  ### 2. Open Source tool. I can interact with Android and iOS application.

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Information Technology and Services | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 02, 2019

**What do you like best about Appium?**

It's free and (mostly) open source. Easy to use for Test Automation.

**What do you dislike about Appium?**

Project setup is more complex and it does not support the low version of Android. Appium has biggest issue that the latest version GUI keep crashing.

**What problems is Appium solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Appium is one such testing tool which allows you to write test against native, mobile web, and hybrid applications on iOS and Android platforms. This is a great resource for someone who is new to mobile testing. People can integrate appium with other tools with the help of java. I’ve used Appium and find that it is pretty good for automation testers. It can interact with the element and provide the information about the element.Whenever i have problem, i got the solution through appium community as well as through Google searches.

  ### 3. It was designed to revolutionize the testing of mobile applications

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Marlyn G. | Senior Functional Consultant, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 31, 2018

**What do you like best about Appium?**

It has enough documentation on the web to deal with projects in it, it is a multiplatform application that has revolutionized the market of applications testing thus allowing to obtain results and facilitating the work of quality assurance departments, The connection between the application and third-party software that complements it is excellent without mentioning the fact that it is an open source tool, so its implementation ends up being low cost for companies that require it.

**What do you dislike about Appium?**

The installation of the application in theory is somewhat complicated and requires specialized personnel as well as its initial configuration, the tests in some operating systems are slowed down too much generating an important work traffic and slowness in obtaining results.

**Recommendations to others considering Appium:**

It is ideal for any company that does require a qualified information technology department that has the ability to perform the installation of the software without problems because it requires certain knowledge

**What problems is Appium solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It allows us to have a powerful mobile application testing software helping or serving as a help to the quality assurance department obtaining better results using a significant amount of man-hours

  ### 4. Appium is a good tool but a bit slow specially for iOS

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Prameet R. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 30, 2018

**What do you like best about Appium?**

Appium is good in terms of compatibility with mobile (Android & iOS). The amount of references available online was enough for me to quickly get going. Though the setup can be tough for a new comer but still resources available are good.

**What do you dislike about Appium?**

Execution speed with the iOS. Though I won't completely blame appium for this as Apple is the main culprit here and Appium team does it's best to speedup tests. Couple of years ago tests used to take a lot of time but now it's way better.

**What problems is Appium solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We are using it for UI testing and it's is helpful in terms of our needs. Benefits:
If appium tests are written properly then mostly same scripts can be re-used for both iOS and Android which saves a lot of time. Execution on simulators, emulators and real devices is not hard if it is done on one of them (except for the iOS real device as it is problem from Apple)

  ### 5. Appium for Mobile automation

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Information Technology and Services | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 11, 2019

**What do you like best about Appium?**

For mobile automation, Appium is very good to use. for taking XPath or id it is very helpful.

**What do you dislike about Appium?**

After connecting to mobile, It is taking so much time to open.

**What problems is Appium solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Using Appium very easy to search the XPath for automation. It is very useful and helpful.

  ### 6. Best open source tool for mobile testing

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Mohit C. | Associate Consultant, Information Technology and Services, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 15, 2018

**What do you like best about Appium?**

The first thing is it is open source and free. So you need not pay for your mobile testing solutions. On top of that you can integrate it with your favorite IDE like Eclipse, netbeans etc. to write the automated tests for mobile devices. You can also go for real mobile devices or simulate a specific android version using UI automator

**What do you dislike about Appium?**

It would have been great if the tool had easy setup procedure. I know that is a one time activity but still that is way too confusing and you eventually run into version mismatch problems. I do not dislike the fact but it lacks windows mobile application support.

**Recommendations to others considering Appium:**

Go ahead with this tool for your mobile automation solutions. It is cheap, reliable, robust and easy to use once the setup is done. Do not change java versions after appium installation, it will generate a lot of issues. Even Java 9 does not yet properly supports appium, you have to set some properties here and there to get started.

**What problems is Appium solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We have a test suite of over 300 test cases with different android versions and it is all cost efficient and time efficient to automate the functional process and test the functionalities with appium. By this regression suite we are saving a lot of time and also no compromises are made in quality.

  ### 7. Robust and versatile, though a little complex

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Cynthia N. | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 13, 2018

**What do you like best about Appium?**

Appium has one of the best support from the devs and the community, and is overall highly active with new updates regularly. Its API is well-documented and easy to understand, and easily scalable to multiple devices and/or computers.

**What do you dislike about Appium?**

Sometimes a functionality you want to automate is version-sensitive to Appium and your machine environment, so you have to be especially careful with your setup if you want to reproduce it on another machine. Other times, APIs become deprecated without a clear successor, other times the Appium web server itself malfunctions mid-execution, etc.

**What problems is Appium solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We used Appium to develop an automation framework intended for non-technical users. In it, we built a framework that allowed us to dynamically create and launch multiple Appium servers on one server per device connected, saved logs and video recordings, and displayed it on the web interface. Ease of use and time efficiency was achieved across all platforms with Appium that would otherwise not be possible with other automation frameworks.

  ### 8. Automattion with Appium

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Information Technology and Services | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 12, 2019

**What do you like best about Appium?**

useful for searching Xpath for automation. easy way to search Xpath , class, ResourceId from appium.

**What do you dislike about Appium?**

Sometimes resourceId not located, that is problem when we search for the resource id & its not found there.

**Recommendations to others considering Appium:**

If u are searching xpath on mobile phone, through appium you can get that eaisy.

**What problems is Appium solving and how is that benefiting you?**

it is very easy way to search the xpath.

The convenience of connecting devices both Android and iOS. Easy configuration settings for both iOS and Android. Easy to integrate with Selenium.

**What do you dislike about Appium?**

Incompatibility issues with some specific android version such as Android Version 5.0. And also sometimes show vague errors which make difficult to debug the error and so effect/delay both the development time and cause overhead.

**Recommendations to others considering Appium:**

Strongly Recommend

**What problems is Appium solving and how is that benefiting you?**

writing Automation testing framework for iOS and Android hybrid application. Writing Framework in C# and using selenium and Appium for executing automation test cases.
