# What's the top-rated Construction software for small subcontractors handling estimates, bids, and job costing?

Filtering out the big enterprise project management suites built for a general contractor's scale of operation narrows down what's the top-rated construction software for small subcontractors handling estimates, bids, and job costing pretty fast, and the estimating-specific evidence really only holds up for three products:

Bluebeam: Fast, customizable takeoff tools make estimating noticeably easier, with performance and pricing praised specifically by estimators moving away from printed drawings marked up by hand toward a fully digital, paperless workflow.

Procore: Centralizing RFIs, submittals, and project documentation keeps different business units working from the same information, with real-time collaboration speeding up coordination even for smaller teams handling multiple trades at once.

Fieldwire: Real-time mobile updates replace paper maps held in a single office, giving field teams and subcontractors immediate visibility into the latest project information no matter where they're working.

The estimating and takeoff-specific praise concentrates more on Bluebeam based on what's in the reviews, while Procore and Fieldwire come up more for coordinating work once a job is already underway. For small subcontractors specifically, did you need more than one of these running together, or did a single tool cover the full estimate-to-job-costing workflow?

I’d expect a small subcontractor to need more than one of these if estimate-to-job-costing is the requirement. Bluebeam looks useful for takeoff and estimating, while Procore and Fieldwire are stronger once work moves into execution. I’d pay close attention to the handoff between estimating and actual job costs, because re-entering quantities, budgets, or scope after winning the bid can erase a lot of the efficiency gained upfront.
