## AppSecEngineer Reviews
  ### 1. Finally Found an AppSec Course That Actually Teaches Real Skills!

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer & Network Security | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 19, 2025

**What do you like best about AppSecEngineer?**

Real hands-on labs - Finally, a course where you actually hack and fix vulnerabilities instead of just reading about them. The interactive environments are solid and you learn by doing.

Practical, current content - Covers everything from OWASP Top 10 to DevSecOps. I've been applying what I learned directly to my job. The instructors clearly have real-world experience and share actual war stories.

Logical progression - Builds from basics to advanced topics naturally. Even complex concepts click because of how they structure the learning path.

**What do you dislike about AppSecEngineer?**

Limited community - Pretty isolated experience. Would love more ways to connect with other learners or get help when stuck.

**What problems is AppSecEngineer solving and how is that benefiting you?**

My Problem: Most security training is scattered, theoretical, and doesn't prepare you for actual AppSec jobs.
What AppSecEngineer Fixed:
One platform with actual hands-on labs where I break and fix real vulnerabilities. No more hunting across 20 different sites for decent content.

How It's Helping Me:
Real skills, not just theory - I've actually exploited SQL injections and fixed them
Job interview confidence - Can share specific examples instead of just buzzwords
Career progress - Getting callbacks for AppSec roles now
Time saved - Everything I need in one place

**Official Response from AppSec Engineer:**

> Thank you for the valuable feedback! We have a discord community where you can connect with fellow learners and trainers too.

Appsecenginner has an excellent selection of courses that covers many aspects of security, from offensive to defensive. The newer AI/LLM-based structured courses are also thoughtfully designed and feel well suited to the needs of anyone who is newly entering the security field.

**What do you dislike about AppSecEngineer?**

The learning portal offers a wide range of options to choose from for learning. However, it would be helpful if mobile modules for both Android and iOS could be added as well.

**What problems is AppSecEngineer solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Appsecengineer addresses some of the niche concpets related to security in devsecops , containers , cloud etc. The modules are very well organized.

I find AppSecEngineer valuable for its practical knowledge and hands-on experience. It really helps me understand topics in depth. The cloud-based practical experience is a standout feature, and I appreciate the focus on trending security practices, which is beneficial for a security engineer like me. Learning about secure practices, such as SQL injection, command injection, and many OWASP top 10 topics with practical exercises, is extremely helpful. Also, the platform is beginner-friendly, making it accessible for newcomers.

Improvement can be on more topics to include, maybe AppSecEngineer can use AI security practices and choose better topics.

**What do you like best about AppSecEngineer?**

Good catalog of hands-on labs, nice GUI with great user experience, provides a complete package for Application Security

Not too advanced labs, good for freshers or early professionals, but not for experienced professionals (their certifications can be one option for experienced professionals)

**What problems is AppSecEngineer solving and how is that benefiting you?**

A well-structured learning content helps freshers to learn application security, DevSecOps, and related domains in an easy and well-defined way
and there Hands on lab is very helpful for learning by doing

I loved the appSec series, which has both the basic and advanced concepts. To highlight, threat modeling course was quite informative.

There are very limited resources for AppSec overall which covers some of the key concepts like DevSecOps, thread modeling, etc. I believe AppSecEngineer bridging that gap.

I have taken TryHackme, Pentesterlab and HackTheBox subscriptions as well but appsecengineer looks like a club of all these three. Appsecengineer has journeys, courses, paths, labs and also dashboards which can track your status very smoothly. I am learning day by day and enjoying this journey.

**Rating:** 3.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Financial Services | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 19, 2026

**What do you like best about AppSecEngineer?**

The information/content. It's practical and useful from AppSec engg perspective

**What do you dislike about AppSecEngineer?**

I wish more videos to be recorded by trainers and not by automated software. Such videos lacks personal experience.

**What problems is AppSecEngineer solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I am getting the benefits by learning secure code fundamentals that is helping me understand how it is actually done practically and not just theoretically

**Official Response from AppSec Engineer:**

> Thank you so much for your valuable review and time. We will definitely work on the suggestions as user experience is first priority for us.

  ### 10. One of the best platform to learn appsec & cloud security

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Kiran K. | SOC engineer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 13, 2025

**What do you like best about AppSecEngineer?**

Interactive courses with practical labs that are easy to use and learn effectively. Its diverse from beginner friendly to advance levels covering all aspects of appsec. The dashboard is very intuitive with showcasing achievments like badges, completed challenges etc. The courses are up to date and wide array of courses from k8's,Gen AI LLM,DevSecOps,Cloud Sec,Threat modelling & much more. Plus it has many challenges, sandbox playgrounds, Labs etc. Plus it has curated journey for specific roles & tasks that help you achieve your goals. Overall it has been immensly helpful for me to learn effectively and also easily implement few use-cases in my current role as well. They have nice integration with discord as well for discussion with community. Their customer support is top notch and always able to address any issues if i had. The challenges and wide range of topics help me scale any hurdle in appsec learning i have. I recommend this to anyone interested to learn appsec as its easy ,fun and effective . I use it very often and participate sometimes in their webinars as well.

**What do you dislike about AppSecEngineer?**

Some of the modules or courses are pretty advanced such as Owasp or K8's. It took me a while to understand as coming from soc background but the learning path helped me align. I would love if they included like CTF's that make challenges even more fun. You need to dedicate enough time & patience to learn the skills.

**What problems is AppSecEngineer solving and how is that benefiting you?**

There are wide areas of application & cloud security that either some vendors overcharge or dont have included in their modules at all and not provide for individuals. Appsec engineer is affordable and helps address this problem teaching devsecops, cloud security & adv appsec courses that enhances your skills without going through long duration bootcamps. You can choose specific topics and learn the skillset. There are challenges and labs that give practical exposure which is hard to find (for ex,GCP security). The badges upon completion of tasks helps you to showcase to your peers & manager to get good recognition within team and share your knowledge. It has also helped me identify the underlying issues and rectify them in my current company. Thanks to the knowledge i gained from here . It also has boosted my confidence to take up CTF's and learn both offense & defensive side of security. The course are up to date and new courses being added regularly helps me hooked & motivated.

**Official Response from AppSec Engineer:**

> Thank you for the valuable feedback. You can take challenges to test the skills. CTF feature is available under AppSecFlag flagship for teams.
