OpenCart is worth a look if you really don&#39;t want a monthly fee, but the interface feels pretty dated and you&#39;ll likely spend time figuring things out that just work out of the box elsewhere. PrestaShop is similar, technically free but the paid modules add up. Ecwid&#39;s probably the smoothest WordPress fit of the three, just know the free tier is pretty limited and the pricing has gotten less friendly lately.
