# Horrible and dishonest conduct by Smartcat staff. As an experienced freelance translator, I was recently approached by a private individual through the SmartCat platform requesting me to translate a document into English for them. I agreed to the terms and customer's rate of payment and completed the project on the Smartcat platform. After completion, the client accepted my work and payment was due on the 8th of December. Two days later, there was no sign of payment (more than 400 Euros) and when I contacted Smartcat's help centre, they told me that they would investigate and get back to me after 5 working days. Approximately 10 days later, nobody had contacted me yet, so I sent them another email. They then told me that the client had committed fraud and that they would take a look at my work and then get back to me. Upon further enquiry, they unashamedly announced that they had picked up that I had used machine translation to do the work and they would therefore not pay me out!? What an absolute crock! Firstly, the content of the work has NOTHING to do with Smartcat. The work was done for a private individual, not for Smartcat! So what kind of a lame excuse is it to accuse me of using machine translation? The client accepted my work. How can Smartcat decide that my work was unacceptible? It's none of their business what I did for the client if the client was satisfied with my work! This is nothing less than a lame excuse not to pay me out for a client that somehow defrauded Smartcat! Firstly, Smartcat's terms and conditions state that a client must pay Smartcat upfront before a translator does the work. So how did the client defraud them if he/she had to pay upfront?? Nobody from Smartcat is willing to provide me with an honest answer regarding this! Secondly, Smartcat's terms and conditions also state that they are wholly responsible for payment owing to the translator. They are going against their own terms and conditions to get out of paying what's owed to me! What kind of action could I take for this blatant and dishonest conduct? The Smartcat staff should be ashamed of themselves! I was relying on the money to pay for Christmas expenses and for January rent! I am now on the verge of being evicted with nowhere to go. # Prévoyez-vous d'améliorer la communication avec le département chargé des intégrations API, ou cela n'est-il pas prévu ? Compte tenu de l'importance des intégrations API de nos jours, et du fait que de nombreuses entreprises (la nôtre au moins) se concentrent sur l'offre d'intégrations API aux acheteurs potentiels, la réactivité est indispensable. # Comment osent-ils simplement prendre l'argent de l'utilisateur ? Je travaille sur la plateforme depuis un certain temps, l'un des services que Smartcat propose est un système de paiement pour les travaux même en dehors de leur plateforme, c'est un système de paiement, mais ils ont simplement retenu mes fonds pour un travail qui n'est même pas effectué sur leur plateforme. J'ai entendu dire que cela a également été fait à d'autres utilisateurs.
