**What do you like best about Apono?**

I like that Apono is easy to configure and easy for our users to use, which makes it straightforward to do the right thing and encourages adoption. It's very easy to set up, and we got a lot of help from them when we were early in their life cycle. I appreciate how Apono helps us with access control, ensuring least privilege and providing an audit trail. I've already recommended it, giving it a 10 out of 10.

**Reviewed Date:** April 22, 2026

**What do you like best about Apono?**

I use Apono for database access control and appreciate the granular user permission controls it provides, especially for our workgroup servers. The ability to manage users through Active Directory is a significant advantage. I like their extensive API, which allows us to automate our configuration within Apono, making it very hands-off. This automation, through scripting, ensures that as we add, remove, or relocate databases, changes flow into Apono automatically. Our users prefer it over our previous method of accessing databases. The initial setup of Apono was very easy, and the Apono team was very helpful.

**What do you dislike about Apono?**

Everything has been great!

**What problems is Apono solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Apono provides granular user permission controls, integrates with Active Directory, and automates database access with its extensive API, making it reliable and preferred by our users.

**Reviewed by:** Eli H. | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 26, 2026

**What do you like best about Apono?**

I use Apono for privilege access management and just-in-time (JIT) access. It streamlines access requests, making them more efficient for the operations teams like IT and DevOps who work with high privilege accounts. I appreciate the ease of use and the clear dashboard, which enhances user experience significantly. The JIT feature is working great, and we can handle access requests and justifications while keeping records of all requests. I also like the integration with Google and Amazon, which is vital for our workflow.

**What do you dislike about Apono?**

  ### 4. Streamlined Access Management with Top Security Features

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Logan G. | Security Manager, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 22, 2026

**What do you like best about Apono?**

I really appreciate how the Slack app for Apono makes submitting and reviewing access requests so easy. It's also beneficial that there are capabilities for Apono admins to highlight suspicious access requests and reduce the attack surface. Instead of moving to the Apono web app for every request, I find it convenient to interact directly with Apono in Slack. The initial setup of Apono for our team was very easy.

**What do you dislike about Apono?**

It's missing integrations with some of our key capabilities, including Rootly for incident management.

**What problems is Apono solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use Apono to manage just-in-time access to our cloud infrastructure and ensure time-bound least-privilege access. The Slack app simplifies access requests and highlights suspicious activities, keeping our team efficient and secure.

  ### 5. Streamlined Access with User-Friendly Interface

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Steph Afamefuna N. | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**What do you like best about Apono?**

I like that Apono has a very friendly graphical user interface. It's easy to use, and you don't need to have a ton of experience to navigate it. You can just kind of go in there, start clicking around, and figure it out pretty quickly. Our customer success manager has been great, and overall, I feel that Apono is a great product.

**What do you dislike about Apono?**

They have a lot of gaps around some of the applications that we have. It is new, Apono, as a whole, so they are turning on some of those, one at a time.

**What problems is Apono solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Apono reduces the number of access tickets, improving team productivity. Teams can now self-access software with approval, streamlining our workflow.

  ### 7. Integrated Apono for regulated user read-access to data

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Nivi M. | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 09, 2023

**What do you like best about Apono?**

Quick and easy config to integrate access control with a myriad of service providers and data stores. For the admin, it's pretty straightforward to define and implement access flows. For the requester, all they have to do is ask for it via slack and they get what they need within seconds. Apono keeps track of everything and reacts just in time to apply, restore or revoke credentials and permissions.

The team is responsive and delivers on requests. We've had some custom implementations catered to our needs by the team quickly and with no hassle at all.

**What do you dislike about Apono?**

It's more on the side of UI/UX, there's some stuff missing like a back/cancel button on certain screens. Also, some screens are not so straightforward to get into. They are linked to from other screens, but they don't have their own link in the side menu. However, the team is always open to feedback, and is constantly improving.

**What problems is Apono solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We want to allow users to have read access only to data. We want to be able to control how gets access to the data, and who approves access. We also want access to be temporary and upon request.

  ### 8. Just in time permissions never have been easier

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Igor K. | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 05, 2023

**What do you like best about Apono?**

Most integration configurations are straightforward and backed up by informative yet simple documentation.
In more complicated cases, Apono's team were happy to help and solved issues fast and with high professionalism.
The product supports many services and has an intuitive UI, both on the administrative and user sides.

**What do you dislike about Apono?**

Currently, a few features require to contact support for opting in or out, but as said in the pros, the team is very responsive, so it is not a big issue.

**What problems is Apono solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It allows us to grant temporary permissions to users for different services, which include data sources like MySQL, PostgreSQL, cloud resources like S3 buckets and access to Kubernetes clusters, using simply defined flows with various rules.
Apono significantly increased our security posture because the permission's scope is dynamically configured, and credentials expire automatically. Consequently, the management burden was reduced dramatically.

  ### 9. Ideal for startups that want to onboard operational excellence DevOps in a quick turnaround!

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Software | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 24, 2023

**What do you like best about Apono?**

As head of IT, It gives me a piece of mind when I know that only the right users get proper access to the system's DB at the right time; with Apono I don't need to worry about managing DB privileges since Apono makes sure that the key is automatically revoked upon duration completion.

**What do you dislike about Apono?**

The onboarding experience can be improved, it took me a while to connect, and with a quite cranky UI was not clear what went wrong; I had to get Apono Customer support to learn that the IAM configuration template provided by AWS UI Console was not acceaptable by Apono but there was no error message which would indicate that and help me to solve the problem for myself.

**What problems is Apono solving and how is that benefiting you?**

DB privileges management.
We have an on-call routine where different operators need to run queries and execution on PostgreSQL; It's crucial that they would not hold their DB password for an extended period, and their privileges will reduce when the on-call ends.

Apono automates and provides me with peace of mind that the security of my organization is on top
