# What's the best Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) platform for customizable forms and SWMS instead of rigid templates?

Researching this, the frustration behind it is clear: a lot of safety software ships rigid templates that don't match how your team actually works, and SWMS in particular need to flex to the job. These tools in the occupational health and safety (OHS) space are known for customization:

Mitti (by SafetyCulture) lets you build inspections and forms with different question types and response-driven actions, so you're shaping the form to the work rather than the reverse. Best for flexible, response-driven forms.

SiteDocs includes a custom form builder that reviewers highlight for adapting field documentation to their needs. Best for custom field forms.

SALUS supports configurable SWMS and safety documents for construction crews. Best for tailored SWMS.

1Life offers configurable safety forms and workflows. Best for adaptable safety processes.

The honest caveat is that more customization means more setup and upkeep, so the tradeoff is flexibility versus time spent building and maintaining forms. How custom do your SWMS really need to be, job-specific every time, or a handful of reusable variants?

I’d test how quickly a supervisor can adapt an existing SWMS when conditions change on site. SALUS or SiteDocs may offer plenty of customization, but if every small change means rebuilding the form, that flexibility becomes admin work. Reusing a solid template and changing only what’s job-specific seems like the better test.
