Apigee API Management Reviews & Product Details

One of the aspects I appreciate most about Apigee API Management is its pre-flow and post-policy features. These allow us to intercept both at the request and response stages, which is very useful. From a business perspective, I also find it more cost-effective compared to Kong, which is another strong tool in the market. The user interface is well-designed, making it accessible for anyone to use after a few days of training. Another advantage is that the configuration of the Proxy Endpoint and Target Endpoint is handled separately, unlike in Kong. Additionally, the Key Value Map (KVM) feature is helpful for securely storing credentials and retrieving them at runtime when needed. Tracing is best feature in Apigee. 1. The developer portal for Apigee does not feel fully mature.

2. When creating a new revision of an API proxy, the deployment process in the environment often takes too long.

1. The thing I appreciate the most is how stable and dependable it is, especially when our traffic spikes.

2. It feels like a solid wall managing all the API calls, so I don't have to worry about security or things breaking down.

3. I also love the analytics dashboard; it’s super clear and easy to see who is using our stuff, which helps us figure out what to build next.

4. It takes away a lot of the headache of managing thousands of connections.

5. Customer support is also very good they are eager to help.

6. Documentation is also very defined.

7. We can easily integrate it with APIOps.

8. We can integration it with different IDP for security purposes.

It’s a powerful tool, but honestly, it can feel like learning how to fly a spaceship when we first start. It definitely has a steep learning curve, and getting simple things set up sometimes takes too many steps. Also, for smaller projects or teams, the cost can feel a bit high compared to some simpler options out there. It’s worth it for the scale, but the initial setup and complexity could be simpler. The things i like about Apigee as an API management tool are -

1. The way in which we can control the Policies flow, be it in Client to Apigee and Apigee to backend.

2.The KVM and Tracing tool/Debugger of Apigee is outstanding and something which makes it better then the rest.

3. The Service callout policy is one of the best feature of Apigee.

4. The Integration with GCP is something to add on too.

The things i don't like about Apigee are -

1.It's not as easy as its counter parts when it comes to deploy it on premise.

2.Its does not support multi cloud architecture, as i cant host is Management plane on other cloud providers other then GCP.

Apigee X is well integrated with GCP suite of products. Since the management of the the console is added directly to GCP console it simplied a lot of process. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Apigee X needs to engagement CI/CD process and simply delivery and management of API as a software. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Trace feature is good helps a lot to debug.

On-demand policy changes and revisions.

API Metrics can be improved to be more helpful and user friendly.

Apigee - its exhaustive documentation, minimal coding, Apigee support is very good.
