# Which property restoration platforms provide robust budget and cost tracking across restoration jobs?

I'm researching which property restoration platforms provide strong budget and cost tracking across restoration jobs, from the estimate through invoicing and payment. What tends to matter is tying an accurate estimate to real-time job status, so you know where a job stands financially before it closes rather than after. Here's what comes up across the Property Restoration category, split between the estimating side and the collections side.

Contractor+: Built for fast, accurate estimating with localized material and labor pricing, plus invoicing and payments in one place. Scoping bids to stay profitable and then tracking them through completion is the core of what it's designed to do.

Jobber: Connects quotes, invoicing, and payments to keep cash flow and job status visible with real-time numbers. Its profit-and-loss reporting is a newer, still-maturing part of the platform, so heavier cost analysis often still leans on accounting software.

Cotality DASH: Uses phase buckets to track down payments, progress payments, and final collections per job. That structure is built to keep what's owed visible across a full board of active work, which is the cost-tracking angle for restoration specifically.

DocuSketch: Not a budgeting tool itself, but faster, more accurate estimates and upfront scoping help set man-hours and job cost early. That early accuracy feeds the numbers to the budgeting and invoicing tools, which then track.

For cost tracking across jobs, do you lean on the estimating side, the invoicing-and-payments side, or a phase-based view of what's actually been collected? And how much of your financial tracking still lives outside the platform in QuickBooks or a spreadsheet?

We lean on the phase view of what's been collected, since that's the number that tells you whether a job is done or just finished. Estimating accuracy matters earlier, but QuickBooks still does the real cost analysis for us.

Xactimate is the industry-standard name for cost estimation and budget tracking across restoration jobs, well-established in the space.

On restoration jobs specifically, margin usually leaks through equipment days and drying labour, because those accrue every day against a scope that was priced once. That makes the useful view committed cost as it accumulates rather than invoiced cost, since by the time it is invoiced the decision to leave equipment on site for another two days has already been made. Which is the same thing the question above about catching margin bleed mid-job is getting at. Cotality's phase buckets are closer to that shape than an estimate-to-invoice flow. Worth asking whether equipment-on-site days can be tracked against the estimate daily.

The question I'd ask about Jobber's P&L reporting is whether it's mature enough to catch margin bleed mid-job or only shows the full picture at close. For restoration specifically, knowing a job is running over on labor before the drying phase ends is what actually protects the margin.
