# What’s the best PIM software for small retail businesses?

An honest take from someone who works at a PIM vendor (Pimberly): if you&#39;re a small retailer with a few hundred SKUs and one or two sales channels, you may not need a dedicated PIM yet. Your ecommerce platform&#39;s product catalog plus a well-structured spreadsheet can go a long way.

The signs you&#39;ve outgrown that setup:

- You&#39;re re-entering the same product data into several channels.
- Marketplaces keep rejecting listings for missing or badly formatted attributes.
- Supplier data arrives in inconsistent formats you have to clean by hand.
- Launching a new product takes days because information is scattered across people and files.

When two or three of those are true, a PIM pays for itself. For smaller teams, prioritize ease of setup and your platform&#39;s native connector over depth of features.

One more PIM worth considering is UnoPIM. It’s an open-source option focused on flexibility, scalability, and multi-channel product data management.

What caught my attention is its ability to handle 10M+ products, while Elasticsearch helps maintain fast search and filtering performance at large catalog sizes. It also supports fast bulk imports and integrations with eCommerce platforms and other systems.

For businesses with large or rapidly growing catalogs, I’d definitely include UnoPIM in the evaluation alongside the solutions mentioned above.
