"It is one of best solution available for relational database."
4.5/5
What do you like best about Amazon Relational Database Service (RDS)?

It is managed by AWS and we can use it as a service. It is very easy to implement and easy to integrate with the application. It's has features like auto update and backup of database. It's is one of the database which is used very frequently. Also AWS provide a good support service to fix our issues. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Amazon Relational Database Service (RDS)?

It is expensive as compare to stand alone environment. We have to pay cost for the storage, computing, backup, and data transfer costs of your RDS instance, as well as any additional features such as multi-AZ deployment or read replicas Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"RDS outclasses classic database administration reducing manual work"
3/5
What do you like best about Amazon Relational Database Service (RDS)?

Managing relational database is way easier in RDS than classic database models.

I am able to automate some management and maintenance tasks which helps my work.

It supports many databases so very scalable. We use It for both oracle and mariadb with no issues Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Amazon Relational Database Service (RDS)?

Replication of RDS based db's is a bit time taking in my experience. SSH is not supported so Linux based environments is a challange.

Also, RDS is very much centred around AWS so using another cloud service like ibm, gcc might be hard, though I have tested. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Least helpful about Amazon RDS is it has limited customization, it can be restrictive for businesses with highly specialised database requirement. And another thing is that its dependence on AWS which may not be ideal for businesses. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"One of the best Database provider service"
5/5
What do you like best about Amazon Relational Database Service (RDS)?

I have used RDS service provided by Amazon in many projects and my experience from creating a Database on AWS and then integrating it with my backend was smooth. I never faced any issues in the integration. RDS is very safe and customizable that makes it best in the software development. It also has great customer support so if you're stuck you can easily get help. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Amazon Relational Database Service (RDS)?

There are a lot of customization options available, it is amazing but for a beginner it's just an overload of options which they do not know about, so there should be an option which says like 'Fast RDS creation' if we use it then we get a database instantly. "Easy to setup, manage and high availability."
4/5
What do you like best about Amazon Relational Database Service (RDS)?

1. Ease of setup via aws-cli, cloudfront, api or using AWS gui.

2. Automated backups and high scalability helps to offload database cluster management to AWS. This is very helpful for small teams.

3. Security and Authorization can be setup very efficiently using IAM and security groups and policies.

4. Support for MySql, Postgres and MariaDB help easy migration. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Amazon Relational Database Service (RDS)?

1. You cannot configure like autovacuum frequency etc. AWS managed RDS for you but in many usecases require to make some configurations for db fine tuning which you will not be able to do.

2. High dependency on AWS which makes it difficult to change cloud providers in future Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Peace of mind"
4.5/5
What do you like best about Amazon Relational Database Service (RDS)?

It is very easy to move on a very secure and auto scalable RDS service. Its large number of metrics provide you the clear picture of load. And its backup mechanism is perfect. I have been using the RDS for the last 2 years. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Amazon Relational Database Service (RDS)?

We moved from running MySQL on our own server to Amazon RDS. Migration was very easy but cost seems a factor which seems a bit high. Rest we faced some issues finding the scaling point during the scale process. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Convenient and Reliable, but Costs Rise with Scale"
5/5
What do you like best about Amazon Relational Database Service (RDS)?

The thing that impresses me the most in Amazon RDS is how it simplifies database management by automating processes like backups, patching, and scaling. In this way, we can focus on the development, rather than on the infrastructure. This saves us a lot of time and does not bind us to a specific DBA. What's more, through Multi-AZ deployments, high availability is already there, out-of-the-box, which reduces the likelihood of downtimes, and so easy to set up read replicas for performance optimization. The assortment of supported engines for databases, including MySQL, PostgreSQL, and Oracle, among many others, also allows us to be flexible depending on the needs of the project. All in all, RDS strikes a great balance in convenience and reliability Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Amazon Relational Database Service (RDS)?

One thing that I dislike about Amazon RDS is the lack of control it gives in respect to low-level database configurations, which may be restrictive in advanced customization or fine-tuning. On top of that, the costs grow very fast while your workloads are expanding, especially with Multi-AZ deployments, read replicas, and larger instance sizes. This convenience might come at a cost: for high-traffic or write-heavy applications, the pricing structure could become difficult to manage, and you must have actively monitored and optimized your usage to avoid unexpected expenses. It also does not support some of the features available in self-managed databases, which can, in turn, be limiting for certain specialized use cases. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"It has been an amazing experience shifting from on-prem self managed database to RDS"
5/5
What do you like best about Amazon Relational Database Service (RDS)?

The best thing about RDS is the auto-scaling feature. Previously, I was using on-prem server to host my MySQL database and managing the storage and traffic was a huge concern for me. By offloading patches and infrastructure management, I am now more focused on other things. I personally like the read-replicas and their storage autoscaling the best features. I can easily integrate my RDS with tens of AWS services securely without any cost. I don't have to daily check on its status and I can just look at my Email if something goes wrong with the RDS. I can easily spin up a copy of database for staging environment from a snapshot. I did get stuck in implementing audit logs but the customer support was really good in helping me out. It is very easy to use and implement. I use it daily. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Amazon Relational Database Service (RDS)?

I only dislike one feature of RDS but that's my opinion. I want to ssh inside the RDS instance to check some things out. For example, I know I can delete and view logs from RDS console but to open and close logs one by one takes a lot of time while if it was terminal, it would be really fast.
