"Powerful for Mobile Testing, Challenging Setup"
What do you like best about Appium?

I use Appium for mobile app testing, and I find it helpful for performance testing and parallel execution of automation test cases across multiple devices and versions. I really like the inspector for selecting element IDs, which is very useful for finding the exact web element locators. The integration with code editors is also beneficial because it allows me to connect my codebase to Appium via BrowserStack or use it directly in the editor. I enjoy how I can connect physical devices for testing, which is a very enjoyable feature. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Appium?

The initial setup of Appium is quite challenging, as I spent a lot of time creating the framework and often encountered issues with the driver not initializing. Additionally, for setup, it would be helpful to have examples that are used in real industry scenarios rather than simple ones. Also, using Appium for iOS on Windows adds a cost factor because you need a MacBook, which increases expenses. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Appium Simplifies Cross-Platform Testing and Supports Multiple Languages"
What do you like best about Appium?

1. With Appium, the same script can be used for both iOS and Android platforms, requiring only minimal modifications. This makes it convenient to maintain cross-platform test automation.

2. Appium is open source. No license cost needed like Tosca.

3.We can use multiple programming language like python, Java, C#, JavaScript. I am using Python for the integration.

4. It works directly with the .apk or .ipa files which will save time and easy to implement. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Appium?

1.I turn to Appium only when Tosca is unable to handle certain scenarios, which is why I don't use it frequently. In my experience, testing with Appium is noticeably slower compared to Selenium or Tosca.

2.Issues sometimes I faced like network issue, app crashes or device lagging. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Cross-Platform Mobile Testing Champion"
What do you like best about Appium?

Write-once-run-anywhere approach using WebDriver protocol enables single test codebase to cover both iOS and Android platforms, dramatically reducing maintenance overhead.

Open-source nature with massive community support provides extensive documentation, plugins, and solutions for edge cases without vendor lock-in or licensing costs.

No app modification required - tests production builds directly without SDK integration or code changes, ensuring we're testing exactly what users experience.

Appium Inspector tool provides powerful element identification and real-time interaction capabilities, making selector generation and debugging significantly easier.

Extensive language support (Java, Python, JavaScript, Ruby, C#) allows teams to use existing expertise without learning new programming languages.

Cloud device farm integration (BrowserStack, Sauce Labs, AWS Device Farm) enables parallel execution across hundreds of real devices without infrastructure investment. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Appium?

Initial setup complexity is overwhelming - configuring Appium server, mobile drivers, desired capabilities, and environment dependencies often takes days of troubleshooting.

Test execution speed is significantly slower compared to native frameworks like Espresso or XCUITest, making large regression suites time-consuming. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
