  ### 6. Excellent industrial process simulator

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Oil & Energy | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 15, 2019

**What do you like best about aspenONE Engineering?**

AspenONE Engineering is an ally for all process engineers. With it, you perform industrial process simulations, and the data obtained from the simulation are the first steps to implement the parameters and equipment in the processing plant. With this simulator, you can optimize processes and model new plant designs.

**What do you dislike about aspenONE Engineering?**

It is excellent software, although sometimes the material balance calculations can be somewhat imprecise, but it is very minimal. I can say it is even negligible; compared to real data, it amounts to a 0.5 variation.

**Recommendations to others considering aspenONE Engineering:**

AspenOne is an excellent ally for the oil and energy industry, specifically for natural gas and oil processing plants, natural gas fractionation into its derivatives for import and export, among others. It is a software I recommend because it helps us optimize processes, and at the same time allows us to estimate the capital cost to invest in modifications or new designs for plants or equipment, such as distillers, storage tanks, separators, exchangers, etc. It is a comprehensive software.

**What problems is aspenONE Engineering solving and how is that benefiting you?**

AspenONE Engineering helps me in my work and I love it because it has a very intuitive and easy interface for me to simulate. You can find each icon easily in the control palettes, connect streams, and know the required parameters for each piece of equipment with just one click. It helps me size and design the equipment to replace or modify parameters. It is excellent in process optimization to save energy and avoid unplanned downtime or even an accident when designing something new. In process plants, when these are new, you must know the capital cost to invest, and with the simulation, you know what equipment you require and manage the involved costs. Additionally, it can run process simulation modules throughout the plant on a case-by-case basis.

  ### 8. Aspen Plus, HYSYS and Energy Analyzer

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Chemicals | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 31, 2018

**What do you like best about aspenONE Engineering?**

I really like the interface for Plus and HYSYS. But you have to know basic chemical engineering knowledge to use it especially for Energy Analyzer. Tutorials from LearnChemE on Youtube would be helpful for a rookie to get familiarized with these softwares. HYSYS is useful and very detail for oil and gas sector while Plus can be used for simple chemical or biological process.

**What do you dislike about aspenONE Engineering?**

A minor thing like convergence of the process; needs more elaborations of errors. Requires a slightly high end computer specs to run it smoothly since it's a sophisticated software. License issues can be a problem too, whenever every user in the company is using it, hope it can be resolved by simple update so that administrators can take actions.

**Recommendations to others considering aspenONE Engineering:**

AspenTech could create a software for batch processes that includes biological unit equipment to be more competitive and channel users from other industrial backgrounds (biology, material science etc) than SuperPro and PROII, since they (referring to SuperPro) are really outdated and not user-friendly. Additionally, the cost for AspenOne can be reduced for students to own the software? But I know it's a industrial software but limited functions can imposed just to give student a glimpse on working on real process simulations tool.

**What problems is aspenONE Engineering solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I have worked on two mega projects, they are very useful for our processes to be economically feasible and realistic. They really helped in calculating very tough chemical engineering computations and easy to use!
