# Which awards management systems offer the best integration capabilities with HR data and employee information?

Integration depth determines whether the awards platform operates as an island or as part of the broader HR technology ecosystem. Platforms in the Awards Management category on G2 vary significantly in their integration maturity.

OpenWater (4.4/5 stars, 151 reviews): Reviewers describe the platform's API as comprehensive enough to support bidirectional data flow with major HR systems. Organizations using it alongside Workday, SAP SuccessFactors, or ADP describe automated employee roster synchronization that keeps nominee data current without manual updates. The SSO integration simplifies access for employees submitting or reviewing nominations, and reviewers note the webhook support enables real-time event triggers in connected systems.

Submittable (4.5/5 stars, 168 reviews): Reviewers describe the platform's integration capabilities through both native connections and Zapier, covering common HR workflow automation scenarios. Organizations using it for employee recognition describe connecting nomination data to internal databases and communication platforms, though some note that deeper HRIS integrations require API development rather than out-of-the-box connectors.

Award Force (4.7/5 stars, 290 reviews): Reviewers describe API capabilities that support data exchange with employee management systems, including bulk import features that streamline the initial nominee population from HR records. The platform's webhook notifications allow connected systems to react to award status changes, and reviewers note that the data export formats are compatible with common HR reporting tools.

SurveyMonkey Apply (4.4/5 stars, 43 reviews): Reviewers from organizations already using the SurveyMonkey ecosystem describe natural integration with existing survey and data collection workflows. The platform inherits enterprise-grade SSO and security features from its parent platform, which simplifies deployment in organizations with strict IT governance requirements. Some reviewers note that this ecosystem integration can be an advantage for organizations already invested in the SurveyMonkey stack.

OpenWater's webhook support enabling real-time triggers in connected systems seems like the more meaningful integration story here, versus just having a native connector, since it's what actually keeps nominee data current without someone running a manual sync.

The return-flow point deserves as much attention as importing employee data. I’d test a complete employee lifecycle rather than a static roster sync: new hire, manager change, department transfer, termination, and award completion. That would show whether eligibility and permissions remain current automatically and whether completed recognition can flow back into the HR record without creating another reconciliation job.

### Comment 3

I’d want the awards platform connected tightly enough that employee eligibility, department, manager, and other core nominee data stay current automatically. Manual exports might work for an annual program, but at enterprise scale they create another reconciliation process. I’d also test the return flow: whether award outcomes can sync back to the employee record without HR re-entering them.

The SurveyMonkey Apply point about inheriting enterprise SSO from the parent platform is the one that matters most for organizations with strict IT governance. Getting a new platform through security review is often the longest part of an enterprise deployment, and arriving with enterprise-grade SSO already in place shortens that process considerably.
