## AWS Control Tower Reviews
  ### 1. AWS Control Tower Simplifies Multi-Account Cloud Governance

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Muhammad O. | Salesforce Business Analyst, Information Technology and Services, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 21, 2026

**What do you like best about AWS Control Tower?**

I like how AWS Control Tower makes it easier to manage and govern multiple AWS accounts from a single place. The setup process feels well organized and straightforward, and the built-in security guardrails help maintain compliance without requiring too much manual effort. Overall, it saves time when creating and managing cloud environments for different teams or projects, especially when you need consistent governance across accounts.

**What do you dislike about AWS Control Tower?**

One area that could be improved is the learning curve for new users who aren’t very familiar with AWS services. Some of the more advanced configuration and customization options can feel a bit complex at first and may take time to get comfortable with. The pricing, along with the dependency on other AWS services, can also be challenging for smaller teams that are working with tight budgets.

**What problems is AWS Control Tower solving and how is that benefiting you?**

AWS Control Tower helps address the challenge of managing multiple AWS accounts while keeping security policies consistent across different environments. It cuts down on manual setup and makes cloud governance more visible and easier to track. For our team, this has meant real time savings, stronger compliance, and a simpler, more streamlined approach to overall cloud account management.

  ### 2. Structured Setup with Consistent Environment and Helpful Guardrails

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Kaleem A. | Software Engineer, Information Technology and Services, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 04, 2026

**What do you like best about AWS Control Tower?**

What I like most is how it standardizes the entire AWS environment right from the start. Once you get access, everything is already organized into accounts with predefined policies and guardrails, so you’re not forced to figure out security or permissions from scratch.

From a user perspective, that consistency makes work feel predictable across projects, since the same rules and baseline setup apply everywhere. The guardrails are especially helpful: they prevent risky actions and automatically enforce best practices, which reduces mistakes without requiring constant manual checks.

**What do you dislike about AWS Control Tower?**

One downside is that, as a non-admin user, you don’t get much visibility into how things are configured behind the scenes. When something is restricted or blocked by a guardrail, it isn’t always obvious what triggered it or why, which can slow down troubleshooting.

On top of that, the controls can feel a bit restrictive in day-to-day work. Because many of them are enforced automatically and aren’t easy to change, you often end up relying on the admin team even for small adjustments. That adds extra back-and-forth and can make simple tasks take longer than they should.

**What problems is AWS Control Tower solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It mainly addresses the challenge of managing multiple AWS accounts in a consistent, secure way. Rather than setting up accounts, permissions, logging, and compliance one by one, everything is managed through a centralized landing zone with built-in governance.

This cuts down setup time and helps prevent common misconfigurations, especially for teams where several people are working across different accounts. It also strengthens security by automatically enabling services such as logging and compliance checks across accounts, so you don’t have to configure those pieces manually each time.

  ### 3. Simplifies Multi-Account AWS Management with Built-In Security Guardrails

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Rehan A. | Artificial Intelligence Engineer, Information Technology and Services, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 02, 2026

**What do you like best about AWS Control Tower?**

What I like best is how it simplifies managing multiple AWS accounts from one place. The built-in guardrails help maintain security and compliance automatically. It also saves time by setting up accounts in a structured and consistent way.

**What do you dislike about AWS Control Tower?**

The initial setup can be a bit confusing, especially for new users. There is also limited flexibility in some configurations, and troubleshooting issues can take time.

**What problems is AWS Control Tower solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It solves the problem of managing multiple AWS accounts manually. It automates account setup, applies security policies, and keeps everything organized. This helps save time and reduces chances of errors.

  ### 4. ASW Control Tower Keeps All Our Projects Organized in One Place

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Lijo J. | Business Analysis, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 17, 2026

**What do you like best about AWS Control Tower?**

Since we work on multiple projects at the same time, ASW Control Tower helps us manage and keep track of all our projects in one place, under a single window.

**What do you dislike about AWS Control Tower?**

Since it’s a single control tower, if the credentials are lost even once, it will affect all the projects over time.

**What problems is AWS Control Tower solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Before, when we had multiple projects, we had to maintain each AWS server separately. With the control tower, we can manage everything under one window, and it helps us secure our projects more easily, especially since some of them contain financial data.

  ### 5. A centralized unit to manage and trace the landing zones

  ### 7. Accelerate your Infrastructure deployment on AWS at ease using AWS Control Tower!

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Srinath K. | Consultant - Cloud and DevOps, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 13, 2024

**What do you like best about AWS Control Tower?**

I have used AWS Control Tower on many enterprise projects. Here is my taught aout it,
1 - Creating Multi-Account AWS Environment is very easy using AWS Control Tower.
2 - It used Organizations to govern all the AWS Accounts.
3 - It has Organization trails and it helps logs all the events on all the accounts associated with it.
4 - Has Security hub Dashboard which helps monitor AWS Accounts. It collects data from Inspector, Guard Duty, Macie, Firewall etc,
5 - It supports AWS Guard Duty, that is a threat detection system, which can monitor Route 53, Cloud Trail, VPC Flow logs, etc.
6 - It also supports Inspector, Usually used for Network and Host assessment.
7 - Easy to use and integrate and provides lots of control over AWS accounts, Has excellent AWS customer Support for all type of plans(Basic, Business, etc).
8 - It has a very good Documentation and community support which makes it easy to implement. It is one of the reason why it is widely used across various exterprise organizations.

**What do you dislike about AWS Control Tower?**

I have very few to highlight from my experience using the tool,
1 - It has AWS Security Hub and it is limited to be enabled on one region on all accounts and time.
2 - You must stick with AWS for all your infrastructre (accounts). Which sometimes make is difficult for big organizations to decide for theie application.
3 - It is also unavailable on few regions like - Hyderabad, Jakarta and Osaka, Spain, Zurich.
4 - It supports only 10 concurrent operations and which makes it slow in-terms of provisioning/creation time.

I came across these difficulties so far nothing much to say about the problems in control tower

**What problems is AWS Control Tower solving and how is that benefiting you?**

From my experice using control tower, Many companies face difficulties in setting up/Govern their infrastructure in a well architected way,
For example -
Admin Account - Complete control over other accounts , enfore policy ;
Network Account  - Handle all the Network In/Out on the Infra ;
Application specific Accounts - Dev/UAT,PROD accounts as per Application needs.

Creating this manually makes life difficult for infra engineers, But using Control Tower and Landing Zone makes it easy.

Using AWS Control Tower, We can easily Govern the AWS Accounts, By Enforcing the SCP's on all accounts, Deny certian action explicitely on all accounts.
Using IAM Access Analyzer, AWS Security Hub, AWS Guard Duty, AWS Inspector makes it easy to Govern the Infrastructurein a easier way

  ### 18. Slow, clunky, and painful to migrate existing infrastructure

**Rating:** 0.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Financial Services | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 25, 2020

**What do you like best about AWS Control Tower?**

The only positive thing I can say about Control Tower is that does offer the protections it mentions on the box. However there are many ways to skin a cat, and the way they've chosen to do it is a unique kind of torture.

**What do you dislike about AWS Control Tower?**

Everything about the implementation.

Migration of existing accounts is a painstaking process whereby the instructions basically tell you to "increase your SSO timeout to 12 hours, set up a workstation with Python/Boto3 and run this python script to import an account. Each account takes around 30 minutes, so do it in batches of around 24 accounts and hope it doesn't time out... if it does, just re-run it again... but you can only do that after you've manually logged into accounts and performed prerequisite tasks first- oh, and that nested Organisational Unit structure you had setup previously? Forget about it, Control Tower can only handle a flat structure- we obviously didn't have enough time to implement inheritance".

Did you want to change more than one thing? "I'm sorry that last change you made is still being applied by CloudFormation, that will take several minutes to complete. Please come back when you've lost all context of what you were trying to do". If you want to assign a Guardrail to 2-3 OU's you need to budget at least 20-30 minutes for no other reason that Control Tower tells you that its busy and you can't do anything until the previous CloudFormation operation has completed.

Oh, did I mention CloudFormation? Control Tower loves to clutter up your accounts with new IAM roles and CloudFormation stacks/stacksets. Given that a large chunk of the guard rails involve protecting the guard rails themselves, and the remainders are things like "prevent public access checkbox from being ticked on RDS instances", "limit the number of VPCs that can be created"- why they couldn't implement these things in some backend infrastructure outside of your application/environment account is beyond me.

All in all it feels like a proof of concept more than it does a finished product.

**What problems is AWS Control Tower solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Management of multiple accounts, and enforcement of security policies.
