The helpful team behind the software is the best thing about DBMarlin. They recognise user needs and update their product with new features every month. The best thing about the software itself is being able to drill down into selected statements and check at-a-glace its plan, users, platform etc. Another couple of stand-out features is the change tracking, and the time comparison report. Also, being able to view the execution plans as a more hierarchical view is a really helpful feature.

Updated 07/06/23 - Some of the new features, like SQL Statistics and Blocking Sessions are also very welcome additions. Being able to preview the query without changing pages is extremely useful too. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

It can sometimes not be quite as 'snappy' as I would like, and the charts aggregate into hours or days too readily when selecting a larger date range. I have to point out, though, that the team is always taking this sort of feedback on board and nearly every item on my wishlist for a perfect DB monitoring service has so far been added at one stage or another.

DBMarlin is a great tool to get an overall picture of the health of a database. With a few clicks you can check in great detail where the bottlenecks are. The excellent help pages also try to offer you a solution already. At least they give you a direction on where to look.

What is also great about the product is the very close cooperation. Questions are answered very quickly and if help is needed for example when setting up a demo. In no time everything is ready and explained to the hilt. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

There are no items from DBmarlin that I dislike. Some items cannot yet be checked with DBmarlin. But if you indicate this to the DBmarlin-team they will take your suggestion seriously. DBmarlin supports all execution engines that follow parallel processing and retains a history of all executions in its platform. It can be integrated with any database with ease, and it minimizes database redundancies & anomalies. It also aids in the optimization of SQL queries which typically takes a lot of time to execute & provide results quickly. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Its pricing standards for the premium model are comparatively higher than other database monitoring tools. We make use of its effective services, such as wait state analysis, root cause analysis drill down and DB instance monitoring. The "Database Activities" timeline lets you view precisely when each query was executed on your monitored system and how many times. Within the "Statement Chart" view, SQL statements are colour-coded for more straightforward analysis.

Drilling down into each SQL statement gives you even more data, for example, the statement Execution Plan, where the statement was executed from (Client names) and by whom (DB user names), etc.

The new SQL Stats Explorer feature provides information on the most expensive SQL statements based on different, selectable criteria (such as rows read, CPU time, wait time, etc.). It can be instrumental in spotting SQL that is out of scope. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Some missing features would be more than nice to have - for example, a "Current Activities" view showing what is happening in the database right now - SQL statements in progress and other essential database metrics (bufferpool stats, table/tablespace activity, active locks, etc.).

But, as the tool is very young in the DB2 world, it keeps getting updates - new functionalities - frequently and is on an excellent path to becoming The Tool to turn to in times of crisis, but also for everyday monitoring and proactive database tuning. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

I have had the pleasure of working with 3 generations of DBA products from this team. DBMarlin is their latest and greatest. When we have performance issues this product gets right to the heart of the matter quickly. It does not matter if its Oracle, SQL Server or MYSQL, it works as intended every time. One Product, you pick the database. Best part, the product is not a performance drain on the system when you use it. The interface is easy to use. They have built a great product.
