# What's the best employee monitoring software for remote teams needing real-time visibility without privacy concerns?

Time Doctor, Hubstaff, and Insightful keep coming up as the ones that manage it best.

Time Doctor: reviewers specifically highlight real-time visibility into active versus idle time and application usage, and the same activity data is visible to employees themselves, which keeps oversight from feeling like something happening behind their backs.

Hubstaff: transparency comes up repeatedly as the actual benefit reviewers cite, with one manager noting it removes the need to prove someone isn't working and instead just shows why productivity dipped on a given day.

Insightful: automated email reports let a manager stay updated without checking a dashboard constantly, and reviewers describe the screenshots and usage views as useful specifically for addressing issues in a professional, non-invasive way.

I’d make employee visibility into the collected data a requirement, not just a nice-to-have. If workers can see what is tracked, when monitoring is active, and how the data is interpreted, managers get operational visibility without making the system feel opaque. The harder question is which data genuinely helps management versus simply being possible to collect.
