# Which donor prospect research tool is best for a small nonprofit team?

Hi G2, our development team is basically two people, and a lot of the donor prospect research tools I'm finding feel built for a shop five times our size. Curious what's actually working for other small teams.

DonorSearch: one small advancement team reviewer said it lets them prioritize fundraising efforts with limited resources, and the mass upload feature came up as a specific time-saver for a small staff.

GrantStation: reviewers use the Prospect Manager to tag and export funders into a shared calendar to keep a small team on the same page, though one reviewer flagged that it only supports single users with no option to add more.

iWave: one reviewer specifically called it their go-to for a small development shop, saving significant time on research that would otherwise eat up limited staff hours.

For other small teams, did you end up needing a second seat or a bigger plan sooner than expected, or has one of these actually stayed sized right as you've grown?

For a two-person development team, I’d watch how much research actually turns into action rather than how much data the tool can surface. Take the same 50 prospects through each workflow and measure how quickly the team can identify who deserves attention, capture why, and hand the next step to the other person. Seat limits matter, but so does whether the tool creates another research backlog that a tiny team cannot realistically work.
