"Seamless Cloud Sync and Pro Image editing"

4/5

What do you like best about Adobe Photoshop Lightroom?

I have been working with Adobe Lightroom for several years now, and it has transformed how I approach photography editing and organization. This platform combines cloud-based flexibility with professional-grade editing capabilities, making it an indispensable tool for anyone serious about photography.

The ecosystem spans desktop, mobile, and web applications, all syncing seamlessly to keep my entire photo library accessible wherever I am. What sets Lightroom apart is its ability to handle everything from quick mobile edits to complex desktop workflows while maintaining a consistent, intuitive interface across all platforms.

What I love about Lightroom:

The non-destructive editing approach fundamentally changed how I work with images. Every adjustment exists as metadata rather than permanently altering pixels, giving me complete creative freedom to experiment. I’ve revisited photos from years ago and completely reimagined them without any degradation in quality. This flexibility extends to every tool in the application, from basic exposure corrections to complex color grading.

AI-powered masking represents a quantum leap in efficiency. The Select People feature creates separate masks for face, skin, eyes, teeth, hair, body, and clothing automatically. When editing portraits, I can brighten just the eyes, smooth skin tones, or adjust clothing colors independently without manual masking. Select Sky instantly isolates sky regions in landscapes, allowing dramatic adjustments to weather and atmosphere while keeping foreground elements untouched. The Select Subject tool intelligently identifies primary subjects regardless of complexity, whether photographing wildlife, products, or architectural details.

Generative Remove powered by Adobe Firefly transformed my approach to composition cleanup. Unwanted elements vanish with a simple brush stroke, and the AI synthesizes replacement pixels that blend naturally with surrounding areas. I’ve removed entire crowds from architectural shots, eliminated power lines from landscapes, and cleaned up debris without any telltale signs of manipulation. The content-aware fill technology understands perspective, lighting, and texture patterns far better than traditional cloning methods.

Cloud synchronization eliminated device boundaries from my workflow entirely. Starting edits during my morning coffee on my iPad, refining them at my desk workstation, then making final tweaks on my phone before client meetings happens seamlessly. Every rating, flag, keyword, album structure, and edit history stays perfectly synchronized. The ability to access my complete archive from anywhere proved invaluable when unexpected requests arise or when inspiration strikes away from my primary setup.

Batch processing capabilities multiply my productivity exponentially. After perfecting one image from a series, I copy those settings and apply them across entire shoots. The intelligent sync recognizes individual variations while maintaining consistent aesthetics. Wedding photographers shooting hundreds of images under similar conditions benefit enormously, as do product photographers needing uniform styling across catalog images.

Adaptive Presets bring intelligence to one-click processing. Rather than blindly applying fixed adjustments, these presets analyze image content and modify their effect accordingly. A preset designed for portraits recognizes faces and adjusts skin tones appropriately, while the same preset applied to landscapes emphasizes sky and foliage instead. This contextual awareness means presets actually work as intended rather than requiring extensive correction after application.

The Curves interface provides surgical precision for tonal manipulation. Point curves let me target specific brightness ranges and sculpt contrast with complete control. Combining this with masking creates possibilities for incredibly nuanced adjustments—adding drama to storm clouds while preserving shadow detail in foreground subjects, or creating luminosity masks that rival Photoshop workflows without leaving Lightroom.

Denoise capabilities rescued countless low-light images that would otherwise be unusable. High ISO shooting introduces grain that traditionally required compromise between noise reduction and detail preservation. The AI-powered approach distinguishes between actual image detail and noise artifacts, cleaning grain while maintaining sharpness. Night photography and indoor event coverage became significantly more viable.

Super Resolution breathes new life into older images or heavily cropped compositions. Machine learning upscales photos intelligently, quadrupling pixel count while preserving and even enhancing detail. I’ve salvaged crops that seemed too aggressive and printed larger than originally thought possible. The process takes seconds and produces results that hold up to scrutiny even at significant magnifications.

Organizational tools leverage AI to eliminate tedious manual categorization. Searching for “sunset beach” or “red car” instantly surfaces relevant images without prior keywording. The visual search understands concepts, objects, colors, and scenes. Combined with traditional organizational methods like star ratings, color labels, albums, and hierarchical folders, finding specific images within massive libraries becomes effortless.

The Light panel consolidates fundamental tonal controls in a logical progression. Exposure, contrast, highlights, shadows, whites, and blacks provide comprehensive adjustment range with intuitive slider behavior. The real-time histogram shows exactly what’s happening to tonal distribution, and clipping warnings prevent losing detail in extremes. This foundation supports virtually any tonal interpretation from low-key drama to bright and airy aesthetics.

Color Grading replaced the older split toning with far more sophisticated control. Independent color wheels for shadows, midtones, and highlights allow three-way color treatments that create cinematic looks or vintage film emulations. Adjusting color balance separately in different tonal zones produces nuanced color palettes impossible with global adjustments. The blending sliders control transitions between zones for smooth gradations or abrupt shifts depending on creative intent.

Texture, Clarity, and Dehaze sliders address distinct aspects of image appearance. Texture affects fine detail without impacting major edges, perfect for enhancing fabric patterns or smoothing skin while preserving facial structure. Clarity modifies midtone contrast and edge definition, adding punch to landscapes or backing off for dreamy portraits. Dehaze specifically targets atmospheric interference, cutting through fog to reveal hidden detail and saturation.

Local folder support addresses concerns about cloud storage limitations and internet dependency. I can work with photos stored on local drives or external storage while still accessing Lightroom’s complete editing toolkit. This hybrid approach provides flexibility for managing extensive archives without exhausting cloud quotas or requiring constant connectivity.

Raw Details enhancement extracts maximum quality from raw files through advanced demosaicing algorithms. Edge definition improves, color accuracy increases, and artifacts diminish compared to standard processing. For images destined for large prints or intense scrutiny, this preprocessing step elevates technical quality noticeably.

Video editing capabilities apply photo adjustments and presets to video clips, maintaining visual consistency across mixed media projects. Copying settings between stills and motion ensures cohesive aesthetics throughout multimedia productions without learning separate video applications.

Lens Blur creates convincing shallow depth-of-field effects after capture. The AI understands spatial relationships and applies graduated blur that mimics optical bokeh. Smartphone images or photos shot at small apertures can receive that professional subject isolation retroactively.

Panorama stitching merges multiple exposures into sweeping wide compositions automatically. Alignment, blending, and cropping happen transparently with preview before final rendering. Complex multi-row panoramas that would challenge dedicated stitching software process reliably within Lightroom.

The Lightroom Community provides inspiration and learning through shared edits and presets. Discovering how other photographers approach similar subjects expands creative possibilities and exposes techniques I might not have explored independently. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Adobe Photoshop Lightroom?

The subscription requirement represents an ongoing financial commitment rather than a discrete purchase. While I personally find value in continuous updates and included cloud storage, the perpetual cost adds up over years of use. Photographers preferring one-time software purchases or those with intermittent needs may find the mandatory subscription model less appealing.

Cloud storage limits become restrictive faster than expected with modern camera files. A single day of serious shooting in raw format can consume 30-40GB or more. The included 1TB fills surprisingly quickly, forcing decisions about what stays synced versus relegated to local-only storage. Additional storage tiers increase monthly costs, turning the base subscription into just the starting point financially.

Organizational capabilities feel streamlined compared to Lightroom Classic, which cuts both ways. The simplified structure works beautifully for straightforward workflows but lacks depth when managing complex projects with intricate categorization needs. The absence of Virtual Copies particularly stands out; the Versions feature functions differently and feels less natural when exploring multiple creative interpretations of single images.

Performance occasionally lags when working with extensive libraries or processing-intensive adjustments. The cloud sync process can temporarily slow responsiveness, and rendering previews for folders containing thousands of images takes noticeable time. While rarely prohibitive, these moments of sluggishness interrupt creative flow.

The web interface provides convenient access but frustrating limitations. Many advanced features available in desktop versions simply don’t exist in the browser interface. When working remotely without my primary devices, discovering that certain tools are inaccessible mid-project creates unwelcome friction. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Adobe Photoshop Lightroom solving and how is that benefiting you?

Before implementing Adobe Lightroom, my photography workflow suffered from significant fragmentation across multiple devices and applications, creating substantial operational inefficiencies. Image editing performed on desktop workstations remained inaccessible during client meetings or field assignments unless files were manually transferred to mobile devices. This limitation frequently resulted in situations where recently edited work could not be presented when clients requested specific images. The cloud synchronization architecture in Lightroom eliminated this fragmentation entirely. All editing parameters, organizational hierarchies, rating systems, and flagging structures now maintain perfect synchronization across all platforms. Work can be initiated on tablet devices, refined at desktop workstations, and finalized on mobile platforms without any discontinuity. This device-agnostic approach fundamentally transformed operational flexibility by removing location and hardware dependencies from the workflow.

The organizational challenges inherent in managing distributed image libraries across multiple storage systems created genuine workflow impediments. Files resided on various external storage devices, with images scattered between laptop and desktop systems, resulting in persistent uncertainty regarding version currency and location. Multiple iterations of identical images with varying adjustment parameters existed across different storage locations, requiring time-intensive reconciliation to identify authoritative versions. This version control complexity resolved completely upon migrating to Lightroom’s unified library architecture. A singular authoritative repository now exists for every image, eliminating ambiguity regarding version status and location across distributed systems.

The efficiency gains from batch processing capabilities have proven substantial, particularly for high-volume projects such as event coverage and commercial assignments involving hundreds of images captured under consistent lighting parameters. Individual image processing previously consumed excessive time while producing inconsistent results across image sets. Current methodology involves perfecting adjustments on a representative image, then propagating those parameters across entire batches. The intelligent synchronization system recognizes individual image variations while maintaining cohesive aesthetic standards. Processing timelines that previously required full business days now complete within one to two hours, with demonstrably superior consistency compared to individual image processing. This efficiency multiplier directly enhanced capacity for concurrent project management and accelerated client deliverable timelines.

The AI-powered masking infrastructure addressed what had been among the most labor-intensive aspects of professional image editing: precision selection creation. Significant time investment was previously required for manually masking subjects, atmospheric elements, or discrete regions requiring independent adjustment. The Select People, Select Sky, and Select Subject features now execute this process automatically with exceptional accuracy. Portrait editing workflows now instantly generate discrete masks for ocular regions, dermal areas, hair, and garments without manual intervention. Landscape photography benefits from single-click sky isolation, enabling dramatic atmospheric adjustments while preserving foreground integrity. This automation delivered not merely temporal savings but fundamental expansion of viable adjustment complexity. Previously, certain sophisticated edits were foregone due to disproportionate masking labor relative to incremental improvement. The removal of this technical barrier substantially expanded creative exploration parameters.

Generative Remove technology addressed a persistent challenge throughout professional photography practice: unavoidable compositional distractions in otherwise optimal captures. Infrastructure elements intersecting landscape compositions, transient individuals occupying architectural frames, debris elements within environmental scenes—these factors historically necessitated accepting compromised compositions or investing substantial effort in external editing applications utilizing clone stamp and healing methodologies with variable outcomes. The Generative Remove feature employs AI analysis of contextual elements including perspective geometry, illumination characteristics, and surface texture patterns to synthesize replacement pixels exhibiting natural integration with adjacent image areas. Successful removal of crowd elements from architectural subjects, elimination of utility infrastructure from natural landscapes, and cleanup of urban environmental factors has been achieved with results maintaining photographic authenticity. This capability significantly elevated deliverable quality by enabling presentation of intended compositional vision without visual elements that compromise viewer focus.

Data integrity and backup reliability represented critical operational concerns, particularly following hardware failure incidents resulting in substantial work product loss during early career phases. Various backup methodologies were attempted including external storage redundancy, manual duplication protocols, and cloud services requiring conscious upload execution. None achieved requisite reliability due to dependency on manual process execution. Lightroom’s automated cloud synchronization maintains continuous backup of the complete photographic archive without requiring operator intervention. Every capture, adjustment parameter, and organizational decision propagates to secure cloud infrastructure automatically. The operational confidence this provides is substantial. Hardware failure scenarios no longer constitute existential threats to work product integrity, and aggressive experimentation becomes viable with assurance that no action sequence can result in permanent data compromise.

The consistent interface architecture across desktop, mobile, and web platforms resolved learning curve challenges encountered with alternative photography software ecosystems. Working across different devices or operational contexts historically required utilizing disparate applications, each implementing distinct interface conventions and workflow paradigms. The cognitive overhead of transitioning between these varied environments proved surprisingly taxing. Lightroom maintains consistent appearance and operational behavior whether deployed on large-format desktop displays, tablet devices, or mobile phone interfaces. Developed muscle memory transfers completely between hardware platforms, eliminating mental energy expenditure on environmental adaptation based on current working context. This consistency extends beyond interface design to encompass editing capabilities, organizational infrastructure, and keyboard command mappings across all platforms.

Development and application of custom preset libraries transformed approaches to maintaining visual consistency across portfolio collections. Prior to implementing systematic preset workflows, images exhibited unintended stylistic variation, particularly for projects executed across extended timeframes. Manual recreation of specific aesthetic treatments proved challenging and time-intensive, with imperfect replication of previous visual characteristics. Custom presets capturing signature editing methodologies now enable instant application of consistent foundational aesthetics to new work. This does not mandate uniform appearance across all images—image-specific refinements remain integral to the process—but foundational aesthetic parameters maintain coherence throughout the body of work. Client feedback has included recognition of immediately identifiable stylistic signatures, and portfolio visual cohesion has strengthened demonstrably since implementing this preset-based methodology.

Client collaboration and deliverable workflows achieved substantial simplification through Lightroom’s integrated sharing architecture. Previous methodologies for client review involved exporting files, uploading to separate sharing platforms, distributing access links, awaiting feedback through email or messaging channels, then correlating commentary to specific images. This process proved cumbersome and frequently generated communication ambiguities. Current methodology involves creating shared albums directly within Lightroom that clients can access from any device without requiring software installation. Clients can annotate specific images, designate preferred selections, and download final files within a unified streamlined interface. The approval cycle has accelerated substantially, reducing iterative exchanges that previously extended project timelines. Final deliverable distribution proceeds more efficiently, and clients have responded positively to the professional presentation quality and access convenience.

Mobile editing capabilities fundamentally altered approaches to photography during travel assignments and field operations. Previously, substantive editing required returning to desktop workstation environments, creating delays between capture and distribution while limiting responsiveness to time-sensitive requirements. Current capability enables image capture and immediate application of professional-grade adjustments directly on mobile phone or tablet platforms. During travel for both professional assignments and personal projects, full productivity is maintained without transporting laptop workstations. Finished images have been delivered to clients while remaining on location, time-sensitive content shared to social channels when immediacy was relevant, and the creative satisfaction of completing images while the capture experience remains current has been consistently valuable. Technical capabilities on mobile platforms match desktop functionality for the overwhelming majority of editing requirements, rendering this flexibility genuinely practical rather than a compromised alternative.

AI-powered visual search eliminated substantial manual keywording investment that proved consistently tedious and was never maintained with adequate discipline. Archive collections accumulated images known to exist but difficult to locate due to inadequate tagging protocols. Locating specific images from months or years previous required extensive manual browsing hoping for visual recognition. Lightroom’s content-based search comprehends concepts, objects, color parameters, and scene characteristics without requiring manual categorization labor. Searches for specific subject matter, environmental conditions, or compositional characteristics instantly surface relevant images across complete archive collections. This rendered complete photographic histories genuinely accessible and operationally useful rather than accumulating collections that could not be effectively navigated. Regular rediscovery of archived work perfectly suited to current projects occurs with frequency, work that would have remained inaccessible without this search infrastructure.

Noise reduction for elevated ISO captures rescued numerous images that would otherwise have been unusable or restricted to low-resolution web applications. Low-light operational requirements including event coverage, nocturnal photography, or interior assignments without optimal illumination inevitably introduce grain artifacts that degrade image quality. Traditional noise reduction created problematic trade-offs between grain reduction and detail preservation. Aggressive reduction eliminated noise but produced artificial, over-processed appearance, while conservative reduction retained excessive visible grain. Lightroom’s AI-powered Denoise analyzes differentiation between authentic image detail and noise artifacts, eliminating grain while maintaining genuine sharpness and surface texture characteristics. Indoor event coverage and nocturnal photography became substantially more viable for delivering professional-quality results with reduced ISO constraint sensitivity. Images previously designated for discard or restricted to small-format applications now perform successfully even for print production.

Super Resolution addressed specific scenarios where image resolution became a limiting constraint retrospectively. Occasionally images prove more significant than initially assessed, but cropping requirements or desires for larger output formats than originally planned create pixel deficits. Clients occasionally request large-format print production for images captured at resolutions inadequate for that application. Machine learning-powered upscaling in Super Resolution intelligently quadruples pixel count while preserving and even enhancing detail characteristics. Aggressively cropped compositions have been salvaged and print requests fulfilled that would otherwise have necessitated recapture or client disappointment. The process executes rapidly and produces results that genuinely withstand scrutiny, expanding viable applications for images within existing archive collections.

The non-destructive editing architecture removed psychological constraints on experimentation that had unconsciously limited creative exploration. When adjustments permanently modified image files, inherent risk accompanied bold creative directions. Concerns about excessive manipulation without recovery paths or client requests for original versions created hesitation that constrained creative investigation. Understanding that all adjustments exist as metadata parameters rather than pixel modifications, and that original files remain pristine regardless of editing intensity, enabled uninhibited experimentation. Editing style development accelerated substantially through willingness to attempt techniques and treatments that might prove unsuccessful. The capability to return to any historical editing state or completely reinitiate from original capture eliminated creative risk that previously constrained post-processing methodologies. What do you like best about Adobe Photoshop Lightroom?

I use Adobe Photoshop Lightroom for cropping and color correcting images. I love that I can edit photos on my phone and share them easily, which is great for a quick response to customer requests. It's easy to use and has a lot of built-in presets and powerful image editing tools. These presets really help speed up my workflow and eliminate repetitive tasks. Setting it up was very easy to install. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Adobe Photoshop Lightroom?

The mobile application sometimes works slowly. Sometimes the effects take a long time to be implemented. Also, some of the buttons on the app are hard to hit because they are so small. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"I get the most out of my photos even as a beginner with a cheaper dslr."

4/5

What do you like best about Adobe Photoshop Lightroom?

The flexibility it gives, the camera that i have is not the best in some lighting situations, so to have all the lightroom tools available to help with exposure and white balance in post is amazing. It also gives you a lot of freedom playing around with colors Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Adobe Photoshop Lightroom?

The masking tool is really useful, but I do miss a few features. For example, I’d like the option to automatically select a subject and then refine the mask where needed. The program also feels quite heavy and runs a bit slow on my laptop, though that likely has more to do with my RAM. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Adobe Photoshop Lightroom solving and how is that benefiting you?

It’s helping me get the most out of an older camera without having to spend a lot of money on new lenses, a new body, or other upgrades. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Bulk Editing and Exporting That Saves Tons of Time, done Profesionally."

4/5

What do you like best about Adobe Photoshop Lightroom?

Bulk editing and exporting is my favorite feature, it really saves a lot of time when working with big batch files. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Adobe Photoshop Lightroom?

I would love for the program to accept the usage of other formats that are either vector or video, transform maybe to a stillframe, it would be nice to also apply edits to other than images. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Adobe Photoshop Lightroom solving and how is that benefiting you?

Whenever i have to go over +200 product pictures and choose and edit multiple, it is easy to see and select at a glance which ones to use and then separate them in folders to edit and export. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Streamlined Workflow, Needs Speed Improvement"

4/5

What do you like best about Adobe Photoshop Lightroom?

I use Adobe Photoshop Lightroom for developing raw formats and appreciate the automation of presets. It's easy to automate presets for batches of images that need to share the same aesthetics. I like how easy it is to see images directly from the camera when shooting, which makes it simple to visualize an entire shoot immediately after the session. This feature allows me to correct anything on the composition and shoot again if necessary, or just archive the image to process it later. The initial setup is pretty easy, especially when you have the license to work with. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Adobe Photoshop Lightroom?

Speed it's not a great feature, sometimes when adding raw formats it takes too long to load the previsualization of the selected image. Yes, it would be great if images could be edited by different people at the same time, a collaborative environment would work great when working with different teams.
