## Simio Reviews
  ### 1. Simio is the software with the highest modeling capabilities. Very useful but hard to learn.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Tolgahan T. | Founder & CEO @ Simulationhelpdesk.com, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 26, 2022

**What do you like best about Simio?**

Auto-creating entities, nodes, objects and paths allows you to create model automatically by direct data input
Great 3D animation capability

**What do you dislike about Simio?**

It is hard to learn and documentation of the software (help content) is limited. You can find get help from experts at simulationhelpdesk though

**What problems is Simio solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I am using Simio to develop various models. From simple supermarket, coffeeshop models to complex production system, warehouse and supply chain operations.

  ### 2. Simple and user friendly

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jacob D. | Post-Doctoral Fellow, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 30, 2020

**What do you like best about Simio?**

The extensive probability distributions and the ease with which to import images for introducing creativity into a simulation. Further, the amount of documentation behind Simio is extensive. Tutorials and "how-to" videos are easy to find and the ever-increasing adoption rate of Simio in the academic and commercial realms means that their library is ever-growing. An interesting feature of Simio is the ability to assign "intelligence" to entities/nodes. When modeling a socio-technical system (such as trying to manage customer flow at self-checkout lines or modeling passenger throughout from an airport gate), this feature greatly enhances the outputs.

**What do you dislike about Simio?**

Bugs and lag in importing images at times. If there was a major con that I can think of, it would be the inability of the software to sufficiently scale for complex and rather large simulations/models. The software is best utilized for quick, efficient simulations of small to medium projects. For something like a life cycle assessment of environmental systems, the network can become cumbersome and in turn slow down the execution of the model. Unless you have a touch-screen laptop (and even then, finger cramps can set in), the software is very "point and click" intensive. Further, the software could be said to lack the ability to produce "professional looking" outputs/charts/graphs/etc. These however could easily be remedied by exporting results to Microsoft Excel, Tableau, or another graphics program.

**Recommendations to others considering Simio:**

Ensure that you consult the tutorial before use. Further, I'd recommend exploring additional tools for graphics generation.

**What problems is Simio solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Benefits seen in identifying interaction hot spots between nodes.

  ### 3. Great beginners tool into the simulation world

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Juno B. | Transfer Specialist Cabin Crew Rosters, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 09, 2020

**What do you like best about Simio?**

The ease of going from beginner to pro in a relatively short period. It has some great courses for when you are a beginner, it is an easy program the start learning. Bit by bit you can dive deeper into more complex simulations and it also becomes more fun.
It's also a nice addition that you can quickly switch from a 2d model to a well detailed 3d version with buildings, puppets, and other vectors. It even stores actual aircraft which makes it useful in presentations as well.
So summarised its a wonderful tool, especially for students whom can gain knowledge and experience with the software in a few months. It can handle small basic projects but also simulations of something as complex as a whole airport operation, in which the smallest details can be adjusted to tweak the outcome and optimize the whole process

**What do you dislike about Simio?**

Simio sometimes will run very slow, this can be due to lacking computer hardware, but these meet the minimum requirements. I have found that this also occurs when there is an error somewhere in the programming part of the simulation, when this is the case it is really difficult to find this issue. Further, I would like some sort of presentation mode where it 'pans' through the simulation to show is actually running, which can be used for presentations in one seamless way

**Recommendations to others considering Simio:**

Its great for beginners and prof's, it has great 3D capabilities and customizability

**What problems is Simio solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I've focused on the processes within the airport. It can greatly show the errors in current systems and show where optimization can be achieved.

  ### 4. Great and intuitive software for beginner level simulation

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Lauren B. | Personnel Policy Analyst, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 22, 2020

**What do you like best about Simio?**

The user interface is extremely intuitive and utilizes several unique visualizations to portray simulation results. The simulation I tested even ran a sample assembly line to include forklifts, workers, queue buildups, and people on their cell phones

**What do you dislike about Simio?**

More complicated simulations are difficult to construct. Changing simple things such as a units behavior or a paths distribution can be difficult to find instructions on. Additionally online documentation is weak. Similar products include very in-depth documentation including free packages from python. I could not execute a simple aircraft maintenance problem without copious amounts of help from a subject matter expert.

**Recommendations to others considering Simio:**

Great product for basic level simulation. Will need large amounts of practice for more detailed simulations.

**What problems is Simio solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Educational problems with simio for learning and basic research problems. Examples of problems I worked on include aircraft maintenance problems that dealt with repair times, product availability, and flight hours. In addition, I worked on problems that dealt with assembly lines, logistics, and supply chain optimization.

  ### 5. Simio Review

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Education Management | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 30, 2019

**What do you like best about Simio?**

Simio is a simulation software which provides great flexibility while creating and analyzing systems. Simio gives easy, visual picture of the system you are trying to create making it more effective and understandable. There are animations available and also an online library for images from where you can try and create a system that looks exactly what it does in reality. Apart from the visual aspects, simio provides great flexibility with the input and output parameters, with creating expressions and state variables. It also has the ability to perform experiments which increase the replications, giving you more accurate results. Simio has various easy to interpret result viewing options which include a table format as well as graphical format. It also has tutorials and guides to help you learn the software

**What do you dislike about Simio?**

There is actually nothing I dislike about simio. The only problem I have with simio is that it might be expensive to use. Other than this, learning simio well, to be able to find your way around the software, may take some time.

**What problems is Simio solving and how is that benefiting you?**

SImio is being used to create and analyse systems that are of day to day importance and how changing some factors can result in better system. It helps to determine the stability of the system with the resources you have and gives an idea if more resources would be needed to handle the queue that lines up in front of a process.

It allows 2D as well as 3D-visualisation for better understanding of models.
Simio provides nice features to load data from foreign systems to the internal table structure.

**What do you dislike about Simio?**

Simio is based on a primitive conveyor modeling method. Thus it creates troubles while we want to not set the controls of an experiment in a excel table using all its optimization parameters.

**Recommendations to others considering Simio:**

I would recommend to take the initial training course on Simio which is designed for the kind of simulation you want to get properly set up before using it.

**What problems is Simio solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I have implemented several projects in my company that involved production, manufacturing as well as modeling.

  ### 14. Not suitable for beginners.

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Benjamin R. | Chief Of Operations, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 23, 2019

**What do you like best about Simio?**

It is a good quality software, very affordable and very easy to use because it does not need coding, allowing its concentration in the images without seeing much analysis of each program or product.
From simian you can build models that already exist or configure a new model.

**What do you dislike about Simio?**

For me, the only problem is the time that must be spent to do very specific things, that is, one must learn enough first, to be able to get the most out of ape and thus obtain the desired results.

**Recommendations to others considering Simio:**

Low cost and helps simulate for weeks, giving good results
However, I do not recommend it to beginners, because you have to get enough knowledge to use it, this in terms of difficult tasks.

**What problems is Simio solving and how is that benefiting you?**

This software is easily integrated with google, along with other applications. Being an innovative product, it allows to visualize in 2D and in 3D, so that the models can be understood in a better way; On the other hand it is very easy to use, offering detailed reports for optimal results, being very precise.

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Airlines/Aviation | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 30, 2019

**What do you like best about Simio?**

Simio is extremely useful because it allows users to complete experiments without interrupting the actual process or implementation site, all for a lower cost. These virtual experiments can be used to optimize production, throughout, and many other factors related to queuing theories. The resource allocation tool in extremely useful and the software also provides KPIs in various units, as well as many different distribution choices to more precisely represent your population.

**What do you dislike about Simio?**

The only real drawback of SIMIO is related to the processing capabilities of the device that you are using the software on. After designing the experiment and designating a number of trial runs, you are often left waiting for up to 15 minutes for more complex models to finish their number of trials.

**What problems is Simio solving and how is that benefiting you?**

SIMIO is very useful in solving production and optimization problems (how many workers should a restaurant have, should workers be cross trained, what is the estimated lead time, worker utilization, etc). As mentioned earlier, SIMIO is a cost effective way to execute experiments without disruption.
