the AWS fargate.

**What problems is AWS Fargate solving and how is that benefiting you?**

In AWS fargate , I have bundled my app with dependencies , config files, binary and libraries in a single container. Benefits are we can have high availability and scalability for containers with the help of auto scalling.

 ### 26. Well managed service, no need to spend time on managing micro-services anymore

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Software | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 08, 2021

**What do you like best about AWS Fargate?**

I like it because you as a developer/DevOps Engineer you don't need to manage or auto-scale the service anymore. AWS does all scaling and provide necessary resources to you.

**What do you dislike about AWS Fargate?**

Not much I dislike about Fargate, but maybe cold starts would be prevented in some way as default.

**Recommendations to others considering AWS Fargate:**

I would suggest using Fargate instead of ECS most of the time, but be careful about the cold start, monitor it by leaving your application to get into Cold state to test it. Some languages/frameworks are very slow to start in their nature.

**What problems is AWS Fargate solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We are deploying our micro-services to Fargate which are mostly used by other services.
Since it is auto-scaled as default, it can handle unusual peaks of the service itself, which is very efficient.
You don't need to spend money on resources you use very short period with Fargate.

 ### 27. Great tool to deploy Containers

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Franco P. | DevOps Engineer, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 25, 2020

**What do you like best about AWS Fargate?**

Fargate it's one of the greatest AWS tools for Containers deployment, it provides a quick, super reliable way to have you docker containers deployed without the need of using EKS or deploying on bare vms or EC2 instances.

**What do you dislike about AWS Fargate?**

I think in general is a very helpful tool and easy to understand. The dashboard is very intuitive

**Recommendations to others considering AWS Fargate:**

I highly recommend Fargate over other tools provided by amazon because it removes the administration and overthinking that you would do in any other scenario, it removes the scalation problems and the restarts. It's super easy to monitor and all the logs are available right in the Fargate dashboard.

**What problems is AWS Fargate solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Having the chance to deploy containers easily without doing it in instances I think it's amazing, not having to manage instances or even the containers, all is automated when containers fail when you need to scale and you are one step lower of EKS. EKS can sometimes be hard to manage or use it and you don't want to go there if you only have a little number of containers

 ### 28. Review of AWS Fargate

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Suraj C. | Cloud DevOps Engineer, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 29, 2021

**What do you like best about AWS Fargate?**

Endpoint management which is provided by the

**What do you dislike about AWS Fargate?**

There is nothing specific to dislike, but there are some aspects we need to manage.

**What problems is AWS Fargate solving and how is that benefiting you?**

To deploy the Micro service application on it

 ### 29. Quick and fast Fargate

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Abhinav S. | Campus Lead: Scaler Achiever Club, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 14, 2021

**What do you like best about AWS Fargate?**

It's very quick to deploy and easy to manage

**What do you dislike about AWS Fargate?**

Slow in scaling, that sometimes is irritating.

**What problems is AWS Fargate solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I was working on creating a prototype for a logging system. I realized that it was easy to deploy.

 ### 30. Fargate provides you with the CPU without worrying about the underlying image

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Financial Services | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 09, 2020

**What do you like best about AWS Fargate?**

With no AMI to manage we can know our services run on latest OS

**What do you dislike about AWS Fargate?**

The cost of Fargate for long running applications makes it not suitable. In addition the constant features being added to EC2 ECS have made it easier to manage your own EC2 cluster and have it scale and stay up to date. Without fargate

**What problems is AWS Fargate solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We have been able to have a runtime for transient container services to run jobs without worrying about managing hardware.

 ### 31. AWS Fargate Is Good Stuff

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Alex B. | CSR 3, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 22, 2020

**What do you like best about AWS Fargate?**

The fact that you don't have to manage any underlying server resources, just deploy your containerized job descriptions and AWS will take care of the rest

**What do you dislike about AWS Fargate?**

The primary complaint that you will see people have is lack of persistent storage with AWS fargate. This has been somewhat remedied, as they now allow you to mount an EFS (Elastic File System) share into a Fargate container. This is more expensive than regular EBS volumes (which are not supported in fargate yet)

**What problems is AWS Fargate solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Fargate solves the issue of configuring / managing servers. We are able to directly put manpower towards our end result, rather than using it to make sure servers are healthy.

 ### 32. 0-100 in seconds

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Information Technology and Services | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 07, 2020

**What do you like best about AWS Fargate?**

- fire and forget
- seamless autoscaling

**What do you dislike about AWS Fargate?**

- difficult to understand for first time users due to confusing terms

**What problems is AWS Fargate solving and how is that benefiting you?**

AWS fargate is our go to technology when developing apps for scalability

 ### 33. Not what you are searching for if you need an EFS attached to your containers

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Pol A. | Backend developer, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 02, 2019

**What do you like best about AWS Fargate?**

We started using Fargate due to the need of executing several tasks with a queue management. We divide our tasks between those tasks that don't need high amount of resources and can be executed in Fargate, and those that have a huge computational cost and we execute them in AWS Batch. We were able to integrate the deploy of the docker images in charge of executing our tasks in our git CI pipeline in an easy way.
In addition, it's not really expensive compared to other services like google cloud or Azure.

**What do you dislike about AWS Fargate?**

Incompatibility with EFS. We needed to replace AWS Fargate for AWS Batch due to incompatibility of Fargate to attach EFS to the containers.

**Recommendations to others considering AWS Fargate:**

Useful if you need to execute a large number of concurrent tasks. Is not the solution you need if you need to attach an EFS to the containers.

**What problems is AWS Fargate solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Execute high demand tasks fast. Thanks to AWS Fargate, we don't need to take care of servers configuration, autoscaling and task queuing. It's easy to deploy a new task deploying your docker image to Fargate.

 ### 34. Fargate is a good entry point for scalable backends

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Ralph K. | Founder & CEO, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 06, 2019

**What do you like best about AWS Fargate?**

The best thing about Fargate is that you can just start out of the gate without setting up servers. Other than Kubernetes or ECS you don't have to run your own servers but it is all managed in a Blackbox for you by AWS.

**What do you dislike about AWS Fargate?**

Fargate is a good bit pricier than running your own servers. Naturally you can also not select much in terms of the operating system, but in reality that almost never matters.

**Recommendations to others considering AWS Fargate:**

Run the numbers to make sure it is the best option for you considering the alternatives (ECS + EKS).

**What problems is AWS Fargate solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Deploying an app without having to configure servers. Also whenever you want to be scalable Fargate is ideal as it starts new instances quicker than you would with K8 or ECS.

 ### 35. you can rapidly deploy application by using AWS Fargate!!

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jinesh S. | Cloud Engineer and Application Developer , Information Technology and Services, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**What do you like best about AWS Fargate?**

i have been working with AWS Fargate for 1-2 years , and as a cloud architect it's a boon for me , as we all know currently companies are moving towards containers for developing and managing their applications , and for all that things the AWS fargate is the best solution , it also offers multiple container product to help you deploy and manage the container , do you know what it becomes so easy to scale up and scale down dynamically when you're using AWS Fargate , so that AWS users can easily run container work loads in production!!

**What do you dislike about AWS Fargate?**

AWS Fargate is costlier when compared with other services ! !

**Recommendations to others considering AWS Fargate:**

one of the widely used service for easily running , managing containers even without having to manage EC2 instances , it's very easy to use and you can also find some good tutorials on the internet , so my suggestion to you that you should get your hands dirty on it and try to explore it . ! !

**What problems is AWS Fargate solving and how is that benefiting you?**

we use AWS fargate to manage and scale containers !!

 ### 36. A new server less container solution for AWS!!

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** dinesh m. | Cloud Architect, Information Technology and Services, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 20, 2018

**What do you like best about AWS Fargate?**

i have been using AWS Fargate for 1 year , it's a launch type within existing ECS(Elastic Container Service) , before introducing it most customer were running their application on AWS EC2 only , and that was really hard to configure and as a cloud architect you were supposed to mess up with so many things while deploying an application , but with AWS Fargate we can able to decouple the packaging of the application from the underlying OS, and it also enabled certain level of isolation between the different application running on a single OS ,it made the task of building cloud native application very easy!!

**What do you dislike about AWS Fargate?**

it requires some amount of experience on Amazon EC2 and knowledge of some services , it's not that much easy to directly implement it!!

**Recommendations to others considering AWS Fargate:**

widely used service for building , deploying clod based applications and it's very easy to scale up and scale down as per your requirement using AWS Fargate, and the pricing are veery transparent you only need to pay for what you use!!

**What problems is AWS Fargate solving and how is that benefiting you?**

we're using it for around 1year to build cloud native applications!!

**What do you like best about AWS Fargate?**

AWS Fargate allows you to run containers without managing servers or clusters. It gives you freedom of not choosing the server type and managing clusters. It lets you focus on designing and building clusters instead of managing vm's of servers. It comes in 2 modes fargate launch type and ec2 launch type. The prior one allows you to just design the containers choose the CPU requirement and create IAM policies and memory management and then finally launch the application. The later one ec2-launch type haves you to have more server level granular control over your application. The fargate has many benefits like freedom of not choosing cluster, easily scalable container and easy integration with ec2-instance.

**What do you dislike about AWS Fargate?**

I have nothing to dislike about amazon AWS fargate.

**Recommendations to others considering AWS Fargate:**

I would recommend using AWS Fargate to people who use servers and clusters for developing application specific services. You can go for AWS Fargate which gives you an option to integrate it with ec2-instance.Using AWS Fargate you just have to design the containers and then specify the hardware requirements and then release the application for usage. It is recommended tool for designing containers without managing servers or clusters.

**What problems is AWS Fargate solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I am using amazon AWS fargate with ec2-instance for developing containers for application specific services. It gives us freedom of not managing servers and clusters instead focus fully on developing the container and then just specify basic configuration of container like cpu, memory, networking and then launch the application. It has served its purpose at its best.
