Managing desktops for our workforce is so much easier than before. The ability for us to auto-scale to the cloud during our peak season, without having to build out the infrastructure to support that is huge. **What do you dislike about Apporto?** I have no issues at this time. Everything is good. **What problems is Apporto solving and how is that benefiting you?** Apporto has streamlined the management of virtual desktops for our organization. It simplifies deployment and maintenance, allowing us to easily provision and manage desktops without dealing with the complexity of traditional systems. The work desktops and applications that can be accessed from any device, as long as, the device has an internet connection is quite flexibility I have acquired. **What do you dislike about Apporto?** I can’t afford any interruptions due to a temporary loss of connection – it has a very real and negative impact on my productivity. It can clinically become unmanageable at times when there is inadequate connectivity to do work or even access documents and files. **What problems is Apporto solving and how is that benefiting you?** Apporto gets rid of the practical work laptop, enabling me to work from any location that has connection to the Internet. Our in-house/open source solution was taking an excessive amount of staff time to maintain so we were looking for a vendor partner who could host our VCL in the cloud. We explored many, many products and ultimately selected Apporto due to their dedication to the Higher Education space, their ease of use, flexibility, and their personal approach to understanding our university and studen/faculty needs. Today the VCL is our primary comuter lab. **What do you dislike about Apporto?** A cloud hosted VCL has the perception of being slower than the traditional PC lab. Apporto has worked with us on this and is helping us to change that perception. **What problems is Apporto solving and how is that benefiting you?** Apporto has helped Illinois Tech by reducing our reliance on expensive in-house PC classrooms and has drastically sped up the process to roll out new and updated software titles. ### 14. They are able to configure and install unique applications so students can access software from most devices with an Internet connection and a web browser. The pricing is easy to understand and it's predictable which makes it easier to budget for. **What do you dislike about Apporto?** It is heavily reliant on other cloud providers such as AWS for the infrastructure. If AWS goes down, so does Apporto, but this is probably true with most virtual desktop services. As long as AWS stays resiliant, so will Apporto. **What problems is Apporto solving and how is that benefiting you?** Creates a reliable good performing service while reducing total cost of ownership in IT. Allows our IT team to be more flexible and use staff resources in other areas most needed. Lastly, Apporto allows all students to have anytime and anywhere access to software needed for research and homework.
