# Which video conferencing tools do teams keep using after rollout?

Hi, video conferencing software researchers on G2, this one needs people who've watched a rollout age. I'm trying to work out which video conferencing tools teams actually keep using after rollout, because deployment and adoption are different events: every tool gets used in week one, and the retention question only answers itself around month six, when usage either holds or quietly drifts to whatever people prefer.

The Video Conferencing G2 Grid data has an honest signal on this, the gap between satisfaction and market presence:

Zoom Workplace (4.5, 56,000+ reviews): perfect satisfaction score (100) in every Grid segment against notably lower market presence, which is the profile of a tool teams chose on its merits and kept; when a company runs Zoom alongside a bundled suite, that's usually a retention vote someone paid extra for.

Microsoft Teams (4.4, 17,800+ reviews): also scores 100 on satisfaction with near-total enterprise presence; the wrinkle is that its usage is partly structural, when chat, files, and meetings share one app, "still using it" and "chose to keep it" are hard to separate.

Google Meet (via Google Workspace, 4.6, 47,600+ reviews): retention through frictionlessness, it lives in the calendar invite and the browser, so there's no app to abandon; the adoption question is whether teams stay on it for serious external meetings or keep it for internal quick calls.

Webex Suite (4.2, 18,780+ reviews): strongest in enterprise and security-conscious environments, where it holds seats for years; its satisfaction scores run below the other three, which makes its retention more of an IT decision than a user one.

For the people who've been through this: which tool did your org officially roll out that people quietly stopped opening, and what were they opening instead? The gap between the license report and actual usage is the story I'm after.

Where drift actually happens is in external meetings, since you end up in whatever the other side scheduled, so a team can be officially on one platform and functionally on several, depending on who sent the invite. Frictionless joining is what protects retention; the tool that lives in the calendar and the browser has nothing to abandon, which is a quieter kind of stickiness than a satisfaction score shows. The tool that survives is usually the one nobody has to choose; it just sits in the invite, while the officially rolled-out one drifts to whatever the external party sends.
